how big is that missed chip shot FG earlier...
1/7/2018 7:49:09 PM
Well NO would have kicked it away
1/7/2018 7:50:17 PM
^^Or the dropped TD that led to going for the kick in the first place...
1/7/2018 7:51:09 PM
If that was in the pocket, these refs must wear Jncos[Edited on January 7, 2018 at 8:02 PM. Reason : ]
1/7/2018 7:51:26 PM
Well fuck
1/7/2018 7:52:21 PM
well that was an awful last play...he shouldnt have thrown that bomb on 3rd and 23.
1/7/2018 7:53:33 PM
blocking just broke down on that last drive too much, i didn't mind the int that much, if you get in to your head to just deflect it it can turn in to some freak tip that gets completed, now that missed field goal/touchdown on the other hand.....
1/7/2018 7:53:47 PM
this loss is squarely on Gano and CMCGano for the 25 yard missCMC for choking on the block for intentional grounding
1/7/2018 7:54:07 PM
^Again.... DROPPED F**ING TOUCHDOWN.
1/7/2018 7:55:24 PM
Got too cute. Should have tried for half on third down. Could have been DPI on the Bomb to funchess
1/7/2018 7:56:03 PM
Live look at the left side of the line:
1/7/2018 7:56:47 PM
on the plus side at least we only have one area of need in the off season, although a young pass rusher if pepp retires would be nice
1/7/2018 7:58:25 PM
would’ve been nice to have had an average o-line
1/7/2018 8:02:54 PM
Alvin Kamara handing out candy for his 23 rushing yards is peak New Orleans.
1/7/2018 8:04:22 PM
That drop by Clay followed by the missed chip shot by Gano will haunt me all offseason. Shame to waste easily Cam's best playoff performance. The defense got worked but honestly there wasn't much defense for the way Brees was throwing the ball, he's a future hall of famer for a reason.
1/7/2018 8:07:05 PM
Funchess pulling a Daria is nearly as bad as those 1st quarter misses
1/7/2018 8:15:17 PM
Hard to get too upset about a game that the HC didn't seem to give much of a shit about.
1/7/2018 8:20:10 PM
^^I'm gonna give him a pass. Playing with one arm, Lattimore locking up on him plus safety help over the top, and still came down with a number of big catches. The offensive line falling apart on that last drive was what killed it.[Edited on January 7, 2018 at 8:21 PM. Reason : .]
1/7/2018 8:20:56 PM
yeah funchess was playing with one arm for the final quarter. a healthy WR makes the catch in the end zone, but funchess was clearly not 100%. not sure he should've been in the game based on how he was holding that arm.now...clay's drop in the 1st Q. jesus christ.[Edited on January 7, 2018 at 8:34 PM. 1/7/2018 8:34:25 PM
Cam bouncing back from that hit will be forgotten the second they show him with a towel in preseason.Probably a huge sales night for Brees' advocare products. [Edited on January 7, 2018 at 8:45 PM. Reason : .]
1/7/2018 8:35:26 PM
Speedbump McGeealso, Funchess says he lost the ball in the lights. it’d be one thing if he made and effort towards the ball and dropped it, but not even making an effort is a bad look, injured or not[Edited on January 7, 2018 at 8:49 PM. Reason : .]
1/7/2018 8:45:44 PM
it looks bad. no way around that.
1/7/2018 8:59:57 PM
Don't worry guys, Marty Hurney will make this team much better this off-season!
1/7/2018 10:34:07 PM
it’s a shame he gave Speedbump McGee so much $$$
1/7/2018 10:40:25 PM
I'll say this about Kalil, he did improve during the season and wasn't as much of a liability down the stretch as people make him out to be. He was hardly the only lineman who played badly last night, his brother and Trai were responsible for a lot pressures, including the one that got Cam hurt. Cam Jordan was right, they seemed to want it more. With 5 current or former Pro Bowlers/All-Pros on that line, they should have been better on that last drive. You also have to look at how his contract was structured. The first two years come with a relatively modest cap hit and then we can cut him before year 3 to save on the rest of it. People always look at the headline numbers, but this was really a 2 year contract with an option to retain him if warranted by his play. At some point we have to stop putting stop gaps at left tackle, and they saw an opportunity with Matt to solidify the position for years to come. It's the NFL, sometimes shit doesn't work out.Edit: Looking at it again, Jordan got the intentional grounding lined up on the left against Daryl Williams. So really the two biggest pressures of the game had nothing to do with Matt.[Edited on January 8, 2018 at 12:13 PM. Reason : .]

Beat it Shula.
1/9/2018 12:12:13 PM
Me to Hurney:I am just stunned, never saw this coming. I thought we'd be stuck with those bums as long as Rivera was the coach.
1/9/2018 12:14:28 PM
Wow. Damn. Color me shocked. Nice consolation prize for losing on Sunday.Who do we bring in? Coach Drinkwitz??????
1/9/2018 12:22:03 PM
1/9/2018 12:33:33 PM
so we're a playoff team with Greg Olsen, Cam Newton, CMC, and Funchess. that seems like it could attract some good OC candidates.
1/9/2018 1:28:04 PM
Norv Turner?lots of chatter about them already having somebody
1/9/2018 1:42:00 PM
No thank you. I saw enough of Norv wasting an offense that had Philip Rivers, LaDainian Tomlinson, Antonio Gates and Vincent Jackson. Would be a lateral move at best.
1/9/2018 1:51:20 PM
as head coach he’s always been a good offensive coordinator who is better served as a coordinator than a head coach [Edited on January 9, 2018 at 2:20 PM. Reason : those offenses were great]
1/9/2018 2:11:00 PM
I mean, they were ok. I'm not gonna sit here and say they were bad, but I saw a lot of the same problems from those offenses that I see here. Some games they would look unstoppable, but others they would go 3 quarters before getting a touchdown with a ton of 3 and outs. That's why they lost in playoffs, one bad game is all it takes. A lot of the same predictable running plays and reverses that were either hit or miss. Schematically they were very similar to what Shula was running here. I want someone who knows how to use a QB with Cam's unique skill set, no more square peg round hole.Norv is definitely a better situational play caller though, I'll give him that. Hard to do worse in that area than Shula though.[Edited on January 9, 2018 at 2:42 PM. Reason : .]
1/9/2018 2:40:28 PM
they also lost in the playoffs because their best two players were injured in consecutive playoffs
1/9/2018 2:47:50 PM
I will say, based on Ron's presser, it does sound a lot like Norv is the guy.
1/9/2018 3:36:29 PM
it’s not an ideal hire, but it’s definitely an upgrade
1/9/2018 3:44:56 PM
So what would be an ideal hire in your opinion?
1/9/2018 4:14:01 PM
If I could pick any name out of a hat, it'd be John DeFilippo who's currently the Eagle's QB coach. But with him getting head coaching buzz, that's probably a pipe dream. Ultimately, Ron is always going to want to run the ball and control clock so he'll never go for someone with a dramatically different offensive philosophy, but I at least wanted someone who'd had success with a QB similar to Cam before. I guess we'll see if Turner can adapt.
1/9/2018 5:02:14 PM
Bring back the Chud
1/9/2018 5:47:10 PM
not a fan of the Turner hire
1/11/2018 3:12:00 PM
Do you like Turner more than shula?
1/11/2018 3:18:52 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXSF5OP5lqwNot long and worth a watch, especially for the bit at the beginning with Phil. I do like how he laments about the Chargers letting guys like VJax and Sproles walk, good to know he wasn't on board with that any more than us fans. The Chargers really did screw Phil with those moves.
1/11/2018 3:52:17 PM
^^ yup
1/11/2018 5:43:11 PM
Turner is a really good OC to have to make newton better. I don't see what's not to like.
1/11/2018 6:45:10 PM
1/11/2018 10:23:35 PM
New DC, OC, and Owner. Same transition lenses.
1/22/2018 9:24:13 PM
Rivera is a defensive guy so my guess is its always been his defensive philosophy that the DC's have run. The Big question mark is do they pay Norwell. I live in Atlanta and they have been talking about him a lot down here as a target and comparing him to an Alex Mack type move. Do they target Jarvis Landry in FA as well since they need a receiving option?
1/23/2018 1:28:41 PM
From everything I've heard, Norwell is as good as gone and we're not going to spend 8 figures a year on yet another offensive lineman.
1/23/2018 1:45:58 PM
Not muh Marty Hurney too!
