I think an all red kit would be nice with a red helmet with maybe a single white stripe down the center like we used to have back in the day

...not a fan of red shirt/white pants I like seeing it all one color. an all black kit would be sick

idk about the white stripe but i do like all red. i'm also adding my vote to get rid of the 3-wolf logo on the middle of the chest... it always looked weird to me and i absolutely hate the typographic design + banner mess they splattered across all our branding.

it'd be great to have multiple helmets and jerseys for special occasions. i'm not complaining about our current jerseys, they are much better than the 2004-2007 IMO (i think they looked like plastic)

we don't need new helmets or a black uniform. we just need to go all white and all red. no red/white.

i didn't mind the red 04-07 uniforms but the numbers on the white uniforms looked like cheap plastic.

I do think that some throwback jerseys/throwback helmets (plain S from the '60s or the diamond S) would be cool for a one game a year type of thing. I didn't like the jerseys we wore with Amato after Rivers because they used too much black, keep it all red and white.

also, can we get back to football, and stop being like pack pride and have every thread become a nike/adidas and "what the jersey should look like" discussion. C'MON

what is so sad, like short bus sad, is how on IC someone will randomly post "Tarrrrrr" and for pages you'll never see someone post "heeeels". It's like a hanging high five, or they don't understand that you return the high five.

Now i'm alot more excited for football season. The progress that TOB says is taking place in the 2ndary is encouraging because i know he's not trying to make everything all rainbows and unicorns. He's always been very honest about what he thought of the team, even when i think most of us, didn't want to believe him.

Everyone pray for no injuries in today's scrimmage. No torn ACL's, no twisted ankles, no spine hair-line fractures, etc.

http://ncstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1112822

Quote :
"Thurs. Practice Report: Secondary Improving

After holding its first scrimmage of the preseason Monday night, the Pack will conduct another one Friday after a two-a-day Wednesday and a workout under the scorching heat in Raleigh Thursday afternoon.

Head coach Tom O'Brien said he is looking for more enthusiasm Friday since the scrimmage will be more like an actual game and officials will be present to flag penalties.

In the first scrimmage, the running backs received a healthy dose of work. There were 55 rushes compared to just 20 passes. NC State is looking to replace departed seniors Toney Baker and Jamelle Eugene. Redshirt junior Curtis Underwood and sophomore James Washington are the top returning running backs, and freshmen Anthony Creecy and Mustafa Greene are also in the mix.

"We're still rotating guys in there," O'Brien said. "Nobody's grab it by the throat now and said, 'I'm the back.' Hopefully we'll just keep working at it."

Friday will also be another chance for redshirt junior quarterback Russell Wilson to regain some of the form he lost while playing exclusively baseball since the end of the 2009 football season.

"He has a long ways to go," O'Brien stated. "You just don't come back and pick it up and do it. We're about a third of the way through practice, so you still got two thirds of the way to go. So hopefully he'll be ready to do it by the time we finish."

O'Brien also said that one of the keys to Friday's scrimmage will be lining up correctly. Both lines have been aided by the addition of transfers. Junior college import Mikel Overgaard started preseason camp as the starter at right tackle.

"He looks fine," O'Brien noted. "He hasn't been [an offensive lineman]. He was, but he wasn't. He spent his time at the junior college at offensive lineman for the first time but it's a little different out here than it was out there. He would be the first to admit it."

Northeastern transfer David Akinniyi is battling for a starting job at defensive end. He could line up next to senior defensive tackle Natanu Mageo, himself a junior college transfer.

"There were definite holes on the lines, on both sides of the line," O'Brien said. "We couldn't have survived without junior college kids. We're lucky to have found the right kids to come in. Akinniyi was a big get for us. Mageo has done a nice job. Overgaard gives us some options on the offensive line. We couldn't have made it without JC transfers because of the depth when we got here."

***

Perhaps the biggest area of concern for NC State entering preseason camp was the secondary. The Pack's defensive backs were scorched at times last year, and although plenty of players return, there is just one scholarship DB on the roster that is not a sophomore or freshman, and that's redshirt junior Justin Byers.

Despite the youth, O'Brien has seen improvement.

"I think the guys that have played have shown they have some idea where they are going, and a couple of the freshmen, we're giving them an opportunity," O'Brien said. "They look pretty athletic. Now whether they are going to be able to help us, I don't know. Certainly the guys that played last year, if you put on a tape from last year to this time to now there would certainly be a difference to the level they are playing at right now."

One thing that is still a work in progress is leadership in the secondary, something O'Brien says should come in time.

"In the heat it's hard to have leaders," O'Brien said. "Everyone is grasping for air and thirsting for water. The best thing about today is we made it through the heat. The leadership will express itself the more comfortable they become knowing where they are going, what they are doing. I think right now make sure they are lined up right, make sure they are in the right position make sure they understand where they are going and what they are doing.""

O'Brien Confident in Talent
Quote :
"After his players filed into bleachers and posed for the team picture today, N.C. State coach Tom O'Brien expressed confidence that they can meet some of the team's goals for this season.

The Wolfpack has yet to post a winning season under O'Brien and is 16-21 during his three-year tenure. During his Meet the Pack Day news conference with reporters, O'Brien said this team can do better.

"We have enough weapons, I believe, offensively and defensively to have a winning season and get to a bowl game," O'Brien said.

O'Brien acknowledged that injuries could change that situation. Over the last three seasons, the Wolfpack has faced a devastating series of long-term injuries to key players such as Toney Baker, Anthony Hill, Donald Bowens and Nate Irving that have crippled the team.

This season, O'Brien said, the team doesn't have unlimited depth but has enough to weather some injuries. He expressed hope that injuries won't hit his team as hard this season.

"When you've been around long enough, it's going to even out," O'Brien said. "We've got to get some good bounces here somewhere another. We don't count on it, but you hope for it."

Creecy, Greene impress. After performing well in the team's second preseason scrimmage Friday night, freshman running backs Anthony Creecy and Mustafa Greene have a shot at earning the team's No. 3 running back position.

"Mustafa Greene and Tony Creecy look to be pretty talented," O'Brien said. "They're in there trying to figure out who's fighting for a spot on the team."

Junior Curtis Underwood and sophomore James Washington still are competing for the No. 1 spot at running back. O'Brien plans to rotate two running backs and get playing time for a third back.

High praise for Crisp. O'Brien said former Raleigh Athens Drive offensive tackle Robert Crisp, the jewel of N.C. State's 2010 recruiting class, is talented enough to be an All-Pro in the NFL some day.

O'Brien said Crisp's head is swimming during his first preseason camp because of the complexity of the college game, but said Crisp is everything the Wolfpack coaches thought he could be when they recruited him.

"He has that makeup where he doesn't get down and he gets back to the huddle and goes back out and forgets about the last play and goes on to the next one," O'Brien said. "And that's a good trait to have."

Players sorry. Defensive tackle J.R. Sweezy and offensive tackle Jake Vermiglio said they were sorry for an offseason incident that led to charges against them that were later dismissed.

Sweezy, Vermiglio and defensive tackle Markus Kuhn were cited April 24 for simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaing a dwelling for the purpose of using a controlled substance after police found about six grams of marijuana in their off-campus apartment, according to a Raleigh police search warrant.

A fourth player, tight end George Bryan, has a Sept. 3 court date on a single charge of maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of using a controlled substance. All charges against Sweezy, Vermiglio and Kuhn were dismissed after a judge ruled police improperly searched the apartment.

"I've thought long and hard about what I was going to say about this," Vermiglio said. "I thought the best way to say it is, we all made a mistake. It was just a bad decision. I'd like to deeply apologize to the Wolfpack Nation, my teammates, my coaches and my family. We embarrassed them, and hopefully we'll show that we mean business on the field this year."

'Perfect Storm'. Wide receiver and team tri-captain Jarvis Williams said offensive coordinator Dana Bible has come up with a nickname for a Wolfpack offense that averaged 30.3 points per game last season.

Bible is calling the offense "The Perfect Storm."

"We've got receivers that want to catch the ball," Williams said. "We've got a quarterback that can throw the ball. We've got a backup quarterback that can also throw the ball and make plays. We have one of the best tight ends in the country. We've got an offensive coordinator that wants to throw the ball. So there's just no way around it. And defenses are going to have troubles with us this year.""

yeah I'm not particularly worried about tailback depth, especially since it's not serious enough to keep them out of the first game. There's always Leggett if worse comes to worst, and he looked plenty competent in the spring game.

I'd be willing to bet that TOB is using the Nate Irving strategy on the RB's and holding them out of practice so they don't get injured. He needs them to make it to the first game.

"NC State held a scrimmage on Tuesday evening, but coach Tom O’Brien did not release any individual statistics.

As a team, the offense rushed 36 times for 122 yards and completed 11 of 29 passes for 88 yards and one touchdown. The defense intercepted four passes during the drills and made eight tackles for loss and four sacks.

“There was a lot of enthusiasm out there tonight,” said O'Brien, according to the team's practice report. “It was a good scrimmage from the standpoint of giving us many teachable moments. We will use tonight’s film to learn from and get better.”

Take from that what you will. NC State is off today because classes start."
