The problem is trolls make up probably 1/2 (1/3 if you wanna be really conservative) of all posts in TSB. If you don't respond to trolls you cut the 8 posts a day down to 4, which is pretty god damn slim pickings.

Its almost like "troll" is a buzzword used by e-snowflakes when they encounter a worldview that doesn't match their own...

They are fine with discussing opinions as long as its inside of their box. Maybe some of them can operate outside of that box but know they don't really have an argument prepared. Some of them have decorated the box so nicely that they don't want it to go to waste. For whatever reason, they crumble under anxiety when they see something outside of that box but still feel the need to respond so the name-calling is where they go. "Troll" is just the internet version of this phenomenon.

Then theres the possibility that they just don't know what the word means.

It's 2017 and most of us have been posting on TWW for 10+ years......we know EXACTLY what a troll is. We also all pretty much know your posting history (trollololol). But these are desperate times. You're basically the inept kid we put way out in right field just so we can fill out the baseball roster. We need you, but that doesn't mean we want you to get the ball.

tl'dr - crybabies threatening to cancel NYT subscriptions over an opinion piece they don't agree with.

Lmao. The leftist backlash over that piece is everything wrong with the regressive left in a nutshell.

I guess the journalist didn't realize the only people reading #FakeNews NYT are leftist fanatics that get triggered over anything that isn't lip service to their regressive ideology.

The bigger problem is that people shouldn't be taking any news source as gospel anyway. The way they are now is that they sign on to a newspaper and run with everything that paper prints. Now they feel uncomfortable because they realize they might not be able to do that anymore. How dare the NYTIMES challenge us to have to think for ourselves!

I appreciate you telling me how to vote and live my life but I'll cancel and subscribe to a newspaper that I can blindly follow without ever inducing critical thought or debate.

Quote :
"Turning the tables on Media Matters, which has rallied advertisers against several top conservative talk show hosts, two conservative groups are launching new initiatives aiming to adopt the left’s tactics against liberals like Rachel Maddow.

The groups plan to pressure advertisers for left-leaning shows like Maddow’s on MSNBC, in hopes that the sponsors will pull their ads. They charge that Maddow and other liberal hosts are peddling conspiracy theories and smearing conservatives with personal attacks."

I follow one of these conservative groups on Twitter, initially thinking that they might pinpoint legitimate liberal bias found in mainstream news outlets, but they essentially just view anything that's doesn't reflect right-wing viewpoints as liberal bias.

It's an interesting perspective, if nothing else.

Pretty shitty tactic by the left to try and target conservative speakers with astroturfed, Soros-sponsored fake complaints to pull advertisers. Glad the right is fighting back.

I find myself going back and forth, questioning whether the intentions of groups like this are sincere or nefarious.

Take this case, for example: they seem to disregard the reasoning behind the boycotts of Sean Hannity's programs - that the conspiracy theory that he's been espousing focuses primarily upon a recently deceased individual whose family has requested that he stop - and, instead, seem to have concluded that the calls for boycotts were simply due to Sean Hannity espousing a conspiracy theory, in general.

http://money.cnn.com/2017/06/26/media/cnn-announcement-retracted-article/index.html

Three journalists leaving CNN after retracted article

Quote :
"Three CNN journalists, including the executive editor in charge of a new investigative unit, have resigned after the publication of a Russia-related article that was retracted.

Thomas Frank, who wrote the story in question; Eric Lichtblau, an editor in the unit; and Lex Haris, who oversaw the unit, have all left CNN.

"In the aftermath of the retraction of a story published on CNN.com, CNN has accepted the resignations of the employees involved in the story's publication," a spokesman said Monday evening.

An internal investigation by CNN management found that some standard editorial processes were not followed when the article was published, people briefed on the results of the investigation said.
The story, which reported that Congress was investigating a "Russian investment fund with ties to Trump officials," cited a single anonymous source.

These types of stories are typically reviewed by several departments within CNN -- including fact-checkers, journalism standards experts and lawyers -- before publication.

This breakdown in editorial workflow disturbed the CNN executives who learned about it.

In a staff meeting Monday afternoon, investigative unit members were told that the retraction did not mean the facts of the story were necessarily wrong. Rather, it meant that "the story wasn't solid enough to publish as-is," one of the people briefed on the investigation said.

The reporting about the Russian investment fund and Trump officials was not relayed on CNN's television channels, but it was published on the web and shared on social media.

On Friday, one of the people named in the story, Trump ally Anthony Scaramucci, disputed Frank's reporting and said, "I did nothing wrong."

Friday night, once it was determined that editorial processes were not followed, CNN deleted the story from CNN.com. Soon thereafter, the story was officially retracted and replaced with an editor's note.

The piece "did not meet CNN's editorial standards and has been retracted," the note said. "Links to the story have been disabled."

The editor's note also included an apology to Scaramucci.

"CNN did the right thing. Classy move. Apology accepted," Scaramucci tweeted the next morning.

"Everyone makes mistakes. Moving on."

The departures of Haris, Lichtblau and Frank are likely to come as a surprise to colleagues, particularly given the reputations of the three men.

Frank worked for USA Today and Newsday for three decades, pursuing investigations and covering the Iraq war as an embedded reporter, before coming to work at CNN.

He was part of an ambitious new investigative unit that was created last winter, bringing together existing teams from within the company and new hires like Lichtblau.

A veteran of The New York Times who won a Pulitzer Prize for national reporting in 2006, Lichtblau joined CNN just three months ago.

Haris, who was named the executive editor of CNN Investigates in January, was previously the executive editor of CNNMoney.

"On Friday, CNN retracted a story published by my team. As Executive Editor of that team, I have resigned," Haris said in a statement. "I've been with CNN since 2001, and am sure about one thing: This is a news organization that prizes accuracy and fairness above all else. I am leaving, but will carry those principles wherever I go.""

In all seriousness, CNN sucks not because it is fake but because of sensationalism and trolling for clicks. The hiring of fucking Cilizza was the final nail in the coffin.

That said, it seems they handled this latest gaffe exactly as they should. Retracted, apologized and forced resignations. If Fox News was held to same standard Bret Baier would be gone after Clinton FBI scoop in October and Hannity would be gone after Seth Rich nonsense. You know what did happen? Hannity just received a conservative media reward and the presenter was a fucking Federalist hack.

That's silly.

No one can prove Ted Cruz isn't the Zodiac Killer so it would totally be cool if Lester Holt opened up with that tonight.

I would say I'd expect more but I know you've been all in with some bizarre Reddit and 4chan stuff in the past too.

You say that as if the partisan circle jerk isn't even more prevalent on the left. Don't get me started on the Hollywood leftist hackery, patting themselves on the back with constant award ceremonies they give to themselves, and then force leftist policies down the audience's throat...

Jim Acosta.

Definitely good for some laughs as he continually gets shut out by the White House, and whines like a snowflake about it.

On CNN.

Does he think his response is going to help him get questions?

It isn't about him. It's about Trump's campaign to make truth no longer matter, attacking the free press and muddying up the waters.

Are you fucking retarded? Ted Cruz was born after the first Zodiac murders occurred. There's a world of difference between that and the possibility that Seth Rich was a political assassination.
