wikipedia uses creative commons license. the entire point is to make it freely available.

all AI hallucinates and gets tuned. so do humans, including those who contribute to wikipedia. so grokipedia and wikipedia are both susceptible to these flaws.

the difference with grokipedia (conceptually at least, we'll see how it goes in practice) is that bc AI can "think" and "reason" at scale now, we can use it to evaluate claims across a variety of sources (of which wikipedia can be one) and try to identity the "objective truth" and "neutral framing" as best as we can. this is the same thing humans do too (at least when they're not just swallowing wholesale what their favorite sports blog or bluesky account has to say about a given topic), AI can just do it faster and with a lot more available data to draw on, and show the paper trail for how it arrived at its "objective truth"

me too. wikipedia is great! except for when it's not. just like I check cnn.com and nytimes.com every day and most of the time that's fine. just have to be aware that sometimes they're playing you, because their incentives and yours are not 100% overlapped. and sometimes wikipedia (or its editors at least) is playing you. and yes obviously sometimes elon musk's incentives and mine are not 100% overlapped and we'll have to see how trustworthy and reliable grokipedia is, or whether it just becomes another vector to play you. but conceptually, it's interesting and has some potential improvements over the current model of a single monolith wikipedia with an entrenched and corrupted hierarchy of editors who abuse the "trust" that wikipedia has earned over the years. competition is good. i do like the practical layout and legible design though

twitter started as an innovative project and grew in popularity over the years
as it grew, people figured out how to abuse it to play people, including those who were in charge of it or those who were able to influence/pressure those in charge of it
bluesky began as a re-imagining and re-architecting of the twitter concept in order to solve the problems that had emerged over the previous 15 years. great idea and worthy attempt, but oops bluesky turned into a cesspool instead.
