This is vignetting. The lens is a 8mm CIRCULAR fisheye as opposed to a Full Frame fisheye, which wouldn't vignette. The reverse of vignetting is cropping, which occurs in my camera too b/c its image sensor is smaller than the image the lens makes, so I only get the middle portion of it. Otherwise, this would have been a complete circle.[Edited on June 14, 2006 at 7:11 PM. Reason : ]

btw, if i ever take a picture that anyone really likes, pm me and i'll send you it to youbut don't plan on making money on it...that's not cool
6/14/2006 7:56:07 PM
vignetting actually can occur in some lenses when they are wide open.... depending on the lense there may be a bit of a darkening around the edges/corners... not always wide angle.
6/14/2006 11:08:43 PM
for some reason i am kinda happy with how 1970s this shot feels(taken on timer mode while i was in NC last weekend)-ZiP!-

Macro stuff is hard because of the extremely narrow DOF.Dead bee.

That second one is awesome...
6/15/2006 1:22:42 AM
Yeah that's the shit Ronny
6/15/2006 1:23:20 AM
So...it's not an SLR, but it will do everything I want from ithttp://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Canon/canon_s3is.aspThoughts from any of you? My mom has asked the folks on her scrapbooking forum, and she said the ones who have it rave about it, and that the few issues with the previous model have all been fixed.Yes, it's expensive for a non-SLR, but I'm not being able to think of anything that would justify the additional cost of an SLR + lenses
6/16/2006 4:21:03 PM
^looks like a digital SLR with training wheels. i'm sure it produces great pictures, go for it!-ZiP!-
6/16/2006 5:13:08 PM
yeah...its kinda similar to my camera. it'll take good shots. try it out!

i think flowers are one of the best subjects to practice on...you almost ALWAYS get a great picture, and so you can identify the "small" things that you need to work on

any of you guys use Paint.NET for picture processing? Is it any good?I have vowed to not pir8 any software any more, and am looking for a free/cheaper alternative to Photoshop.
6/17/2006 9:41:42 PM
^why have you vowed to not pir8? it's our way of sticking it to "the man". somebody's gotta tell him to lower those prices.

good shoti like that she's rocking a sweater that cost more than everything i'm wearing right now
6/17/2006 11:50:54 PM
question for DSLR users...okay, so my dad and i went to take pictures at the arboretum today for father's day and he uses a nikon film SLR (i can't remember the model)...anyway, he was giving me instruction on f-stop and shutter speed, ISO settings, etc., and i noticed that taking a picture with his SLR feels WAAAAAAY different (better, really) than taking one with my FZ30...his seems to focus more easily, and pictures look more "real" in his viewfinder...is this because his is a film camera and mine is digital? or is it because mine is essentially still just a point-and-shoot and his is an SLR?i'm not complaining about my camera by ANY means...i love it to death and i don't regret buying it in the least (it's great for learning on)...but if this is what i'm missing by not using an SLR...well, damn
6/18/2006 7:18:14 PM

I work at a few nightclubs. I had alot of time so I took this one.I was walking through the Boston Common after work and I took a few shots. The second one is a homeless person on a park bench.
6/19/2006 12:07:09 PM
does that second shot say LOST?
6/19/2006 12:11:46 PM

^^^^^ Curd, Thats a good shot of the guitarist but I think next time in a situation like that, experiment with your flash.[Edited on June 19, 2006 at 12:33 PM. Reason : ]

aw cute dawgie...and we don't bash pictures in this thread.
6/19/2006 12:30:59 PM
Thanks! Sorry, I'm used to the rest of TWW.
6/19/2006 12:31:59 PM
^^^I was going to ask what I could have done to make that shot betterThe fact that he was shaded and the background was so bright caused the problem I assume? I think when I took that one I had set the exposure compensation to +2 to try and expose him better because in the first shot I took he was mostly blacked out. But then when I did that the sky and all the white surfaces were overexposed.[Edited on June 19, 2006 at 12:49 PM. Reason : ;]
6/19/2006 12:48:39 PM
yeah, the flash would have fixed that problem a good bit.
6/19/2006 12:56:33 PM
^^ What you could experiment with is set your manual exposure to give you the correct exposure for the background. Depending on what camera you have, when your flash is up, tell it to meter off your foreground subject and violá.
6/19/2006 1:11:44 PM
Yo Docido, those shots are great!
6/19/2006 3:18:14 PM
BDubLS1, I liked your bee pic. I took this similar one about a year back, and I think he was dead but at least he still had a little eye-luster going there. And then I took this pic right before flunking an exam but I felt good because I helped him up after I took the shot.
6/19/2006 3:24:03 PM
^^ Thanks spöokyjon!^Nice, I love bee-shots.
