12/15/2011 8:01:23 AM
I will be there tonight so history tells me the chances of a loss are pretty high.

Last night was the first time all season I've heard chants that weren't started from the cues of Vuvuzela guy. Great atmosphere for last night's game, it actually felt like we were a good team for a small time there.
12/16/2011 1:07:17 PM
they were absolutely flying after going up 3-2definitely a fun game to be at
12/16/2011 1:23:33 PM
Slightly off topic, Mike Milbury charged in assaulting a 12 year old.On topic, think Bowman is here to stay? I personally felt like he should've been here all year along with Boychuk
12/16/2011 1:41:31 PM
All you have to know about Kirk Muller:
12/16/2011 1:49:10 PM
>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Maurice, in that regard
12/16/2011 7:23:48 PM
The difference between the playing time that Bowman got under Mo versus last night epitomizes how every single thing about Paul Maurice is "play not to lose."While that works with certain talent groups (it was perfect for the '02 team), it doesn't work with kids, especially kids with speed and hands.VIVE LE MULLER

I took this picture in the hallway just outside the Canes' locker room walking into graduation this morningany idea who might use this thing?

hey look an overtime loss.
12/18/2011 7:59:48 PM
Over/under 10 OT games on when we get an OT win?I'll go over (probably 11 or 12). This team just has no gas left defensively after 3.
12/18/2011 8:26:26 PM
No less than four completely brainless drop/forced passes on the offensive blue line in the last three minutes/OT. Cam Ward deserves a bonus.
12/18/2011 11:27:43 PM
For Vinyl... thought you might appreciate these.. or not
12/19/2011 1:55:01 PM
Out at the game tonight hoping to see another win! Asking for three in a row for me may be a bit much though.
12/21/2011 5:44:31 PM
Riley Nash in for Tim Brent tonight
12/21/2011 5:50:34 PM
Anyone know of a feed? It's blacked out on Center Ice and I think that's just the jumbo-tron feed.Just saw Brent is out indefinitely with a concussion? I'm all for player safety and such, but I believe the concussion thing in pro sports is getting a little out of control.[Edited on December 21, 2011 at 6:02 PM. Reason : Brent]
12/21/2011 5:57:19 PM
a) Tim Brent has a lower body injury, I think?

I really should read and clarify my posts... but it's hard to break habits. All for player safety and such meaning being more proactive on boarding, knee-on-knee, shots to the head, etc... but also hooking and interference being watched closely speeds the game up. At higher impact pace, major injuries like these are going to rise.It might just be that I am keeping up with the league as a whole more this year than ever before, but it seems like everyday someone else has a concussion. Obviously it is amplified when 3 of the Canes are plagued by one right now. I did say professional sports, not just hockey, and the coverage on concussions is just crazy. Without posting a novel, I think a serious look in to the equipment needs to be done by both the NFL and NHL. Not only with concussions, but with A/MCL's also. Perhaps part of the craziness is that there is more traceability and accountability required by the league and organizations, but I don't think speeding the game up is going to help in the trend of concussions rising. And yes, the concussions have a massive negative impact on players post career a la LaFontaine, Lindros, etc etc... I think my ultimate point is, I hope that wasn't hodgepodge...

Get rid of hard-capped shoulder and elbow pads and you'd have a lot less concussions.A) Because the pads would be less weapon-like.B) Because no one is going to dip his shoulder at a skull if he's going to break his collarbone in the process.Same goes for football helmets. In the leather helmet days, no one was using their helmet as a weapon. With the technology involved in helmets today, you could probably be 90% as safe as you are now even without the hard shell (look at bike helmets, the hard outer shell is practically non-existent), and just as safe once someone made an effort to design a proper helmet with that concept in mind. Now everyone will say I'm crazy, but this overkill equipment has made everyone fearless. If you're worried about injuring yourself by throwing a dangerous hit, you're much less likely to throw it.
12/22/2011 7:23:33 PM
Can't really put the toothpaste back in the tube at this pointI do wonder if more could be done to make NHL helmets more shock absorbent.
