THE END
7/26/2006 5:01:47 PM
the expansion alone will push this damn thread atleast another 30 pages
7/26/2006 5:22:21 PM
So yeah a few weeks ago I logged in, stripped my 60 shaman and 60 mage (both in full epics) DE'ed everything, vendored what I couldnt DE, sent all my gold (about 2k) to guild leader. I also controlled the guild bank so I sent all that crap to her as well. My shaman was rank 12 50% and close to a HoR. Logged out, deleted all my characters. Cancelled my account. Dont really regret it.

It amazes me the drastic steps people feel they need to take so they won't go back.Strike that. It amazes me that people do what Taikimoto do rather than just selling their account and trying to get something out of the time they put into their characters.[Edited on July 26, 2006 at 5:36 PM. It's pretty tough to sell accounts nowI tried selling my hunter that is pretty decked out in tier 1 and tier 2...I have to agree on the rushing home to make a raid. It sucks when you rush home to get in a raid and then don't get an invite.I wasted a whole semester playing WoW
7/26/2006 5:42:07 PM
I did the same thing as Takimoto, though I didnt have as many epics. I got a lot out of the time I put into it. It was entertainment, not a job. Plus in my case I decided I wanted to retain the account in case I get back into it once the expansion hits, but I knew if I had a bunch of 60s and all my friends kept playing, it would be much harder to resist.Just depends on how you look at the game and the level of self control you have.
7/26/2006 5:43:31 PM
gotta do the cookin' by the book!
7/26/2006 6:07:12 PM
7/26/2006 6:19:51 PM
^^^ That doesn't make any sense though. If you sell your account and buy a new one 6 months down line, from an in-game point of view you're at exactly the same place as you are if you just delete everything.
7/26/2006 6:24:26 PM
I dont smoke and I dont drink, so the 15$ a month to play wow was nothing to me. In fact that was my justification for paying for mmorpgs in the first place.
7/26/2006 6:30:33 PM
$15 a month isn't much to anyone on this board, but that doesn't mean you see people buying things for $15 a month, every month just to flush them down the toilet when they get bored with them.
7/26/2006 7:42:36 PM
it's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake!
7/26/2006 7:48:44 PM
it's really not that hard to sell accounts. I mean shit IGE will by -ANY- account. granted at like 10% what it's worthmy friend sold his full NS rogue for 700 2 weeks ago. it's not tough
7/26/2006 8:59:39 PM
Dont sound so high and mightly with yourself, Taikimoto. Maybe you could GIVE your character to your guild, like 90% of the other ppl do. Get them to change the pw and pick up the bill and you're done. Now they get the bank (oh, how kind of you to send that btw) and 2 characters they can use in a pinch. In other news, this remains my favorite Naxx picture. Apparently grouping up was not a good strategy on deathknights .[Edited on July 27, 2006 at 4:08 AM. Reason : .]

wow. its a good thing I feel pretty good about myself and my decision and dont give a fuck what asshats like ^ and ^^^^ think I should have done with my account. I mean, CapnOblivious over here is giving me flack for actually GIVING my crap to my guild and then you got Stein over there giving me flack for not selling my account and not screwing over my guild. You guys gonna pick one or just bash all angles, both positive and negative to feel better about yourselves in someway?
7/27/2006 4:20:52 AM
I am giving you crap for building yourself up like sort of great person. "Look, I quit WoW! And I did so in such a nice way! I feel all warm and bubbly so I dont care what others think ^.^ "[Edited on July 27, 2006 at 4:37 AM. Reason : .]

7/27/2006 7:13:41 AM
Oh look, an immune paladin while the rest of his raid group lies dead. Fucking alliance. You fags won't feel so special in a few months, muahahahahaha
7/27/2006 9:14:48 AM
God this game sucks so horribly. Eve Online Forever.
7/27/2006 9:26:29 AM
see I love the concept of eve... my friend started playing it and was like ya it's great I didnt even log in the first 2 weeks just trained skills..... that's not really something I'd want to pay money for :x
7/27/2006 9:56:43 AM
EvE is cool until you realize that it actually requires more time then wow.See when you don't show up in wow its cool. When you don't show up in EvE and you happen to be Captian big-fucking-ship your corp could lose months of hardwork. Totally sweet though.
7/27/2006 10:20:01 AM
intense
7/27/2006 10:44:12 AM
Got shazz down to 1% last night, he wipes the entire raid but one priest and one shammy. Priest casts shadow word pain and the shammy earth shocks at the end.
7/27/2006 12:24:47 PM
See, the problem is that they pull that shit on some noob boss in MC, than later on in BWL or AQ40, they try and pull that same shit with a boss that has 2 million + hp and do nothing but waste all their ankhs and force the whole the raid group to run back.
7/27/2006 12:38:33 PM
I broke down and did it last night.7 NE Druid on Exector

YeaIts amazing how a lot of people don't do the math on 1% of 2million.
7/27/2006 1:15:52 PM
to this very day i still hate the shazz fight. i've actually thought about getting AR for that fight, but I only go into MC now for my AQ sceptre quest line.huhu 9% last nite, 1 on 1 works best after we've tried everything else.woot pg200
7/27/2006 2:15:10 PM
^^^^^^The best part of that image is that the priest doesn't have a single healing spell on any of his main bars. Only a Renew and Greater Heal tucked away in the corner.
7/27/2006 4:08:17 PM
Yeah, but he has two kinds of water. That's all that counts.
7/27/2006 4:09:14 PM
Primed and ready to MC Shazzrah. LOOK OUT!

Practically, you are right Stein, but what is practical about playing a MMORPG in the first place? It's a huge life sink.[Edited on July 27, 2006 at 6:02 PM. Reason : -]
7/27/2006 6:02:39 PM
I disagree. It's only a life sink if you let it become one.In which case, if it does become a life sink, you should at least find way to reap some kind of benefit out of it.
7/27/2006 6:05:08 PM
Most people approach MMORPG's knowing that a lot of time will be wasted playing the game. It's par for the course, I don't see how you can disagree with that. Now, if you are just playing the "devil's advocate" and saying that you CAN play it casually and maintain a healthy social life, well fine. But practically speaking, you are being misleading. For the majority of WoW players, if you want to get good at WoW, you have to devote a lot of time which could be better spent being social, or any number of others things. I am well aware that it is possible to play casually, or have several people play on one account, etc... etc... However, the game structure is designed to reward time-sinkers, not casual players. Casual players are weaker, less informed, and less likely to acquire higher level items, which defeats the purpose of the practicality behind trying to get an ubar character to sell online. You see? I'm not saying that it is impractical to sell your account online, instead I'm saying that it doesn't make sense to expect non-casual gamers to share your mentality of selling accounts to make back the money from (lost time/time well spent).[Edited on July 27, 2006 at 7:09 PM. 7/27/2006 6:41:31 PM
Then lo and behold I have been playing wrong all of this time! The biggest problem with WoW is that all it requires to be "good" is investment of time.
7/27/2006 7:05:27 PM
^Exactly!
