I don't know if I would be upset about that, at this point. With the Mets and the Phils up top, it's like watching a nightmare sometimes.
7/19/2008 8:22:34 PM
Yeah but when there isn't much on TV it would be nice to see a team that I like(even if they are sucking) playing a little ball.
7/19/2008 8:58:09 PM
the ghost of willie harris is upon us, haha
7/19/2008 9:04:09 PM
good fucking GOD damn dismantle this fucking team
7/20/2008 3:15:49 PM
Yeah, it's time to start selling. I thought if we came out strong, we could stick it out until the end of the month at least. But losing two out of three to the Nationals right out of the gate is the death knell. Pack it up, so long Tex, Hudson, Glavine, et al. 205 days until pitchers and catchers report.
7/20/2008 3:24:17 PM
braves lost againthis thread needs to die a slow, miserable death......kinda like mike hampton
7/22/2008 10:43:07 PM
We are the worst!
7/22/2008 10:54:43 PM
fyi, you guys are nothing to me now...Phillies are the bigger rival.I'm sure you can build a nice little rivalry with the Fish though
7/25/2008 5:00:23 PM
I wouldn't get too sassy, NY4MEN. I seem to remember a pretty historic chokejob last season...
7/25/2008 6:05:54 PM
7/26/2008 5:59:06 PM
From DOB's blog:Couldn’t make this stuff up: Injury in “area” of ulnar collateral ligament. Wren wouldn’t say anything more or characterize severity of injury until after Hudson sees Dr. Andrews this week.Unbelievable.Wow, talking about piling on......
7/28/2008 8:53:00 PM
you guys are hanging right in this division
7/28/2008 9:12:11 PM
7/28/2008 10:21:33 PM
done: [/season]chipper to the DL also.folks out there are talking tex to the dbacks. wren better draw a hard line and come away with something worthwhile... i'd love to see scherzer headline the return. i like arizona's young team, they are alot like the rays - alot of youth surrounding a few core vets. kotsay and ohman up on the block as well - which is fine with me, they were one and dones anyway.
7/29/2008 9:03:25 AM
Don't mind him, he says that at least once or twice every season. [Edited on July 29, 2008 at 2:09 PM. Reason : ]

tex reportedly to laa for kotchman & pitching prospect(s)
7/29/2008 6:01:56 PM
garbage.
7/29/2008 6:09:01 PM
ill take it
7/29/2008 6:09:44 PM
No idea who the pitching prospects are, so I'll reserve judgment, but Casey Kotchman is about the most boring player in baseball. If this is the real deal, I hope we're getting some world-beater prospects. We gave away a lot to get Tex, I'd hate to see us get nothing in return.[Edited on July 29, 2008 at 6:13 PM. Reason : ]
7/29/2008 6:13:10 PM
wow, the braves are quickly becoming one of the worst teams in baseball. wren is driving the bus right off the cliff. i expect him to trade kotsay, ohman, maybe francouer also. although our pitching is shit, we better not trade soriano or gonzo.
7/29/2008 6:39:25 PM
soooo, looks like I will be sending $25 to NyM410's bitch assfucking unbelievable the shitty luck this team has had this year.I really like Kotsay, hope to keep him around.[Edited on July 29, 2008 at 6:42 PM. Reason : d]
7/29/2008 6:41:11 PM
Its too bad I couldn't convince you to take my 100 dollar betIt was a lock !
7/29/2008 6:47:03 PM
I really don't like this deal at all.
7/29/2008 6:58:26 PM
This deal is shitWe trade the biggest name on the market, the guy we gave up a shit ton to get, for Mr. Vanilla and a 24 year-old with an EqERA around 6.Fire Wren
7/29/2008 8:00:38 PM
it was the best trade offer wren received........i dont love the trade, but there was not a huge need for a 1st baseman. what can u expect????
7/29/2008 8:11:06 PM
7/29/2008 8:11:11 PM
^^Still two days before the trigger had to be pulled.^He wasn't a sunk cost, he was the biggest name available. I have a feeling that by midnight on the 31st he'd have commanded more than this crap.
7/29/2008 8:13:37 PM
I don't think you understand what a sunk cost is
7/29/2008 8:14:26 PM
also we are getting a guy locked up till 2011 and he is pretty cheep. this means we still have a lot of money to play around with next year. we can try to sign a big outfielder and a pitcher like c.c. sabathia
7/29/2008 8:16:24 PM
I understand what a sunk cost is, I misinterpreted your post. Either way, I think we should have recouped more from the loss of Salty, Andrus, and Harrison. Wren got hosed.

^ I disagree about the idea that there was a marker for Tex. Buster Olney did a good report on ESPNews last night and he basically said that no one was truly interested in Tex because most of the teams did not need a 1B or DH. No doubt we lost way more in getting Tex than what we got in return, but atleast we got someone. Kotchman does have a big upside though and the only reason he's hitting below 300 is because he's been in a big slump. He is a prototype 300, 15 Hrs, 85 RBI guy which is okay for a 1B. Its better than fucking Scott Thorman.[Edited on July 30, 2008 at 8:30 AM. Reason : as]
7/30/2008 8:29:15 AM
it sounds like Arizona wouldn't give up Jackson and LAA was willing to let Kotchman go. obviously Jackson was the first choice but there wasn't a huge market for Tex and in all likelihood, this was the best deal out ther. That being said, I'm ok with this deal because, as mentioned above, it keeps Thorman from being an everyday player
7/30/2008 10:10:29 AM
I was at the game (and they obviously didnt show a replay of this shit) but why the fuck did Yunel not throw the ball immediately on that relay??
7/30/2008 11:09:04 PM
anyone?
7/31/2008 11:46:03 AM
this team is dead to meother than popping in here to see what you guys are crying about, i don't follow them anymore this year.not worth too much effort.
7/31/2008 12:14:03 PM
hey, we're better than the nationals.
7/31/2008 12:46:38 PM
7/31/2008 1:01:59 PM
They're on an 8 game losing streak, we're only on 5
7/31/2008 1:04:05 PM
Hudson is doneski needs Tommy john surgery. means he wont pitch for most of next year. what else can go wrong
7/31/2008 5:57:49 PM
Sammons with the 2 run HR, 3 RBI on the nightHampton with 2 RBI also[Edited on July 31, 2008 at 9:08 PM. Reason : .]

There has been several positives in the game tonight:1) Infante is on fire.2) 5 players with multi-hit games (Infante(3), KJ, Kotsay, Escobar, and Sammons (3))3) Sammons with 3 rbi4) Hampton with 2 rbi, and making it through his 2nd start.5) Frenchy's first 2 at bats were fairly decent looking ( 5 for his last 15).[Edited on July 31, 2008 at 9:49 PM. Hudson chooses to go ahead with surgery, supposed to be a 12-month recovery...
8/3/2008 1:44:28 PM
So, the 2009 Opening Day rotation will look like:1. Jurrjens (our best pitcher, but not a #1 yet)2. Reyes (dear god)3. James (seriously?)4. Morton ()5. James Parr?Cole Rohrbough can't get here fast enoughI don't think we'll go after any big free agent starters like Sabathia, next year has to be a real rebuilding year. Kotsay, Hampton, Smoltz, and Glavine will be gone; who knows when Hudson will be back and who knows what Chipper will have left; it'll probably Cox's last year, too; Francoeur and Johnson should be on the block during the winter. We still have a lot of talent in the minors, but no one that will be a real factor until late next year at the earliest. Wren needs to read Schuerholz's 1989-1991 playbook. Is it too early to make the 2010 thread?
8/3/2008 1:56:39 PM
I don't think it's too early. Rebuilding year next year for sure. We need starting pitching and we need it fast.
