I forgot the market was closed today. Maybe I'll sell half if it hits 70.
3/21/2008 9:01:45 PM
I think I'll hold for a bit. I'll probably get bitten in the ass, but...we'll see how things go.
3/21/2008 11:22:38 PM
I bought at 57.90 and sold 24 hours later at 61.I'm content but I feel so unsatisfied.Stocks are boring , I'm a gambler at heart and tiny returns cease to amuse me.
3/22/2008 12:21:51 AM
bought QLD on Wednesday for 65.16 ... up past 70 today.I should have bought more, but I am trying to get used to its trading cycle first before putting too much into individual trades.I think I should probably sell it soon though, as I dont see the BULL taking control of this market by any stretch of the imagination, but rather I think we will keep seeing volitility that only warrants making longterm investments, or making lots of high movement short term trades. 2-4 week investments though will probably prove to come out relatively flat, IMO.

holy shitmy financials are only down .56% now.never thought id see the day

so JPMorgan now wants to pay $10 per share for Bear Stearns. wow.i was up there last week and we were standing outside of the Bear Stearns building talking about how ironic this whole thing is. it started with a mess related to securities derived from real estate, and now they were worth nothing more than their own real estate...later on that evening i was hanging out with a bunch of i-bankers and they were talking about how in 98 when LTCM needed a bailout, Bear Stearns declined to participate. they all said the fed was being vengeful and could've made the bailout happen much sooner. i was of the opinion it was the other banks that were being vengeful, as it is of no interest/is not in the nature of the fed to be vengeful. even then, the other banks don't want to burn any bridges with individuals they might have to work with on deals later. i think its just Karma playing out:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-Term_Capital_Management (scroll down to 1998 bailout)
3/24/2008 9:21:44 AM
^The Fed should say something about this - basically vialed disapproval. The $2 price was important for squashing moral hazard. This generates some concerns.
3/24/2008 10:24:58 AM
WTF is up with V?
3/24/2008 1:08:48 PM
Probably the people who got in before the IPO at 44 are getting out, Visa will make money even when everyone else doesn't, wouldn't worry if you're in it for the long haul.
3/24/2008 1:30:11 PM
Yeah, I just threw it in my 2008 roth and plan on sitting it. I'd only be tempted to sell if it had a vmware like runupp.
3/24/2008 1:32:19 PM

Sirius and XM got the ok to merge.Hopefully holding their stock for 2 years will finally pay off.
3/24/2008 3:09:28 PM
Yeah when $17 billion is dumped in an IPO and the stock takes off 20 points immediately you have to wonder if there is enough buying resistance when the free money decides to dump. That is why I got out pretty quickly, but I'll likely sign back up when we establish some resistance a few weeks in.
3/25/2008 6:22:32 AM
Sold my QLD after yesterdays runup (+8% in one day).Moving it all to the ROTH in preparation for massive day trading

Who has found some decent ETFs that are worth mentioning? You show me yours and I'll show you mine.
3/25/2008 10:36:06 AM
I like my QQQQ I bought 5 years ago.
3/25/2008 10:40:11 AM
I could never hold QQQQ for very long without getting greedy and dumping it on a big day.ETV, ETW, and ETJ make up over 12% of my portfolio and have for 3 years.
3/25/2008 10:43:43 AM
SPY ^ and just FYI, those three are technically close-ended investment companies. [Edited on March 25, 2008 at 10:50 AM. Reason : .]

Bump for today.
3/31/2008 10:23:37 AM
Jesus. I looked at my profit/loss summary for today and almost had a heart attack. Then I realized that MO had spun off PM and the gain made up for the huge loss.Sadly I did the same thing when MO spun off KFT.

I've made a killing with covered calls on BIDU thanks to the volatility, although I came close to losing my shirt a number of times.I think I'll sell half of my IAU on its next up day.

Picked up POT a while back at 153. Looking strong all last week and still today. Think I'll sit on it and wait for a split and see where it heads from there.
4/7/2008 11:50:47 AM
I'm thinking of grabbing some more V, maybe another 25ish shares. Thoughts?
4/7/2008 11:54:46 AM
whats a good way to get started buying stock. ive saved up a few thousand that i think i should invest in somthing long term(1-3 yrs). also, what is the best trading site to use?
4/7/2008 12:02:14 PM
1. Thats not long term2. Buy a mutual fund3. Scottrade
4/7/2008 12:07:41 PM
"Long term" as defined for tax purposes is >1 year. In all honestly, though, that isn't true "long term".
4/7/2008 12:15:42 PM
do you guys think housing builders will take off amid low interest rates?
4/7/2008 12:38:04 PM
Alright I just dumped my CSCO and grabbed 40 shares of V. Let's hope this works...edit: I've noticed over the past few years that the stocks I really want to put some money in but don't, usually turn out to be real winners. I've decided to stop being timid.[Edited on April 7, 2008 at 12:53 PM. Reason : ]

I got my annual report from C in the mail today. I opened it expecting either an apology card or a few $100 bills.
4/8/2008 11:10:44 PM
i've had to take a little time off to accumulate some more loot in my "funds available for trading".at the moment, there are some stocks i'm interested in, but nothing i feel overwhelmingly compelled to buy...so i'll just keep adding money to the pot and waiting for the moment to strike.
