I like side stones because mine are actually set in the band which is more modern in my opinion. I also like antique settings like the one MaximaDrvr with the side stones/That ring is GORGEOUS!

i got you. just to make sure i'm using my terminology right.thisorthis

ok i think differently...when i think side stones, i think this:which looks old lady to me...and i think "anniversary" when i see onea BAND with diamonds (your top pic) doesn't look old lady to me...it's just not my preference. i looked at a few diamond bands for my wedding band to sit with my solitaire...very pretty; just not my thing when i had it on.the bottom pic is a solitaire.

^^ i really like that second one (not a fan of the first). like as an actual ring, i think it would be really pretty. with a plain wedding band. or obviously it could probably be used as the wedding band i guess for the people that are like all diamonds and sparkle everywhere.but i think it is just really simple as an engagement ring. and different.

I proposed on Friday (successfully ).I bought the ring from QTPie. I am really happy with the ring and would definitely recommend her to anyone who is shopping around. As she was helping me find what I wanted, it was more like getting advise from a buddy than buying from a salesperson. In the end I got everything I wanted at the price I had in mind.More importantly, my girlfriend was stunned and loves the ring!Hard to see but there are 6 little diamonds set in the band on either side and the band is hand engraved.[Edited on May 5, 2009 at 9:16 AM. Hey guys, they are just rocks, lol. I'd rather spend that cash on a trip to the Greek Islands, but then again I'm not a girl. Very nice looking Jewelery though, grats.VV Saying what I think is how I roll dog, you know this.[Edited on May 5, 2009 at 9:45 AM. Reason : -]

It's amazing how many people on The Dubs are getting hitched. 8 years ago, everyone was like 18 or 19 years old and wanted to know what party was the happening spot to be this weekend. Now we're all grown up and planning our lives.
5/5/2009 9:42:18 AM
careful who you say that around.... some women take that shit serious...[Edited on May 5, 2009 at 9:42 AM. Reason : ^^]

^^thats probably part of the reason its hard for there to be a dedicated new user base on this site. think about the number of 25 - 30year olds (excluding the police) who are on this site now compared to in 2001. but that is a discussion for another thread.
5/5/2009 11:39:17 AM
I was just thinking about that the other day, so many people getting engaged/having kids, such a change from a few years ago. LOVE that ring! Very pretty!!!
5/5/2009 1:24:57 PM
thanks everyone!
5/5/2009 1:28:09 PM
^^ i, too, have noticed this...
5/5/2009 2:24:39 PM
I'm jealous of all the girls with rings!
5/11/2009 1:20:45 AM
i need a ring that you can wear nitrile gloves over.where the diamonds are flush mounted, but still beautiful.any suggestions?
5/11/2009 10:33:06 AM
^ My diamond sticks up and I wear gloves all the time. I've never had a problem with the ring poking holes in the glove, if that's what you're concerned about.
5/11/2009 11:51:10 AM
ugh plenty of stuff can eat through nitrile. i keep my rings OFF when working with chemicals
5/11/2009 1:18:07 PM
What you are looking for is called channel set. Several small diamonds so it's cheaper too.
5/11/2009 1:58:49 PM
that band only.
5/11/2009 2:05:25 PM
I want in on this page too: The big 'day' will be happening in the next few weeks.CrazyCurls- If you read that, disregard: I lied.
5/11/2009 5:44:12 PM
Yeah, the channel set rings are usually called wedding bands instead of engagement rings so try looking at them. An example, listed as a wedding band on blue nile but with plenty of diamind to serve as an engagement ringhttp://www.bluenile.com/asscher-cut-diamond-ring_5351?show_all_pages=0
5/11/2009 5:53:45 PM
nice ring daryl.

^^^ Gorgeous

The reason I posted it again was that it is now mine, and no longer the store property.[Edited on May 11, 2009 at 7:28 PM. Reason : Plus, the stone was set for this picture.]

Situation:Diamond came loose, originally from a town I'm not going back to, and the place I used to take it went out of business. What's my best option for getting this gem reset?
5/29/2009 11:10:01 PM
Go to a couple of local shops and get estimates. It shouldn't cost much to fix.
5/30/2009 4:00:41 AM
did you guys propose with the ring in the box or without it?
6/2/2009 7:51:22 AM
in the box
6/2/2009 9:00:28 AM
you unless you plan on hiding the ring in a turd, you gotta go box
6/2/2009 9:22:54 AM
you could just hold the ring by itselfI mean the box is so damn big, its going to be obvious in my pocket
6/2/2009 9:31:45 AM
so how much should i be paying for 1 carat, round cut, in yellow gold?gotta start saving
6/2/2009 9:45:09 AM
6/2/2009 9:57:53 AM
6/2/2009 10:09:01 AM
^^ yeah I guess it'll depend on where I decide to do it, I'm still leaning towards just holding the ring though^ buy it on there too... I just got mine from there and its sweet[Edited on June 2, 2009 at 10:21 AM. Reason : blue nile]

you can get a lot of ring for $3k. i'd venture a guess that you could spend $1,500 on a really nice engagement ring, but i'm not much for those fancy shmancy uber expensive rings so what do i know?
6/2/2009 10:48:08 AM
don't spend less than 4k, otherwise you will get something that you regret and want to replace at some point. i aim to spend 6k, and i'm relatively frugal with my money.
6/2/2009 11:00:35 AM
jesus, what a crock of shit. we spent less than that on my engagement ring and both wedding bands (one on either side) and i am so absolutely happy with my rings. i hate that people spend so much money on shit. bigger is not always better. here's what i got:[Edited on June 2, 2009 at 11:07 AM. depends on who you know, color of the stone, and clarity of the stone"1 carat, round cut"can be a little over $2k to a little over $28kthat's just for the rock, 0.90-1.11most settings probably max out around $500 or so? maybe less maybe more, depends on what you want
