yea usc seems to not be hustling to their potential
3/23/2007 9:41:42 PM
Okay, so I'm looking at the handbook and it looks like it was not a travel. And the rule is even more lenient than these guys are saying. The shuffling still counts as a travel though.
3/23/2007 9:41:47 PM
Ok you fucking dumbasses:
3/23/2007 9:42:45 PM
^I beat you to it. And you were blabbering about jump stops.Still think you're retarded.

3/23/2007 9:48:43 PM
georgetown traveled
3/23/2007 9:49:22 PM
It's funny, Tim Floyd called Primetime with the Packman earlier this week and told Packer he was looking for his team to run. Everyone laughed at him, so far USC is quicker than UNC.

Art. 3. A player who catches the ball while moving or dribbling may stopand establish a pivot foot as follows:b. When one foot is on the playing court:1. That foot shall be the pivot foot when the other foot touches in astep;2. The player may jump off that foot and simultaneously land onboth; neither foot can then be the pivot foot.
Art. 4. After coming to a stop and establishing the pivot foot:a. The pivot foot may be lifted, but not returned to the playing court,before the ball is released on a pass or try for goal;
3/23/2007 10:05:38 PM
He lost the ball for a second, and when he recaptured it, both feet were on the floor. So you should be quoting Article 2:A player who catches the ball with both feet on the playing court may pivot, using either foot. When one foot is lifted, the other is the pivot foot.[Edited on March 23, 2007 at 10:13 PM. Reason : LOL This is fun.]

yeah that is crap
3/23/2007 10:30:32 PM
I GUESS EVERY SINGLE BASKETBALL COMMENTATOR THAT TALKS ABOUT BASKETBALL FOR A LIVING IS WRONG AND DOES NOT KNOW THE RULE BOOK BY SAYING THAT IT WAS CLEARLY A TRAVEL WHILE THEY WATCH THE REPLAY he pivoted on the second foot before he jumped...he leaned around the defender with a second pivot foot...travel FTW[Edited on March 23, 2007 at 10:46 PM. Reason : .]
3/23/2007 10:45:17 PM
^Yes, they are wrong. They'll be apologizing tomorrow. (And you know it, too. The announcers said its a travel because he lifted the pivot foot, but now you aren't saying that.)Now you are just making rules up that aren't even in the fucking book. I'll take that as your concession, sunshine.HAHAHA, CBS just came up with a completely different reason and a new angle. GUESS THEY WERE WRONG BEFORE. OMFG COMMENTATORS CANT BE WRONG[Edited on March 23, 2007 at 10:57 PM. Reason : sdf]
3/23/2007 10:53:12 PM
game over
3/23/2007 10:55:43 PM
^^he clearly lifted his pivot foot which is IMPLIED WHEN I SAID HE ESTABLISHED A SECOND PIVOT FOOT...it's you and billy packer vs. the worldand obviously the officials aren't going to say it was a bad call no matter what comes out, they protect each other and will say that it was handled correctly. according to the rules, it's a travel.
3/23/2007 10:58:48 PM
oh teh dramaz
3/23/2007 11:04:54 PM
so far, chalk wins
3/23/2007 11:12:27 PM
yeah I don't feel like reading back through all the argument but I can't see how it couldn't be a travel when he did two things:1) elevated his pivot foot and then came back downand 2) switched pivot foots while slipping between defenders to put up the shotyes I think vandy got screwed, but missed calls are a part of the game. they still played a lot better game than I expected out of them and it's a shame it ended like that. I also don't understand why they didn't call a timeout at the end and at least try a longer pass or something. oh well, good season and decent tournament for them especially after slipping a little bit at the end of the regular season

3/23/2007 11:22:51 PM
I'm sick and tired of hearing about Ole Roy's (he gave himself this name, by the way ) game plan. How is "run hard and play physical until the other team gets into foul trouble" a genius game plan?I mean, the commentators were all talking about how good it was that he stuck with his plan. His team is like a huge army of mercenaries compared to the opponents (small bands of volunteers, I guess). Of course, you're gonna stick with the "keep it physical and cause fouls" plan.
3/23/2007 11:27:41 PM
^^oh christ. Another johnny-come-lately idiot. Why don't you just change your story like CBS and be done with it.
3/23/2007 11:43:21 PM
^rotating on your non-pivot foot with the original pivot foot lifted is a travel.first let's define pivot:
3/23/2007 11:51:28 PM
WHO GIVES A DAMN Anyway, it looks like we are going to be in for an incredible Saturday and Sunday. Average seed of Elite 8 teams: 1.625

3/24/2007 12:40:43 AM
dear georgetown, please beat UNC. cool? thanks.sincerely, jmpack15
3/24/2007 12:42:33 AM
^^once you establish a pivot foot, the only way you can lift it without a travel is to jump. it is impossible to have a second pivot foot without traveling. if you watch the play, green establishes his pivot foot and moves around a bit, then steps with his other foot, KEY is that he steps forward and doesn't jump, lifting his original pivot foot and creating a SECOND pivot foot. that extra step before the jump is a travel.if you've played basketball a lot it's a fluid motion, but you can feel that it's a travel. i've been over this exact play 100 times at least because one of my high school teammates thought it was a legit move and was called for traveling 100 times and was constantly 'coached' on the correct way despite leading the league in travels.
3/24/2007 12:49:59 AM
this is the absolute worst ncaa tourney i can remember ever witnessing.no underdogs left, and who really gives a shit about oregon or memphis?
3/24/2007 12:56:19 AM
^Agreed. But we're young. I'm sure it's been worse.^^So you're refusing to read the handbook pretty much?Cause the rules and interpretations make it pretty clear that it was not a travel.
3/24/2007 1:00:03 AM
all the teams left are the teams who have been good all year, osu, carolina, florida, ucla and kansas have been rotating in the top 8-10 all year and georgetown right behind themmemphis has won what like 25 games in a row now? and oregon has been pretty consistant all year, but they are hot nowI think it's been an ok tournament, but it sets up for a lot of very well matched teams to play
3/24/2007 1:24:49 AM
^True.
3/24/2007 1:28:29 AM
no doubt about that, but the tourney has simply been boring. and btw, i have oregon losing in the elite 8 and memphis going to the final four in my bracket... so im happy bout that. only screwup is texas "not beating" UNC.[Edited on March 24, 2007 at 1:29 AM. Reason : 1]

and they're the ones who are still alive the selection committee are the ones responsible for not a lot of upsetsthe ones responsible for all the great match ups[Edited on March 24, 2007 at 2:42 AM. Reason : jdy]

Good choke job by Duke's point guard in the Women's Tourney. Down 1 with 4 seconds, stills the in bounds pass and gets fouled on last second shot. Make 1 to tie, 2 to win... Bricks both.Duke's girls are out. Who really cares, but hell... Good to see Duke lose.
3/24/2007 3:21:34 PM
3/24/2007 3:27:29 PM
