If he's shown to have knowledge of what was going on, or worse, that he was participating, the NFL is going to lay down a hefty punishment. It's a PR nightmare for them.....

well, seems like they've got that knowledge. You know, because he was indicted.

Vick is toast.

I wish I had cable right now so I could see how ESPN is handling this one. It'll be funny when they finally stop sucking his dick and throw him under the bus.

LOL, The NFL Network is acting like he died.

They are all so sad right now.

The NFL is screwed right now though, being put in a situation to repremand arguably its most markettable player.

My bad, missed that part in the article about they have Vick paying out $23k to the winning dog's owner.... Guess his whole defense about not knowing what was going on doesn't really hold up.

I agree, he's toast.

^^^^^ Doubtful

Quote :
"Goodell certainly faces a litmus test, given the sanctions he has already levied against players such as Tennessee cornerback Pacman Jones, Cincinnati wide receiver Chris Henry and former Chicago defensive tackle Tank Johnson. It should be pointed out, however, that, unlike the players suspended by Goodell to this point, Vick is not a repeat offender in the eyes of the NFL. His actions at times have been offensive, but have never earned him a demerit under Goodell's stewardship. So the Tuesday indictments, in and of themselves, may not be grounds for action by the commissioner. "

^^^ But you have to realize that Vick straight up lied to Goodell about having any involvement whatsoever with the dog fighting operation. Well, now we know that isn't true, he has at least some involvement, and seems to be fucking guilty.

No, if Pac Man hasn't been convicted yet and is suspended for a year, Vick is gonna get burned. The general public and Peta will be screaming in Goodell's ear, that's for sure.

i doubt he'll be suspended until his trial is over... unless it is based on him lying to goddell or something similar

I could see him getting as much as an 8 game suspension but ultimately I think they'll go with a more appropriate 4 game suspension.

I just hope this doesn't affect his on the field play too much, this was shaping up to be his bounceback year now that Jerrious Norwood should be ready to play.

after all the incidents with Vick over the past couple of years this fucker needs to be suspended, at least. If these allegations are true then he needs to go to jail for years. Nike and all other endorsement deals should be cut. I love dogs and anyone who can do this to animals deserves to be punished severely. FUCK YOU MIKE VICK....i hope you are booed out of the stadium...if you ever step foot on it again.

He'll be tried in Richmond, the nation's fastest moving US district court. They're saying trial time in 4 - 6 months. In the middle of football season. They've charged him with conspiracy as well, which is going to be difficult for his lawyers because he doesn't have to be at the dog fights to go to jail for a long time.

Because of Duke LAX, I doubt he will be suspended by the league without pay. However, this is a HUGE distraction for anyone with the enormity of legal problems that Vick now has. I bet you the Falcons bench him, with pay (to release their liability) and they pick up Culpepper for insurance, but Harrington will start. No way Vick takes he first snap.

that is, unless he's convicted and has to do jail time. a 16+ game suspension would seem about right

According to the indictment (and Mike & Mike), Vick was involved in drowning, hanging and fucking electricuting dogs that were not performing well. I hope that piece of shit gets what's coming to him.

If he's found guilty, a 16 game suspension is the least of his worries since he'll be in jail upwards of 6 years and then, after that, even the raiders wouldn't touch him.

I'm not saying the NBA is or isn't a bunch of thugs or that the NFL is or isn't a bunch of thugs but here are some reasons why people "might" perceive them as being thugs....

many of these are situations that arose from "superstars"

1) AI going into clubs and having his posse beat up people
2) Kobe allegedly raping a woman...even though he was acquitted
3) Brawl in Detroit

The list goes on and on and the media loves these stories. The same type of stories have begun to recently rise in the NFL because of the publicity by media giants. Even though it is a small percentage of players who get into trouble in one way or the other, it really hurts when a superstar gets dragged into the limelight.

you're joking right? you've got Leonard Little who gets convicted of vehicular manslaughter and doesnt even get suspended...Ray Carruth has his girl killed...Ray Lewis basically stopped his boys from getting a murder wrap and didnt even get suspended

the only reason people dont give the NFL as bad of a rap as the NBA is because more people like the NFL...the NBA is probably the least violent sport there is...you shove a guy 6 times in a game and you've fouled out...but OH NO THEY HAVE TATTOOS AND CORNROWS...AND THEY'RE NOT COVERED UP BY A HELMET!

you're right...the nfl is the only sport where the athletes actually try...mlb, nba and nhl they are clearly going through the motions just to earn a paycheck...i never watch any nba games but i mean thats what i've heard

you have season tickets to any teams? You know how fucking painful is it to watch a regular season san antonio vs memphis game.....its just not entertaining. I like watching the playoffs but good lord it is hard to watch NBA regular season games...it gives most people fucking diarrhea to watch that shit and that is why tv ratings are dropping like bird shit...because nobody likes it anymore.....and dont give me the "ticket sales are up" shit because anyone can sell an NBA ticket for $15. See what happens to demand in the NFL if you lower the price to $15 bucks. There would be no such thing as an empty seat

I'm very interested to see how the NFL will handle this.....after setting such a harsh precedent with tank, pacman, henry ect......(a little too harsh imo) they'll have to bring the heat on Vick, especially if he's found guilty.....the first NFL lifetime ban?????

and considering Vick is one of the figureheads for the NFL, goodell has some tough calls to make.

The only reasons people see NBA players as thugs and not the NFL is the increased personal visibility of the athletes provided by the uniform, team size/positions (nothing like O-Linemen in the NBA), proximity to the fans. Football is fundementally more impersonal to the fan than basketball. Oh, and there are more white non-European players in the NFL...

It doesn't make it more or less of a league, just don't act like one is on a higher moral plateau...

i have Bobcats season tickets...although I doubt anybody would argue that watching ANY sport live is better than on tv (unless you are in the nose nose nosebleed section)

and do you know why the NFL would sell out every single ticket if they lowered prices to $15? because there are only 8 home games...that has nothing to do with NFL v NBA...it has EVERYTHING To do with length of schedule...8 home games in the NFL, 41 in the NBA, 81 in MLB

the NFL is the shit because it has the perfect schedule length

I just STILL laugh when supposedly diehard college basketball fans are so turned off by the NBA because of false stereotypes

"According to the indictment, Vick decided in his rookie season of 2001, with Phillips and Taylor, to start a dogfighting operation. Vick, who grew up in Newport News, paid $34,000 in June 2001 for a property at 1915 Moonlight Rd. and, according to the indictment, "used this property as the main staging area for housing and training the pit bulls involved in the dogfighting venture and hosting dog fights."

The men, who named their enterprise the "Bad Newz Kennels," developed the property for their dogfighting operation, building a house, "a fence to shield the rear portion of the compound from public view [and] multiple sheds used at various times to house training equipment, injured dogs and organized fights," the indictment said.

The indictment details a series of dogfights in which members of the operation allegedly participated, including several fights in the fall of 2003 when Vick was sidelined with a broken leg.

The indictment said that in April 2007, Peace, Phillips and Vick "executed approximately eight dogs that did not perform well in 'testing' sessions by various methods, including hanging, drowning and/or slamming at least one dog's body to the ground." Vick also is alleged to have consulted with Peace before Peace killed a losing dog by electrocution in 2003.

Vick, 27, who is a registered dog breeder, reportedly has agreed to sell the house. He told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution while in New York for the NFL draft in late April that he was not aware of dogfighting activities on the property, saying he rarely visited it.

^drowing isn't that much effort . . . just tie a cement block to it or put it in a burlap bag or something and throw it in the water. Heck, they could have just been disposing of them in the james river . . . it's pretty close by.

The electrocution is the one that struck me as an overly cruel way to go about it.
