Prado has gotten a lot better over the past year working with Glenn Hubbard once it became clear he was the 2B of the future, but he is still only average. As for the Braves, they have great pitching, okay hitting (good OBP, but zero power or clutch hitting), and piss poor defense. How many teams lose games solely because of shit defense three times in two weeks?
8/10/2010 1:52:00 PM
I think we just saw Chipper's last play ever
8/10/2010 9:38:10 PM
8/10/2010 9:43:49 PM
what happened?
8/10/2010 9:53:42 PM
He landed awkwardly on his left leg after making a Derek Jeter He-Man throw from foul territory trying to prove to rflong he's still got it. Left the game limping, said it was his knee, maybe not as bad as it looked.
8/10/2010 9:57:54 PM
are we seriously losing to the fucking astros again
8/10/2010 10:27:27 PM
BROOKS CONRAD... does special things against the NL Central.
8/10/2010 10:40:16 PM
I haven't watched the Braves in years but I was at the game tonight. There were a ton of pissed off Astros fans. It was awesome
8/11/2010 12:02:49 AM
another terrible showing by Gonzalez at SS, the guy needs to get over this spell.it was nice to see Glaus actually hit something deep again. Here's to Chipper's injury being less than it looked!
8/11/2010 8:56:12 AM
8/11/2010 9:08:10 AM
8/11/2010 9:12:32 AM
another blown save by Billy Wagner. WTF!?
8/11/2010 4:33:29 PM
Dammit I forgot they were playing early[Edited on August 11, 2010 at 4:53 PM. Reason : But I'm glad I turned it on in time! Great 10th]
8/11/2010 4:43:15 PM
McCann FTW!
8/11/2010 4:53:30 PM
woooooo
8/11/2010 4:54:53 PM
Niiiiiiiice.
8/11/2010 4:56:01 PM
ncsuftw1 = Braves fan exposed???[Edited on August 11, 2010 at 4:56 PM. Reason : Third grand slam of the season? I remember one about a month ago. When was #1?]
This great inning is going to overshadow what is Wagner's 3rd or 4th blown save in the last 4 weeks? if not more in less time?
8/11/2010 4:57:50 PM
It was the 5thI think the first grand slam may have been Conrad's GS against the Reds.Conrad has 2. Prado has 1. McCann has 1. I don't know who has the 5th.[Edited on August 11, 2010 at 4:58 PM. Reason : GS]
8/11/2010 4:58:03 PM
i'm driving the bandwagon(just purchased MLB.TV)
8/11/2010 5:00:04 PM
and the errors continue (on gamecast, can't see what happened)
8/11/2010 5:04:23 PM
McCann has been tearing shit up since he won the All Star game. Also news sounds slightly optimistic on Chipper. MRI is tomorrow, but supposedly the knee did not swell up too bad. Fingers crossed.Prado could be back by next week and play 3B for Chipper. O'Flaherty should be back soon too.
8/11/2010 5:06:25 PM
lol at that routine catch by MelkyWhat a fuckup
8/11/2010 5:08:24 PM
The last error shouldn't have been an error....Soft grounder to third base, Conrad charges but the ball skips under his hand. The guy would have been safe even if Conrad gets the ball.Horrible route to the ball Melky
8/11/2010 5:08:32 PM
at least we didnt have to wait long, glad they were able to get it done.could Conrad be a legitimate everyday third basemen? Perhaps let him play third, Prado back at second, and let Infante take a few game from Gonzalez to clear that guy's head?]
8/11/2010 5:12:56 PM
I told YOU PEOPLE, Braves defense sucks.
8/11/2010 5:12:57 PM
8/11/2010 5:19:26 PM
Wagner now has 7 blown saves on the season, which is the 2nd highest in the national league, I'm going to guess that Brad Lidge is number 1 in that category. Venters should be the closer.
8/11/2010 8:53:56 PM
It's actually Tyler Clippard, which isn't really fair because he's blowing them in like the 7th or 8th.Wagner's blown 2 on unearned runs, and he looks like he's still pitching pretty well. For the month he still has a 2.57 ERA and 7 Ks in 7 IP. He might need some rest or something, but I think he'll be alright.
8/11/2010 9:02:32 PM
Torn ACL, Chipper done for the year (/career)
8/12/2010 12:23:02 PM
Yup...just read that.So do we go after someone or do we fill in with who we have?
8/12/2010 12:33:50 PM
FUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
8/12/2010 12:39:07 PM
Yeah, Chip's bat was finally coming alive, Conrad is not the answer. Related: I fell asleep last night watching game 6 of the 95 WS on ESPN Classic. So awesome.
8/12/2010 12:41:45 PM
One rumor states that might go after Chone Figgins if he clears waivers....
8/12/2010 12:45:01 PM
Doesn't he have a three-year dealThat has bad idea written all over it
8/12/2010 12:46:01 PM
What about moving Prado to 3rd (when he comes back) and keeping Infante at 2nd? I think Prado is good enough to make the transition, either way I agree Conrad is not the answer at 3rd.
8/12/2010 12:46:05 PM
Prado has played nearly as many innings at third as Infante has over their careers. I don't see why you'd move Prado off second, though. Neither has much range, but Infante probably has the better arm.
8/12/2010 12:49:06 PM
this news. it saddens me.
8/12/2010 1:16:43 PM
Brian McCann vows to hit a grand slam in every remaining game this season
8/12/2010 1:18:23 PM
Damn that sucks, but it was pretty obvious that it was a serious injury. Wonder if he'll even consider coming back. I know he would not want his career to end like that.Prado is probably the best short term answer at 3B. Writers at the AJC are saying that he is the better of the two between in Infante at 3B. Either way Infante just got even more PT. Maybe the Braves can go after a guy like Pedro Feliz, i.e. a guy that has sucked this year, but is good defensively and has shown he can hit.
8/12/2010 1:30:05 PM
This means they have to put guys on base.
8/12/2010 1:31:37 PM
Well fuck. I hate to see Chipper go out like that.
8/12/2010 1:35:20 PM
I think if we go after anyone on waivers, the emphasis has to be on defense. Maybe a lite version of Infante, someone who can at least play third and short. I trust the offense enough and pitching (apart from a spotty Wagner) has been great lately.
8/12/2010 1:37:45 PM
sometime when the team is up against it and the breaks are beating the boys, tell them to go out there with all they've got and win just one for the Chipper.
8/12/2010 1:42:47 PM
I can't see a GM as cautious as Wren taking on a Figgins contract that is now looked upon so poorly by every front office in the league. Especially since Wren is careful not to upset clubhouse chemistry. After the way they played the Phils this week, I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade for Casey Blake
8/12/2010 2:12:52 PM
bye!
8/12/2010 2:18:50 PM
Ozzie Virgil just called me with the inside info that he heard from Albert Hall... Chipper will pinch hit in the playoffs and hit a game winning HR and limp around bases Kirk Gibson like and THEN retire.
8/12/2010 5:19:24 PM
time to trade for LaRoche again.. Glaus can still play 3B right?
8/12/2010 7:49:59 PM
Glaus at third? Is The Mummy not available? Lieutenant Dan?
8/12/2010 8:26:05 PM
I was talking to a guy last night about what the Braves should do and he said put Glaus at 3B and call up Freeman. While I like the idea of having Freeman available down the stretch, putting Glaus at 3B makes me want to I hope Chipper rehabs and decides to come back for one more season. I'd hate to see him go out like that. Maybe Cox will decide to return if Chipper returns. It seems like those two need to retire together. Also thanks to fat ass Broxton and Casey Blake for gift wrapping a win for the Phillies. How the fuck do you blow a 9-2 in the course of two innings? The Phillies are playing way over their head given that Howard, Victorino, and Utley are all out. The return of Polanco has made a huge impact on that lineup. I am going to curse him too. Polanco is horrible at defense. Please blow out your ACL now.
