So in typical fashion I expect a draw in this one now. Seriously what's up with arsenal and where is the blood for the Spanish driver?

I will take the draw and the gift from De Gea. Got to get 6 Points and 4th is ours, but no easy task. Watford is tough but it is at the Bridge. Leicester at King Power will be tough especially after they beat Arsenal pretty handily.

Soccer concussion protocols continue to be suspect, at least they got him off

Also this week's NGITC had some good stuff from PFA discussion, like this tweet about how important Salahs goals have been
Quote :
"Salah's goals have been directly responsible for 24 points this season, double Aguero, and more than double any other player (including Mane, who has 10 points)"

https://twitter.com/MiguelDelaney/status/1122514638170730496?s=19

And i think I was talking to a buddy offline about how good Allison has been but struggling to quantify, some GK rankings:
https://statsscoreindex.com/20190425/stats-european-goalkeeper-rankings-april-25/

But, most importantly, this bit that may as well be directly addressed to our favorite poster:
Quote :
"The “yeah but he hasn’t won anything” retort is somehow still being used as the cudgel to beat down Pochettino’s reputation. It’s a bad-faith argument made by trolls, "

Ajax was solid to start the game but honestly, the rest of the game was pretty bad. Spurs are absolutely toothless without Son/Kane. And they are super lucky it's only 0-1.

I'm sure Son will be a danger in the next leg but I will be surprised if they go through.

It's like playing with one arm tied behind your back when both of your top two goalscorers are unavailable.

It's only one goal, and I think the players and the fans have the belief that we can get a result on the road now after the quarterfinal. If Sissoko is healthy and starts this match I believe things are different.

you can't consider yourself a great manager unless you win a major trophy, its simple. Poch and Klopp's time with their squads would have been a failure if there are no trophys to show for it at the end of their tenure. You can do a lot for the club and advance its stature, which undoubtedly both of these managers have done. However, without any trophies to show for it it was in many ways meaningless. Its like putting in the graft and the hardwork to build a cathedral but then you forget to put the dome on it. Beautiful cathedral? Sure but still an unfinished product.

Neither are done at their respective clubs and both can still win major trophies but the fans and themselves will be disappointed if this campaign is trophyless (you can still have had a great season and be disappointed you came so close and have nothing to show for it).

Not even trying to troll, no one is going to remember spurs making the CL semis or the fact that Liverpool had 97 points and didn't win the title. Your fans will sure but in the grand scheme of things the trophy is the only thing that matters and the only reason you are excited your clubs are still in with a chance.

The fans remembering is literally the only thing that matters. This, and last season, have been phenomenal. I would certainly prefer to win EPL, UCL orange both but it's insane to come away from a season like this mad. Liverpool ALREADY have one of the highest PL point totals EVER, that's a failure? FOH man.

Klopp already has
Europa final
CL final
CL semis
Top 5 PL point total

Meanwhile Spurs won't spend but have still been top 3 for 4 straight seasons and are in a CL semi

Mad and disappointed are not the same thing. Failure is mentioned in terms of their tenure, not this season. You will have enjoyed this season surely but both Klopp and Poch will need to build on this if they fail to win trophys this year. Question is are they at their peak and will regress or are they going to get better.

That record for Klopp won't even put him in the same bracket as Ancelotti, Mou, Zidane or even Simone. You could argue that Klopp is better than all of them but in terms of trophies he isn't. His biggest achievement is winning the bundesliga with Dortmund. Impressive but he isn't going down as a top 5 manager with that record.

Definitely seems like most of my Pool friends at LBP would fall into the disappointed but not mad camp if they come away without a trophy. Can't really be mad at a potential 97 points, but you could certainly be disappointed it wasn't good enough to win the league.

Oddly, it seems that Pool fans are more concerned with winning the league than Europe at this point, and that boggles my mind. Europe is the bigger and better competition (IMO), so why the hell wouldn't you want to win that over the league? I get that it's been awhile, but for me it would definitely be Europe over England.

I want to win both. And disappointment is not failure. Not being considered a top 5 manager is not failure. Klopp and Poch are excellent top class managers. If we're arguing about whether they are top 5, then I think that proves the point.

Now, not winning a title may likely be PERSONAL failures for each in their goals, but that's a different story.

lmao. Yes I should celebrate that 89 point title lost on GD like we won. As I said no one talks about United losing that title, everyone talks about Aguero goal.

Can't handle the truth so the other person is delusional. Delusional Liverpool fans in a nutshell.

What the hell was VVD doing for Messi's goal??? Robertson is tracking the through run, but VVD turns his back to Messi anyway instead of stepping, then doesn't even play the run he turned to track, then is slow to react to the rebound that comes right back to him and Messi pounces. Headscratcher.

Yuuuuccckkkk. Sooo many chances, no finishes. And of course Messi

And another important CL game where an important player goes out with a tackle caused injury in the first 30. Blecch.

Man Salah was running them ragged just couldn't get it in the back of net

Just how it goes sometimes. Liverpool were awesome and undone by a brilliant goal, some bad luck, and an absolute masterclass. Just lost out on the individual moments. Salah could have had a few, Milner could have had a few, and Mane missed a big chance.

Games like this are a perfect example why idiots like wazza are so wrong to judge everything on trophies. I enjoy watching Liverpool play week in and week out and everything Klopp has done since he's been there is the reason for it.

Honestly who gives a fuck if someone other than a Liverpool fan "remembers that Liverpool had 97 points and didn't win the title." In the grand scheme of things, the trophy is the only thing that matters to you. To me, obviously, I want to win trophies but it doesn't completely devalue the entire season where the team was #1/#2 and only lost one game. That'd be insane to think of that as a failure.

Imagine caring where your manager is ranked in brackets against other coaches? Nonsense.

The ultimate compliment to Liverpool is that they still aren't completely out of it yet down 0-3. I can certainly see them scoring 3 at home vs Barca or anybody else.

spoken like someone who hasn't consistently seen Messi play. Barca at this stage is a different machine and at 3-0 up they will come in to Anfield with a mission. Not saying you don't have a shot but I'd be shocked if Barca allow you to score 3 and not grab one themselves. It'll likely be 1-1 at anfield or 1-0 to pool. I actually think it would have worked in your favor to start at Anfield because Barca is much more pragmatic away and that could lead to pressure at home if they had lost. Get ready for prime shithousery from biscuits and Suarez.

While Liverpool still have a shot its pretty slim. Scoring 3 goals may be obtainable but let in one goal and I just don't see you scoring 5 to win the tie.

I guess it's a wrap if City wins Monday but I'm more worried about next weekend without Firmino and Salah. Brewster probably makes the bench ffs

That's the difference between City and everyone else. Fernandinho and KDB hurt and they still have Foden, Mahrez, Stones, Otamendi, Jesus on their bench. Insane

L - and I cannot emphasize this enough - MAO at United

None of them look like they want to be there. And a lot of them aren't good enough to be there even if they wanted to. Just got worked by the worst team in the league for most of the game.
