Flag drops in a few... Jimmie Johnson has the pole.
9/30/2007 1:40:09 PM
I just heard them say that Jimmie Johnson's car was actually a back-up car, but they made it into a much better car. They think he has the ability to do good today starting from 43rd.I was wrong earlier, I missed that piece of information, he did have the poll, but had to get a new car... so he was bumped to the back of the field.[Edited on September 30, 2007 at 2:19 PM. biffle didn't maintain pace car speed, got passed, should have finished 3rd.
9/30/2007 8:31:12 PM
its nascarthere are no rulesjust a sanctioning body that decides what's best for the event at any given time
9/30/2007 8:35:23 PM
I sooo wish I could have watched that finish! Stupid meetings!
9/30/2007 10:19:21 PM
does anybody know exactly what expletive tony said on tv? nascar has stated that he wont get fined for this time. "get the fuck out of my way" or something like that?
10/1/2007 5:40:11 AM
I believe it was get the fuck out of here. it wasn't an interview, they just stuck a camera in there when two drivers were talking.
10/1/2007 8:44:03 AM
nascar dropped the ball on this one.
10/1/2007 9:57:52 AM
What is this Biffle finish issue?
10/1/2007 1:40:43 PM
biffle ran out of gas in turn 4, and couldn't maintain pace car speed across the finish line. He went down on the flat apron and slowed up dramatically and bowyer, johnson, and mears passed him because he was going so slow. TECHNICALLY bowyer should have won, with biffle dropping back to 4th. In fact, in the online timing this is what happened. But Nascar decided that biffle had won because he maintained "causious" speed and the other cars shouldn't have passed him before crossing the finish line.
10/1/2007 4:07:12 PM
by nascar technicality since their switch to a fleet style type of caution formation, when a race is going to finish under caution the field is "frozen". Thus by their view even though cars had not crossed the S/F line the race winner had already been determined and Greg Biffle was declared the winner even though he was not the first to cross the finish line.and like they said, they weren't gonna go and tell the 16 team to leave victory lane

10/1/2007 4:58:00 PM
NASCAR did the right thing. Even though the rules sound a little subjective, they would be more subjective if they allowed you to pass slower cars under yellow. How fast can you go under yellow in order to pass a "slow" car????Biffle did cross the line, so he wins. Had he stalled before crossing the line, I could see where the other guys might have reason to make a fuss.

10/1/2007 5:49:14 PM
I thought that when the caution was given, the field was frozen. I thought that's what they've been doing all season too.
10/1/2007 9:13:17 PM
frozen doesn't literally mean nothing can happen. I mean look at robby gordon in the busch race at montreal. he got spun out under caution but dropped back to 14th according to nascar. if you can't keep up the pace under caution, you should definitely be able to be passed.
10/1/2007 9:30:31 PM
That's right, I forgot all about Robby Gordon's incident. But I don't really remember, was that a last lap, finish under caution issue; or was it under a regular caution, or a non-final lap caution?
10/1/2007 11:17:46 PM
it wasn't a last lap, but damn close to it and ended up causing a gwc finish.
10/1/2007 11:57:14 PM
In that case, I assume that their reasoning will be that it was a the final lap under caution.

the city council of concord halted construction. it will resume once some they get their duffel bag full of cash. [Edited on October 3, 2007 at 7:07 AM. Reason : c]
10/3/2007 7:05:14 AM
yeah i read all that stuff this morning. The proposed area for the dragstrip is about 4 miles from where I live. I understand where the residents are coming from, but I also know from living in this town for my entire life that Bruton Smith would have no remorse pulling up the roots and taking off with a new track. He was the demise of Wilkesboro when they wouldn't sell him the other half of that track and now look at that town.I think Concord will ultimately allow the construction to happen, although if you are familiar with that area there, to me, are better locations for the drag strip. And I haven't read too much into what the drag strip will offer, but if it is soley for NHRA events and sactioned events then it won't interfere with the quality of life people are scared that it might. But if it is a public drag strip, much like they have in mooresville, that has weekly amatuer nights and things like that then yes I can see it getting really annoying.
10/3/2007 7:42:29 AM
NASCAR completely made Concord and much of the north Charlotte metro area...it would be just another podunk North Carolina town that didn't bring in millions of tourism dollars a year if it wasn't for Bruton, NASCAR, etc...but apparently some noise pollution in one neighborhood isn't worth your entire town's economy? pleasealso who do yall like at talladega this weekend?
