Mike and Mike this morning talking about rams trading for a coach with rivera's name out there. I'd be all over that if I'm the panthers

Do the Rams have any good OTs? Otherwise it's hard to trade a coach who won coach of the year twice in three years

yup. we can't keep ignoring the problems at OL. the patchwork OL just isn't sustainable when it comes to building a franchise and protecting your MVP winning QB. we skated by for a few years with that approach...patchwork, veteran journeyman OL and a similar approach in the secondary. it caught up to us this year.

Rams offensive line is garbage + Rams have no first round pick = Panthers would be morons to trade a good head coach to them.

We desperately need an OT, but the problem with our top 10 pick this year is that this might be the worst OL draft class in the last 4-5 years. I'm sure guys will shoot up the draft board because of need, but so far only 1 OT in the top 15 and even he isn't considered a slam-dunk LT.

Sad to think how bad losing freaking Michael Oher derailed our season.

Since there's no top 10 OT in this year draft, I'd prefer a safety or RB in first round. Somebody like Adams from LSU or Fournette/Dalvin Cook would be ideal.

I don't watch much CFB and do almost zero player evaluation when I do so i don't have any firm feelings on these guys but based on needs these are the guys I think will be mocked to us, howe likely I think DG would be to pick them, and my loose initial pre combine opinions

1) Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama.
- Very likely if still available, DG LOVES his hog mollies and OT is clearly a position of need
- Love it. We need OT badly and it's a relatively cheap way to address the position.

2) Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama.
- Low likelihood. I feel like DG thinks he can draft a lower round CB and add some reclamation projects
- I am not a fan of drafting CBs in the 1st round. Same philosophy as DG here. Bust probability too high

3) Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan.
- Medium-high likelihood. DG likes reclamation projects at S but last year was a disaster and he has ST value
- I'd be happy with the pick he seems like a high impact player at a position of need.

4) Jamal Adams, S, LSU.
- Medium likelihood. Same as above, more well rounded with less speed. DG leans toward Peppers TO potential
- If DG drafts him I'm down with the pick. If he grades out well rounded he will be useful.

5) Trading Down
- Medium likelihood. We already have an extra 3rd rd pk and DG might feel like it's an opportunity to add depth
- Nah. We need more elite talent. Trading down is better for a rebuild. I'd rather add reclamation FAs for depth

6) Trading Up
- Low likelihood. Not DG's style and no one on except maybe Robinson (Fournette?) I think he'd do it for
- If DG makes the move for Robinson I'm in favor of it as I'll assume he has graded out extremely well.

7) Another fucking DT!

(I could actually see him doing this as a backup plan if we cant sign Kawann Short

Going to be very disappointed if we aren't in full tank mode this weekend.

Fournette or Robinson would likely be our 1st round pick.

WR and DT would annoy me some in the 1st but neither would shock me.

Peppers in the 1st would be an AWFUL pick. He's getting such mixed reviews from NFL scouts including some awful reviews. Seems like a guy that fits multiple positions but likely won't impact any 1 position his first year in the league. Not sure we really need a project with a top 10 pick.

I think Peppers is the most overhyped player in the country. And I loved the Shaq Thompson pick (and the Thomas Davis pick when that one happened). If he can gain 40+ pounds he'll be a decent OLB, but if not he'll be a average or worse safety.

I'd rather the Panthers look at Adams from LSU if they're gonna take a safety. But there and OL are where I'd guess the panthers would be looking hardest in the first round. (unless something crazy like garrett or allen falling happens.)

It wouldn't surprise me to see them take a corner in the 2nd round again. It's a very good group of corners and a guy like Tankersly from Clemson could be there.

About the only positive I'd take away from this season is the secondary did get much better. We're younger and much more skilled at the corner position than we were a year ago. Still need a second safety that's worth a damn as Tre Boston is just terrible, but overall, we're trending up back there.

Overall, I'm willing to give the front office, coaching staff, and Cam a mulligan on this season. A lot of things caught up to us, especially our neglect of the offensive line and Cam's play style getting him injured. I still think Rivera is just ok and Shula is below average, but I don't think blowing it all up is worth the risk. We could do a lot worst.

Gettleman made a huge blunder though. I don't get why he gets all blustery acting like he's smarter than everyone else by letting Josh Norman go in his prime... then turning around and signing Kalil and oher who are injury prone and borderline washed up to disastrous extensions with the savings.

We knew we needed to address the oline but now we have much less cap space to do so

Also I like Short's statement about being agreeable to the franchise tag.

It would pay him about $14m and it's pretty obviously the best option for us so let's hope Gettleman doesn't screw this one up

Man, as badly as we need a tackle, if Malik Hooker is available at 8 ........ generational talent at safety.

Well Short said he'd take the franchise tag but then back-tracked with what his agent said.

Sounds like he'll take his time on signing that but at least it's apparent he wants to be here next year. Just hope we can come to agreeable terms for both sides because I hate investing that much into a DT.

Hooker declaring for the draft changes up the top 10.

I'd be happy with Hooker or Adams with our first pick but doubt Hooker slides.

Fournette should be the pick if he's there. He's Bo Jackson/Tecmo Bowl-level good when healthy. Just absolutely vicious combo of power and speed.

If he's not there, gotta think we go with one of the big 3 safeties -- Peppers, Hooker, or Allen. Really need a SS so we can slide Coleman back to FS

I wonder if we'll be able to afford Mario Williams now that the Dolphins are releasing him. Coming off of career low numbers - could be a bargain!

^^I won't nothing to do with Peppers but would love the other 2 with our first pick.

^Meh. Mario is on cruise control just getting paid. We'd have to get him dirt cheap to make it worth the investment given how poorly he's played the last year or two.

Can I rant?

Falcon about to win the Super Bowl. Whole team is legit. I can't stand it
That means I have watched every team in NFC south win a ring but the team I fucking root for! The year after we lost and in a year where we were terrible.
The panthers last year went against an all time NFL top defense. The falcons aren't even seeing anything close that.

I still don't know who was Cam was passing it to last year. Matt Ryan has fucking H Jones who is better than all Carolina receivers ever

God I hope I'm trolled if the falcons lose.

Who the fuck is "H Jones"? Are you talking about 1st round WR Julio Jones? Yeah, he's better than any Panther WR in history, but he's probably going to end up one of the best WRs of all-time if he can stay healthy, so that's not shocking, when is the last time we took the #1 WR in the draft with a top 10 pick?

Falcons hit a hot streak with FAs and draft picks. It reminds me of the Seahawks(Quinn was a great hire), but there window is 2-3 years to be dominant on offense. Freeman, Coleman, and Gabriel were great non-1st round picks Then they still have Beasley on his rookie deal too and he's turned out to be a great pass rusher.

The real key here though has been fixing their OL with high draft picks, key veterans, and a really nice UDFA pick-up. Picking up Levitre for a 6th round pick, picking up veteran Chris Chester last year from the Skins helped, and signing Alex Mack were all huge moves that solidified a group that frankly cost them the playoffs last year. Jake Matthew was a 1st round pick that is now playing like it. Schraeder was a UDFA that has been grading out as a top 10 RT on PFF.

Falcons have 29.6 million of their cap invested in their starting OL this season.
Panthers have 19.3 million of their cap invested in their starting OL this season.

Falcons have been really lucky with injuries this season, Panthers were decimated along the OL.

If we start investing in OL and staying healthy, we'll be fine.

the panthers have only ever taken 2 WRs in the first round, the highest being Rae Carruth.

So the 3 finalists for the Walter Payton man of the year were Olsen, Larry Fitzgerald and Eli Manning. The winner was a tie between Eli and Fitz.
