lol at that goal off of Alonzo's face from a clearance. All the close chances we missed and then score like that haha[Edited on May 9, 2018 at 4:13 PM. Reason : Come on Newcastle]

City has the most wins, goals and points in a PL season now. Wonder if wazza rates them yet or they're still worse than some random United team

Standing up for my guy a little bit here, but everyone in the soccer world has been washing Salad's balls all season and he only finished 2 goals ahead of Kane while Kane missed 3 matches to injury and he finished above Liverpool again. That's 8 of the last 9 seasons reds.Maybe people just treat it as routine for him now. I do feel like a seriously motivated Kane is going to show up in August though.
5/14/2018 7:01:29 AM
you mean 3 goals
5/14/2018 7:13:50 AM
^^so much disrespect and bitterness
5/14/2018 7:47:27 AM
^^ no i don't Speaking of disrespect and bitterness, when is wazza planning on giving it up to this City team? Truly one for the ages.[Edited on May 14, 2018 at 8:14 AM. Reason : COYS]
5/14/2018 8:12:27 AM
for a serious response, yes Salah has been getting plaudits but he's scored a crazy amount of goals AND double digit assists as well. I also don't think anybody has ignored Kane all year either. He's been getting all the credit he rightfully deserves imo.Hope you aren't seriously table trash talking, considering a horseshit penalty in injury time is literally what separates us this year[Edited on May 14, 2018 at 9:08 AM. Reason : .]
5/14/2018 8:58:28 AM
It was halfway in jest, but yeah, kinda. I mean we finished above you again and VVD put a boot on Lamela and not the ball from behind so I'm not sure why that would even be called into question. It is a bit overlooked that with a record goal scorer and such an amazing year that they finished 4th with one point less than the previous season. It's fine to throw out CL Final too. You guys handled your business against City which honestly I think Spurs would have gotten smashed in that matchup, but otherwise you avoided playing ANYONE legit until the Final. Dodging Barca when they would have worked Liverpool in the semi's is the greatest gift I've seen from the football gods in a while.
5/14/2018 10:01:21 AM
We avoided Barca bc they LOST not bracket luck. I think it's dumb to punish a team in a final bc of who they played, but especially when the team you bring up had a chance but got beat by a team that we, then, beat. Not to mention that you hand wave whipping an English "team for the ages".Do we punish Michigan for making the NCAA finals??[Edited on May 14, 2018 at 11:06 AM. Reason : Sevilla beat United and tested Bayern]
5/14/2018 11:05:02 AM
I didn't "wave whip" anything (whatever that means). I gave you credit and said my team couldn't have done the same. I'm not punishing you for anything, but acting like luck didn't play a significant factor from the moment the group draw was announced is burying your head in the sand. I don't know a single knowledgeable fan that would put Liverpool amongst the Real, Barca, Bayern, Juve, PSG group and you didn't play a single one of them before the final. That's undeniable that you had the easiest path of any club to advance deep in the comp.I'm sure there were plenty of Liverpool fans rolling their eyes when Arsenal drew Lincoln City in the fucking FA Cup semi a couple years ago too which is perfectly acceptable from a rival standpoint. There were a fuck ton of people begrudging Michigan too this season as well as Duke a few years ago when the toughest team they played all tournament was Baylor. These type of draws happen.[Edited on May 14, 2018 at 11:41 AM. Reason : COYS]

5/14/2018 11:56:06 AM
That's just a weird take. City, who just set PL records and is very clearly one of the best teams in Europe, got fucking demolished by this Liverpool team and yet apparently, LFC avoided "ANYONE legit." Okay. Sorry but LFC can only beat who is front of them and they did it by steamrolling teams for 5.5 games in the knockouts. The Roma 2nd half is the only time they weren't comfortable and it was obviously because of fatigue.Liverpool doesn't lose at Anfield and are capable of scoring every single game. They're a nightmare matchup in a 2-leg tournament. We're definitely underdogs in the final but this is not some bullshit Cinderella story. Not guaranteeing a final no matter who they played but I wouldn't have counted them out against ANY of those teams you think are a class above where it wouldn't have been close.
5/14/2018 11:59:16 AM
You're right, they can only beat who is in front of them. The teams in front of them were the easiest path the final we've seen in quite a few years in the CL. Why is that so hard to admit for you Liverpool fans? You're there. There's nothing wrong with admitting they got lucky with the draw, because they did. You're other two knockout opponents besides City, who you were familiar with previously and had their number this year, were Roma and Porto. Real Madrid beat PSG, Juve, and Bayern to get to the same spot. You want to tell me you didn't get lucky and that you would have still been in the Final with that path? Get real.
5/14/2018 12:07:25 PM
Well I'm glad you stated your premise, which is that not only did Liverpool have an easier path but that with a harder path they would def be out.And for the fifth time, Porto may have been luck of the draw but Roma was soccer. Barca was in the path and they lost. If Real had faced Spurs and Sevilla that wouldn't have been a "lucky draw" it would have been bc other teams couldn't get it done. Barca might finish 80 pts proud of Roma if they played in the same league, but over two CL games, Roma was the slightly better team.I think Real have the ability to beat us 5-0, but if Pool pull out the win, in 5 years nobody is gonna say "oh that's the team that just had an easy draw"
5/14/2018 12:22:08 PM
Yeah we're arguing two different things. Was it a fortunate draw? Sure. But does it mean we aren't on the level of all the teams you mentioned in a knockout tournament? No. Spurs beat Real and pushed Juventus. Barcelona lost to a team LFC beat. PSG can never get out of the first round, no matter who they play. Bayern struggled with Sevilla and honestly, I wanted them in the final over Real because I think they're very beatable at the moment. They just got worked by Stuttgart in the Bundesliga final matchday. The point is, over the course of a CL season, depending on form and injuries and matchups, Liverpool can absolutely hang with all those teams. It's just hypotheticals for now but I don't get why it's laughable to think they could have gotten to a final under "unluckier" circumstances.[Edited on May 14, 2018 at 12:23 PM. Reason : .]

Let's get back to the Premier League season. Liverpool season recap:Disappointed about the performances against other big clubs but not much to complain about otherwise. Aside from WBA & Swansea, LFC handled their business against mid/lower table all season. Only 5 losses in the league and undefeated at home. Play attacking, beautiful soccer the majority of the time. Made clear defensive improvements and Klopp's new signings are getting the job done big time. We're locking all our best players down to long-term deals as well. Oh and of course, we're also in the CL final. Outlook for next year:Defense: Everybody points to this as Liverpool's weakness but it was the fewest goals against since the 09/10 season. Only 10 in the 14 games VVD was there plus we didn't have Robertson/TAA all year in their positions either. Even if they don't upgrade Matip/Lovren as VVD's replacement, I think it's a capable defense. If they do get an experienced CB, it's really really good. I'm not convinced on Karius as top tier GK level but I think he's good enough. It's not like Ederson was the best GK in the league and I didn't see that stopping City. If they buy a world class GK this summer, I'll be surprised honestly.Midfield: We're definitely adding another quality CM in Keita. AOC in a second year under Klopp is going to make a big difference and Lallana is pure class when he's healthy. We missed him against teams that park the bus this season. Can is leaving but he was mostly depth this year. I could see us making another big signing here as well or a promising youth player.Attack: Rumored to be in for Fekir and Pulisic. Definitely has to be a priority considering we won't get lucky with the front 3 health for a second season in a row. I'm dreading the World Cup because of that. I'm not expecting another 32 goals from Salah but even without it, I'm not worried about goals from this team at all. Conclusion: Shouldn't lose anybody important (Can, Origi, Mignolet... not sure who else), should add quality depth in key positions (hopefully a CB, CM, winger, possibly GK). Absolutely have to be in title race next year, no excuses.

Spurs ITK folks suggest we're also very serious about Pulisic but I have a feeling barring the two Manchester clubs the rest of the big 6 will be shopping on the same aisle at the store it's just where the chips fall. When I get a chance I'll do a similar post for Spurs but I think it will be a big summer for them. Levy needs to back Poch and I think he'll do that. Levy is a lot of things but a fool isn't one of them. He realizes that we need to continue to show ambition and take this thing to the next level.
5/14/2018 4:30:34 PM
^^^I actually somehow missed that whole post, but I still mostly agree with the exception of Can. I don't think we have a similar defensive center mid that can come in and make a crunching tackle and maybe muscle a big CF off the ball. With an improved back 4, tho, prob won't be missed and Hendo will still do work.
5/14/2018 4:37:31 PM
Pulisic would fit nice at Spurs or Liverpool imo. I just hope he doesn't end up United for obvious reasons and I'd be concerned about his progress under Mourinho.^ hm I guess I agree kind of. He was inconsistent though. That does bring up one worry about being undersized across the field. I think we'll buy another CM though.
5/15/2018 11:09:13 AM
Both managers would be great fits. I want him in an expansive attacking style and surrounded by world class attackers in training everyday to continue to push him. The US are pinning their next decade on his development so his next club choice is so crucial. The nightmare scenario is going somewhere and then not getting regular match time.

Lols at Welbeck in World Cup squad. Jesus, the entire squad is shit relative to pretty much any European/South America side.
5/16/2018 9:17:42 AM
That midfield is quite pedestrian.
5/16/2018 10:02:50 AM
I like Alli and Henderson has grown on me but it’s complete shit compared to the real powers.Germany’s “D” midfield would start all but at AM.[Edited on May 16, 2018 at 10:36 AM. Reason : And I’m giving Alli the edge charitably over Ozil despite him being a star on the intl stage]
5/16/2018 10:35:05 AM
Who's supposed to be the creator in this group? Dier is absolutely not that and I don't think Henderson can do it. They're too similar of a player in a midfield 2.The Alli/Kane/Sterling/Lingard attack can do some damage though if they click.I'll be keeping an eye on Danny Rose closely. He shat all over the club in that interview and then proceeded to have a poor year in general to the point Everton are the only club expressing interest, and now all of a sudden he's done a 180 after seeing that and basically begging the club for a new deal a couple days ago publicly. I bet if he has a good tournament and they can get some good money on him they'll be happy to unload. As far as rumored targets, the actual legit information sources around the club seem to think Sessegnon, De Ligt, Martial, and Pulisic are top targets with Sess and De Ligt of very high importance to Poch.[Edited on May 16, 2018 at 4:04 PM. There are maybe 3-4 people on here that will watch this but fuck it. Every goal by the best front 3 in the Premier League this season https://youtu.be/X0RyayUVGUEI forgot how many sick goals Salah scored. That goal against Spurs at Anfield... beauty
5/17/2018 7:31:50 PM
I honestly think that was the match of the season from a neutral perspective. Bangers on both sides and a ridiculous amount of drama.
5/18/2018 8:11:04 AM
I would say as a neutral, it's probably United-City at the Etihad. I remember the Burnley-Chelsea game early on being pretty exciting. Spurs-Leicester final day was a hell of a game too. My favorite as a Liverpool fan was the City win at Anfield. Other good neutral games involving Liverpool were Arsenal 3-3, Watford 3-3 opening day, and the Spurs 2-2.
