Matt,

Here recently you've been attacking my appearance and I can only think of one reason you would do this. I think it is because I hurt your feelings somehow, since I refuse to believe that people are just assholes for the sake of being assholes. I know I give you a lot of shit but I never actually thought you took it seriously. I am very sorry if I hurt your feelings in anyway. Please forgive me. I hope one day we can be friends.

Regretfully yours,
Peter Wayne

Altoid3,
You're a mindless follower in a religion that preaches the destruction of the world, the obliteration of people "not equal" to yourself and the worthlessness of your existence. Don't tell me what will and will not happen to me after I die. If I burn, fine, I would rather burn than spend eternity in magic happy land where you must kiss the foot of some fool. Once you're in heaven you will comit sin, your mind does not change even there, if it does you are no longer a free thinker, just a vegtable. Atleast in hell I maintain my ability to tell God to fuck off. But I guess eternity of being a slave is fine and dandy for you. I hope you enjoy it. In hell I'd plot the destruction of God, once I'm dead my spirit will leve forever so I have eternity to take him down. I'd glady join in, in some regeside, dictators are bad. nerves and other bodly sences are non-existence in a spirit realm, hell cant possible be a place where someone could feel pain dumbass. That would require a physical realm and guess what last time I checked everyone that got burried is still there (unless they had their grave robbed or just simply decomposed) so there body sure as fuck didnt go with them anywhere. So hell is likey a place thats just empty if anything, only punishment is to not be able to be a god slave for eternity and be able to think for yourself, and if thats hell I only welcome it. Lucifer was punished for freethinking and trying to give others the same ability, he was a myarter and the fact that people call him evil suprises me. Just because you think God is good doesnt mean shit to how he really might be. Enjoy your life as a vegtable.

Good call Frosh.

There's nothing that these pseudo-intellectual types can actually learn through the discussion of their opinions or beliefs on a message board. Discussion is no aid to understanding.

Besides, god only knows that there's an immensely powerful force that drives you and others to read these so-called religious threads even though you have no interest in the discussion.

Your rules of posting are truly valuable in this message board that you neither own nor operate.

So this is how "self-affirmed" people communicate? Childish insults and vulgar comments. I trust that the audience recognizes point-evasion when they see it and will leave them to it. Hopefully you realize as well as I do that thus far you've done nothing to invalidate anything that my sarcastic comments implied, but I will not allow myself to be reduced to your juvenile antics.

I'll put it in plain English since sarcasm won't do. For reasons beyond your apparent comprehension, there are many people who learn through debate and discussion. This message board provides a medium to all its users for just such a discussion. A user of this message board is free to post any thread about nearly anything they wish - religion included. If you take issue with that, you ought to notify the owners and operators of the board. You could even send the list of banned "keywords" that you so graciously bestowed upon us to them for consideration. My intuition tells me that the two of them would give you no more than a moment's consideration based solely upon the fundamental truth that you are free to view and ignore any thread as you so choose. Nobody forces you to subject yourself to the humdrum beliefs of those you behold as your inferiors. Furthermore, there is nothing any more original about the stated reasons a person should avoid posting a religious thread than the contents of the religious threads themselves. But still you take issue. Why? I have my own thoughts on that, the most prevalent of which I will tell you. The fact of the matter is that you rely on these poorly-argued religious threads and others like it. They provide you with a medium upon which to postition yourself as the end-all authority on whatever subject and garner the attention and perceived admiration of many. For every all-caps response you post, every weak argument you attack, every 3 syllable word you use and every hapless poster you lambast, you somehow feel that you've satisfied your need for acceptance or your desire to appear as the quasi-alpha male on the Wolf Web. In short, you are little more than an attention-starved intellectual snob with a predilection for pointing out the flaws of others as a means of creating a sense of self-worth.

Though your childish self-centeredness leaves your forsworn against admitting your own faults, mistakes or ineptitudes - meaning that you will doubtless take nothing I say to heart or indeed acknowledge that it's been said at all - I'm confident that you have for better or worse understood every word I've said and have done with you.

I could argue that almost any posts on this entire message board are stupid and have no "need" of being posted.

I wonder if anyone has considered that people on both sides of the Christian debacle on the message are capable of learning more through debate.

ahaha...have you considered the people in the middle of it?

thats where i am...smack dab in the middle...i get harrassed by people who claim christianity for my belief in evolution and the big bang and some of my other beliefs...i get harrassed by people who claim atheism for my belief in god...

it seems to me, that i'm one of the few who has learned anything...at least of the people who post...there are a few others like me...but the people on the far sides of any discussion are the least likely to learn anything because they are so blinded by their own personal beliefs that they are unwilling to listen to other ideas and consider that those ideas might have some validity...

in response to your first post...

Quote :

if you care to re-read frosh's original post you will see that he is actually targetting the people who post attacks on christianity and arent going about trying to learn but are thrusting their "brilliant" observations out into a community that has gone over such thoughts multiple times before and were have been preceeded by much smarter people who have already show logical fallacies or factual errors in just about every topic on religion that has ever come up here...they dont come here to discuss...the people frosh is commenting to come here and attack people's religion with weapons that have been blunted by the effects of time but they dont realize it...he is telling them to attempt to fully learn about something before they talk about it...

(on that note, the people who are christian and attack out at non-christians need to do the same thing)

And what I am telling you is that even some of those who post against Christianity as well as other religions are actually willing and able to listen to and learn from their dissenters.

Blanket generalizations based upon the many cases you've seen is still no justification for debasing all of the people who would post a thread about a religious topic that they do not understand, find implausible or ridiculous. It's prejudicial and just plain stupid. I'd encourage you and everyone else to quit assuming things (all things) about people they don't know.

I think I'm actually getting the point and you just don't like what I think about it. A religious person can start a thread about how they don't understand why a person wouldn't follow a religion just as well as an unreligious person could start a thread about how they don't understand why a person would. Whether they come up with something original to say or completely resolve the issue, which admittedly neither side will, there was still a point to it. A reader may have a slightly different outlook on the particular topic after having given consideration to an opposing viewpoint. Those slight changes add up over time and years later the reader may have an entirely different opinion simply because of what they read.

In summation - if the end game is to change a person's mind, it is possible to do so, but only small parts at a time.
