Man, another cheating scandal would just be deflating.

when are the measured the first time and when were the measured the second time? if the first measurement is inside a conditioned area before the game, and the second measurement is immediately after they are cold from being outside, that seems like it explains the difference.

i wonder how consistently they were under inflated.i.e. if minimum is 12.5, and they were all at 10.5 then i would assume air temperature (fill with very hot air), or deliberately letting air out. both are obvious tampering.if they were more randomly distributed I would assume that play could have impacted the air pressure (slightly Leaky balls let out more air when spiked, kicked et cetra), or casually letting air out (i.e. players using a pin), but not pervasive planned leaking.
1/21/2015 11:45:51 AM
Assuming no air goes into or out of the footballT1=Temperature 1 =140 degrees FP1=Pressure 1 =12.5T2=Temperature 2= 40 degrees FP2 Pressure 2 =10.5I think I'm right here that if they fill the balls with 140 degree air, that over the 2 hour rest period in the cold they would fall to 10.5
1/21/2015 11:56:01 AM
I mean, the Colts balls didn't inflate in the same temperature/environment but 11 of the 12 Pats balls did?Riiiiiiight, haha.Bill back to his cheating habits. Another slap on the wrist(fine, loss of pick) to go with another SB ring, haha.

Does anyone else have no idea who to cheer for between Seattle and New England?

1/21/2015 1:55:17 PM
root for the stadium to collapse like I do everytime the deflatriots aren't playing the Panthers
1/21/2015 1:56:32 PM
I still don't know how the Pats could've controlled when their balls were used. Each team provides 12 balls. But after that, the officials determine when a new ball is used, right? Wouldn't Luck end up gripping and ripping some of the underinflated balls too? And are some under inflated balls going to cause Luck's overrated ass to get blown out by 40 points?
1/21/2015 2:53:54 PM
each team changes out the balls when they are on offense, right?
1/21/2015 2:57:21 PM
^Yes. All 12 balls the Patriots provided would ONLY be used by the Patriots on offense. So no, Luck wouldn't have a chance to try throwing on of the deflated balls.
1/21/2015 3:00:18 PM
And not one official noticed it when they would get the ball from a Pats offensive player after the play was over, and toss it to another official to mark it at the proper yardline? I dunno.
1/21/2015 3:15:54 PM
This would be a non issue if it weren't the patriots and they had already been punished for cheating. Lets not forget the shit the pulled against baltimore that wasnt really cheating by the rules, but was pretty clearly meant to be as close to cheating as you can get. Like others have said if it means winning superbowls then whatever fines or draft picks they lose was worth it anyways.
1/21/2015 3:27:08 PM
Well Spygate netted $500,000 from Bill and a 1st round draft pick. This is a 2nd offense...though I'd be surprised if they did more than that. Can't keep them out of the SB, think the most severe thing they'd consider is banning Bill from the SB(and any remaining planning leading up to it).
1/21/2015 3:34:41 PM
^ i could see suspended Bill being like "oh i'm still coming to the game, i'm still standing on the sidelines and their is nothing you can do about it"
1/21/2015 3:39:04 PM
if there is an explicit penalty for this exact offense in the rulebook, enforce that penaltyit's not like the NFL hasn't made it up as they've gone before, but I don't see a reason why the Patriots should be disciplined any harsher than any other teamEDIT: I read earlier that the penalty for breaking the rule is a $25,000 fine, but I can't seem to find that rule, so who knows?[Edited on January 21, 2015 at 4:11 PM. 1/21/2015 3:45:09 PM
what is penalty then?
1/21/2015 3:59:22 PM
on PTI they both referenced the penalty I read earlier, which is a $25,000 fine
1/21/2015 5:35:22 PM
I really just can't bring myself to care about the Patriots cheating (again)The NFL just needs to go to a standard ball instead of each team providing their own.
1/21/2015 6:10:58 PM
Tree, Refs did notice, and they tested some of the footballs at halftime. I didn't think it was a big deal untill I saw a demonstration, I think it could significantly help the qb with accuracy in the rain/cold[Edited on January 21, 2015 at 7:20 PM. Reason : .]

This is an interesting look at team rosters and how far they are from Super Bowl quality teams. http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/12179331/how-many-players-away-super-bowl-teamThe Panthers page is interesting, listed as a contending team but with more "bad" players than the league average. I think Kelvin Benjamin should be in the "good" category as opposed to average, and could very well be "elite" by the end of next season. Add one more good wide receiver to the mix, continue growth in the RB rotation, and replace Hardy and we're there.
1/27/2015 6:15:02 PM
Kelvin is good, but he is pretty damn far from being elite(this "elite" bullshit has gotta stop)

who gives a shit if he's smart or not? I'd much rather hear him speak/fuck with the media than hear anything Russell Wilson saysLynch says more than Russell does without saying much
1/27/2015 11:23:26 PM
I support Marshawn Lynch in his quest to shun the media. I understand why the NFL makes players address the media, because if they didn't, they wouldn't get the constant attention and narrative that they want for the league. But their policy should be more relaxed. There are plenty of companies that make their employees sign agreements saying they will not talk to the media about their business if asked. In lots of cases, only upper management can interview with tv or newspaper sources.
1/27/2015 11:23:48 PM
His schtick is old. But if he wants to keep paying fines to the league, he can.
