3/10/2010 1:48:53 PM
"any video converter" does a good job for any format i've thrown at it as well
3/10/2010 2:15:19 PM
someone needs to root the backflip
3/10/2010 7:11:47 PM
I've got room for one more 1 by 2 (or is it 2 by 1?) widget on my home screen. Any ideas on what I should get?
3/10/2010 9:28:58 PM
alright, I just got a Samsung Moment with Sprint... what apps do I need? And is there a way to put the weather an a clock on the background? or in a banner at the top?
3/11/2010 8:00:11 AM
Yes, yes there is.
3/11/2010 8:29:28 AM
I need a tutor for this thing
3/11/2010 11:23:15 AM

3/11/2010 1:46:23 PM
I've been googling, there's a ton of stuff about the android. finally figured out the widgets thing
3/11/2010 2:57:17 PM
New look and yes I'm a widget whore.
3/11/2010 5:47:05 PM
I'm thinking of switching from iPhone to Android once the Dell Mini 5 arrives.

As much hate as the press was giving the moto backflip its actually a nice device. Put a micro sd card in for whatever music storage you want and its the best smartphone att carries. I can't wait to see the phone after it gets 2.1
3/14/2010 2:41:03 PM
I got an HTC hero in mint condition.. anybody wana trade with a TP2?
3/14/2010 6:38:47 PM
What's RIM?
3/14/2010 9:23:57 PM
is that a serious question? Blackberry developer...
3/14/2010 9:25:43 PM
Yes
3/14/2010 9:26:55 PM
Research In Motion... the people that make Blackberry.
3/14/2010 9:38:00 PM
speaking of the tp2, they have android running on it with a few quirkshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa1Eu_hzX8Q

GODDAMMIT WHERE THE FUCK IS 2.1 VERIZON? GET WITH IT FFS
3/15/2010 4:49:46 PM
Quit waiting and just root/install. It's not like it's brain surgery. [Edited on March 15, 2010 at 4:51 PM. Reason : ]

3/15/2010 5:16:14 PM
nevermind...you can only do it if you get the google number
3/15/2010 5:22:33 PM
Just open the google voice app, hit the menu button and compose. You can also do it online at google.com/voice
3/15/2010 5:24:07 PM
I'd rather just wait than to fuck with it... I'll vent my waiting frustration by pissing and moaning impotently on a messageboard in the meantime.
3/15/2010 6:31:36 PM
^ Sprint is supposed to be updating the Hero/Moment to Android 2.X early Q2. Who knows when that will be though.
3/15/2010 7:23:26 PM
Motorola needs to fucking release 2.1 to their phones already
3/15/2010 8:52:23 PM
i know most Apple fanboi's are going to come in here and say the 3GS smoked 'em with 1.6M in 7 days, aye, the iPhone is still a much bigger seller, but this is a more accurate comparison because this is a) the android's first-generation device that came out (with big backing) and b) it was released in already saturated consumer smartphone market, whereas the iPhone was the first big consumer smartphoneone thing that they left out is the fact that the NexusOne was on T-mobile, which i think is why the numbers are so low. I think once the NexusOne comes out on Verizon, the numbers will jump. Although I still think the DROID is the better phone.[Edited on March 16, 2010 at 11:29 AM. Reason : ,]
3/16/2010 11:28:08 AM
Prospero, what's the best guide online for rooting to 2.1?
3/16/2010 11:54:34 AM
^^I think too many people put too much into the whole first smartphone/no competition thing with the iPhone. While that's true, it was also the first of it's kind and the very large majority of consumers couldn't see a need or want for it. Now, smartphones are everyday devices for a large percentage of consumers so while the market is more saturated, there's also MUCH more of a market for the devices. The iPhone pretty much had to MAKE a market. I also really don't get why it really matters anyway unless you're a fanboy for one side or the other. *edit* don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you're a fanboy or anything. I'm just asking WHY this matters so much to people? I've never understood it.^^^ Is it Motorola or is it Verizon? From what I understand for me (Eris), Verizon has 2.1 in hand from HTC. It's like owning a BB all over again with them taking forever to test it before they release it.Also, new (supposedly better) 2.1 root leak for the Eris: http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/16/droid-eris-rooted-to-2-1-but-look-before-you-leap/[Edited on March 16, 2010 at 12:06 PM. Thanks. I actually meant that for you and not Prospero, but I got your names confused.
3/16/2010 12:19:08 PM
best thing about that way is it's pretty much one touch to go back to an unrooted stock 2.0.1.
3/16/2010 12:22:33 PM
Any complications with contacts, downloaded apps, or files/photos I have saved to my phone?
3/16/2010 12:25:28 PM
you shouldn't lose anything when rooting or installing the recovery image. It's usually good to wipe the phone when installing the roms, so that will clear out your contacts, settings, apps and screen layouts. Once you log back into your google account, your contacts should resync and the apps will be available to redownload from the market. You can also use Astro File Manager to backup and restore apps. Anything on the SD card should be fine.
3/16/2010 12:32:57 PM
How many of you guys actually use Google Sync for contacts? I tried it months ago and I have about 50-60 contacts that get all fucked up because I use the "File As" field on Outlook.[Edited on March 16, 2010 at 12:47 PM. Reason : ]
3/16/2010 12:46:54 PM
I try to just so I can have the people that I add randomly on both my phone and in Outlook. My contacts in Outlook are a mess as a result. I've given up trying to organize it anymore and just let it have 2-4 copies of the same contact. As long as I'm still able to search to find a name easily, I'll leave it alone.
3/16/2010 1:29:01 PM
I exported the contacts from my storm to a .csv file and then just imported that into gmail.Looks like the N1 is available for AT&T nowhttp://www.androidcentral.com/att-rogers-get-their-own-3g-compatible-nexus-one-finally
3/16/2010 1:32:26 PM
If you go in gmail there is a wizard that will seek out and merge the duplicate contacts.
