David ... IPVO is now NMKT.Still a sorta volitile stock, but not as many opportunities to play it like there use to be.

damn, AAPL's already gone up so much, though...it's up a bunch more today. I think I'll sit on the cash right now and see if they have a little slide where I can jump in.
6/7/2007 10:22:29 AM
right before the launch of iphone you're looking for a slide?
6/7/2007 11:35:01 AM
Well the stocks always slide when they have positive earning reports, so you never know...
6/7/2007 11:36:52 AM
5k to play with stocks... what should i do
6/7/2007 11:40:55 AM
I'd use it to buy mutual funds
6/7/2007 11:44:44 AM
^^I would invest half of it in low risk mutual funds and then take the other half over to my friend Asadulah who works in securities...
6/7/2007 12:02:05 PM
I'm thinking of buying 4K of VFIFX for the roth this year.
6/7/2007 12:03:23 PM
hook me up with your friend in securities^^

Page is back up. Wish I could say the same for the market.
6/8/2007 10:24:02 AM
just bought some GNVC read this, and then did some other researchhttp://theantibrokers.blogspot.com/
6/8/2007 11:56:43 AM
i think i like the mentality that high success of the iPhone is priced into AAPL already, so as of right now everyone is expecting it to do well, it will be hard for them to beat expectationsbut then again, riding the hype has proven beneficial already, assuming you get out after gains
6/8/2007 1:14:16 PM
^ those are my thoughts tooAAPL has gone up ~$30 since they announced the iPhone. My only concern is that the high price could make it Apple's PS3.
6/8/2007 1:25:39 PM
i've always felt that way about everything appl does. plus, theyr'e nototrious for product delays.but i got tired of watching from the sidelines while it went up, and the analysts are putting 150 and 160 price targets on it.[Edited on June 8, 2007 at 1:33 PM. Reason : plus]
6/8/2007 1:31:34 PM
^ btw, i picked up some GNVC as well.Fidelity didn't have much on them, but after some digging around I found some good news on it.
6/8/2007 1:37:18 PM
wtf is "nototrious" ?

An alarmist view ?http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article1204.html?ref=patrick.net ----------------------------------So, what gives? It's easy. The markets are just responding to the growth in the moneysupply which is in double-digits just about everywhere around the world. When there are more dollars chasing the same number of assets - stocksgo up. It's just that simple. What we're seeing isn't the result ofinvestor confidence or industrial output. Heck no! Stocks are risingbecause our $800 billion current account deficit is recycling into thestock market. What we are really seeing is the first signs of inflation- galloping inflation which will soon spill over into the broadereconomy. If we eliminate the "frothy" exuberance of America's trade deficit, thenthe stock market would be sucking air through a tube right now. And, youcan bet that as soon as our foreign creditors wise-up and start raisinginterest rates the Dow Jones will quickly become the Dow Doldrums andthe economy will nosedive into a 1929-type Depression.------------------------------------
6/11/2007 9:07:51 AM
^Replace "stock market" with "housing market" and you get what people have been saying forever. As they say, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
6/11/2007 9:12:14 AM
maybe, but our government's shitty economic policy HAS to come to a head at some point. I don't think we'll see a 1929-ish crash, but stagflation is very very likely in the coming years.

I went heavy on an options play on CTF when it was around 78 and was ready to bite the bullet when the stock went up to 90, but fortunately for me its fallen to back below 80. If it will stay there for the rest of the week then I'll be happy.

Azn markets up a bit, EU markets down a bit
6/12/2007 3:40:14 AM
^^ below 32, nowMan, I know AAPL is probably a good short term play at $120 based on what all of the "experts" are saying...but I just have this nagging fear that the I-phone is already priced in, and unless everything goes absolutely perfect, we won't see those big gains.[Edited on June 12, 2007 at 10:23 AM. Why does morningstar only give 3 stars to VFINX?I can't decide between getting VFINX or going with VFIFX.
6/12/2007 11:47:01 AM
i went ahead and sucked it up...bought 7 shares of AAPL @ $120.35.

took a 20% smack in the face from GNVCand why did USU come down so much?[Edited on June 12, 2007 at 12:25 PM. Reason : ]
6/12/2007 12:22:45 PM
you think GNVC has hit bottom?wonder if TASR is a good buy. up 9.2% on the following news, but the french deal alone will more than double their annual revenue, and if this causes other countries or entities to consider tasers as well... (ok let's get real, who actually copies the french?)http://www.forbes.com/2007/06/11/taser-france-closer-markets-equity-cx_ra_0611markets45.html?partner=yahootix
6/12/2007 12:31:06 PM
they're also not only dominant in their market--they're pretty much the only game in town. but i just blew the last little bit of money in my acct on AAPL, so there's no point in even really looking into it right now (at least for me)
6/12/2007 12:35:16 PM
^^ its hard to say. i might just take a loss and walk away humbled. i should've gotten out after the first day of losses and waited on the sidelines until it went lower.
6/12/2007 3:00:07 PM
