If ticket sells are a functionality of team success then the Devils would have been in the cellar for a loooooong time now and wouldn't have 3 Cups under their belt in the span of nine years.

5/19/2007 6:09:06 PM
as a buffalo fan, you're well acquainted with excuses and their utilization every year[Edited on May 19, 2007 at 6:10 PM. Reason : *]
5/19/2007 6:10:39 PM
hmm only you guys say that, you all had a lot of excuses why the canes didn't make the playoffs this year^^^people in buffalo work too and yet we sold out all regular season games and playoffs[Edited on May 19, 2007 at 6:19 PM. Reason : ^^^]
5/19/2007 6:11:28 PM
I definitely agree about how canes fans are bandwagon fans. all those that I have met were def. bandwagon fans. few even admitted that they were.
5/19/2007 6:23:22 PM
Since you are so hell bent on trolling the shit out of us about attendance, let me ask a few questions. In the hockey rich north, where there are no bandwagon fans, why is it that the Sabres averaged just 13,732 fans per game in 95-96?In the hockey rich north, where there are no bandwagon fans, why is it that the Sabres averaged just 16,912 fans per game in 96-97, a year which they opened a brand new arena, won a division title, and advanced to the East semifinals? In the hockey rich north, where there are no bandwagon fans, why is it that the Sabres averaged just 15,635 fans in 97-98, just a season after winning a division title and advancing to the East semifinals? In the hockey rich north, where there are no bandwagon fans, why is it that the Sabres averaged just 13,735 fans in 02-03?In the hockey rich north, where there are no bandwagon fans, why is it that the Sabres averaged just 15,290 fans in 03-04In the hockey rich north, where there are no bandwagon fans, why is it that the Sabres averaged just 16,910 fans per game in 05-06, a year in which the NHL had record attendance and the Sabres advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals?
5/19/2007 6:27:33 PM
let me ask you this, why did all those stats beat the canes every year
5/19/2007 6:29:40 PM
oh the hypocrisy
5/19/2007 6:30:23 PM
Well, let's see.In 95-96 and 96-97 they beat the Hurricanes because the Hurricanes did not exist (unless we want to look up Whalers attendance). In 02-03 they did not beat the Canes; in fact, the Canes averaged nearly 2,000 more fans per game.
5/19/2007 6:32:22 PM
You lose! Please stop this gracefully. Your team put up a good fight. I'll give them that...but come on. And pls don't be comparing Buffalo vs. Carolina. We are a better hockey franchise than you, we have a Cup win, you don't.
5/19/2007 6:32:52 PM
getting lucky one year doesn't determine whether a franchise is better then another
5/19/2007 6:33:47 PM
^^^^^ Because the first two were in the Hartford Civic Center? ]
5/19/2007 6:34:09 PM
^^ um doug weight and mark recchi wanted to come to the hurricanes at the trade deadline to win a cup, so i think they recognized that the team was pretty good, not just lucky.
5/19/2007 6:38:12 PM
5/19/2007 6:41:35 PM
they may have been pretty good, but they were also extremely lucky

5/19/2007 6:54:28 PM
I'd rather have a FREAKING CUP and going to the finals game twice in a 4 year period then getting bumped before even freaking making it there twice in a row. I'm sure 99.9 percent of everyone polled sans the upstate buffalotuckians would agree.SNIFFLE SNIFFLE

5/19/2007 11:55:06 PM
I mean I could go on forever with statistics proving the ignorant Buffalo fans wrong when they call us non fans and their fans the best. Starting with the fact that they were bankrupt no longer than 5 years ago and owned and operated by the NHL just so they wouldnt move out of Buffalo. Nice of them, eh? But anywho... the thing I'm most happy with right now is that THANK GOD we don't have to have our names inscribe on the cup right next to Buffalo... that would've been HORRIBLE. go canes!
5/20/2007 12:22:39 AM
has lindy tried to blame anybody/thing yet?

its funny, mshaul....im not southernim not a canes fan per se'i was just excited to see buffalo get the fuck out.... cheers though
5/20/2007 3:09:59 AM
^yeah but your not the majority, and about them going bankrupt, bufallo is a declining city, not a growing one, a lot of people from buffalo moved cities that are growing, who do you think lives in cary
5/20/2007 7:58:24 AM
http://www.newsobserver.com/796/story/565659.htmleither way you look at it, the majority of canes fans are bandwagon fans. take a group of say....20 that claim they are fans...and you'll be able to prove that the majority of them aren't real fans.
5/20/2007 9:46:05 AM
5/20/2007 10:53:13 AM
^you're not a bandwagon, i'm talking about the fans who only showed up because their team was in the finals, you know kind of how all those people go to walmart and buy a carolina cap when they win the national championship
5/20/2007 10:59:39 AM
^^Exactly. The majority of the fans of most sports teams are bandwagon fans. That's exactly the point I was trying to make with the Buffalo attendance figures I posted. Not to mention the fact that the Hurricanes have only been in Raleigh since 1999. When Buffalo entered the league in 1970 they were getting around 9,000 fans a game. This franchise has nothing to be ashamed of in terms of its fanbase and attendance. A hockey team in Raleigh, North Carolina, less than 10 years into its run in the state, finished 15th out of 30 in attendance. There is a very strong core fanbase here that will go to games no matter how the team is performing, and then there is a strong bandwagon that will pick up when the team is doing well, like with pretty much any team. And finances take a hit? Well no shit. That has nothing to do with bandwagon fans. Last year there were 12 home playoff games with massive increases in ticket prices, and you don't pay player salaries in the playoffs. Now, this thread is supposed to be about the NHL playoffs. If you want to troll Hurricanes fans, there is an offseason thread that could use a few more pages in it. This thread is to talk about the playoffs, such as Buffalo imploding in the third round.
