I used it some what successfully 5 years ago in California. Was basically totally useless in last 4 years, but could have just been Florida. Haven't tried it in the great state of NC.

You can argue the technical merits of teachers all day long, but regardless of their background, we can all agree that compared to most other four year degreed jobs out there, they are wholly underpaid. And yea they get a few months of the year off, as we’ve seen here, they don’t get paid for those two years. You can also argue budgeting, etc, but he’s explained what happened.Justin is your wife a teacher as well?

god, this is fucking depressing

We were able to eke out enough to cover bills, so she took it down. Sorry I haven't posted about it in a bit... working on putting out several other fires on the side. (new coolant leak in my car... it went from fine 2 days ago to going through several full containers in a few minutes.)
8/19/2026 5:37:22 PM
Duct tape didn't hold on a hot and pressurized coolant hose?
8/19/2026 6:20:48 PM
I think it's probably the best thing to quit busting his chops.Nobody got scammed. Can we agree on that?
8/19/2026 7:12:43 PM
I can agree. But I don't think duct tape is an appropriate repair for a coolant hose leak as I attempted to point out on the previous page before the current situation manifested.
8/19/2026 7:45:57 PM
You are absolutely right it's not a proper fix. I used the duct tape as a stopgap measure so I could test if that was the issue, and it was. This is how the duct tape held up for 2/3 days of just a couple of test drives: And this is the new part nice and snug in its new home:
8/19/2026 8:26:29 PM
I think tape is fine as an initial boundary layer and sealer, but you need metal worm gear clamps to resist the expansion of a pressurized hose. I fixed a split main water supply line to the house this way until I could get a new line installed, and I could still use water normally all along. The clamps are dirt cheap and good to have on hand. Only needs a screwdriver.Glad you now have a permanent fix.
8/19/2026 8:39:21 PM
Easiest way to fix a leak
8/19/2026 9:10:14 PM
LOL how there's already a huge bulge on the tape before the camera cuts away.Phil Swift, you S.O.B.!!!

Closing went well, moved in to new house. Movers canceled day before the move, so I ended up having to move most of the items myself. Former landlord is refusing to hand over the original security deposit because she expected me to "get down on your hands and knees and scrub every last inch" of the rental. She send me pictures of her mutilated dead dog for some reason. I'm assuming is was some sort of unhinged threat. Found what appears to be mold coming out of every single one of the AC vents... here is an example I found that was behind furniture. The electricity was cut the morning I started the main move. Landlord did not turn it back on for at least 10 days after, and then inspected the property. I have given her warnings to never contact me or wife ever again. Loving the new house so far. There was a retaining wall that was in disrepair and one of the seller concessions was to demolish/grade the yard, which happened 2 weeks ago so I'm tending freshly seeded slopes right now.[Edited on October 23, 2026 at 11:12 AM. 10/26/2026 12:12:25 PM
why remove the wall
10/27/2026 9:09:55 PM
Mainly so your yard can wash into the street, I think. And you can get some really steep patchy grass to mow.]
10/27/2026 9:14:12 PM
It did look pretty poor shape though
10/27/2026 9:15:28 PM
A few years ago we watched a guy down the road from us build his own retaining wall, only to have it wash into the road weeks after he built it. Demolishing the retaining wall instead of asking $10k off the purchase price was probably a good move for you.
10/27/2026 9:32:32 PM
How long before MrGreen doxes you?

not a fair test, I recognize the place because I’ve spent time there

the retaining wall had been there since the 1950's and was in terrible shape. It was at risk of toppling over in places, and that was a liability I did not want, especially since there is a sidewalk. I had it professionally graded. (well, the seller paid for it and my realtor arranged the contractor.)
10/29/2026 11:22:59 AM
They looked to make a reasonable effort at slope stabilization.Good luck!

By professional I mean licensed/bonded/insured to do exactly this type of work, with decades of experience. But yeah you right

I look forward to yearly updates on the status of your grassy hump
10/29/2026 12:53:34 PM
Did you tie a string to the handle of your push mower so that you can lower it down and pull it back up longitudinally to mow your slope?
