Remember, if you're going to criticize DOGE, you must say something nice about Elon first and then justify the spending by submitting a full budget.

mRNA references are pretty tame compared to what else you need to scrub from a grant, now.

By Gavi’s own estimate, the loss of U.S. support may mean 75 million children do not receive routine vaccinations in the next five years, with more than 1.2 million children dying as a result."

Wife has been fired from USAID a fourth time -- one RIF, one termination because she was probationary, another termination because they fucked up the first one, and now a second RIF because the judge keeps expanding the TRO prohibiting the terminations. We already know they've fucked up this second RIF and will have to fire her a fifth time.

This is just fucking buffoonish at this point. As I saw someone say the other day - "Just because the clown car is moving fast, doesn't mean it's not full of fucking clowns."

I will probably know my status some time in May.

^Yes. Actually it's all happened since February 1. All at the hands of one DOGE bro and colossal asshole Pete Marocco. They keep having to redo it because of fuck-ups and court orders.

The thing is it would be incredibly easy to just do it correctly, but I guess they can't be fucking bothered.

Probably. But memories are short and this is all happening in the first three months. There's 19 months until the midterm election! Most of the incompetence and malice on display right now will seem like a distant memory by then to a large swath of voters, and another chunk won't care as long as it owns the libs.

That said, there's no real reason to believe they're going to put the brakes on the "incompetence and malice" train anytime between now and then. But some of the Republicans are starting to act as though they see the crash coming, though, which is why Stefanik got pulled from the UN and some others are expressing doubts about tariffs, etc. Even Elon seems to finally be realizing that running DOGE has not, in fact, made him wildly popular and that there may be trouble coming, which is why he's leaving in May.

The one thing that voters will remember is if Social Security gets fucked up and a check or two doesn't go out, or even just goes out late. If that happens, and DOGE doesn't immediately make the SSA legitimately way more efficient and user friendly than it already was, then they're fucked.

I think what they should do is ignore the huge parts of the budget that would actually make a meaningful difference and destroy all the parts of the government that help people or provide useful services for a populace.

I wonder how much NC will suffer from the Museums and Libraries deal. Specifically Raleigh. Tons of schools in the state come to Raleigh for our museums. They’re top notch, and it would be awful if we lose any funding for them.

Two members of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency have been given accounts on classified networks that hold highly guarded details about America's nuclear weapons, two independent sources tell NPR.

Luke Farritor, a 23-year-old former SpaceX intern and Adam Ramada, a Miami-based venture capitalist, have had accounts on the computer systems for at least two weeks, according to the sources who also have access to the networks. Prior to their work at DOGE, neither Farritor nor Ramada appear to have had experience with either nuclear weapons or handling classified information."

"A judge ruled Tuesday that a lawsuit alleging Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency are illegally wielding power over federal government operations can move forward.

U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan's 42-page order in the lawsuit, filed by several Democratic state attorneys general, denies a motion to dismiss the case, but Chutkan did grant a motion to dismiss President Trump as a defendant, finding "the court may not enjoin the President in the performance of his official duties."

The ruling highlights often-conflicting descriptions of the power that Musk and the DOGE entity have been given to implement Trump's agenda, and how efforts to downplay that power in court have been undermined by public statements and actions."

And from Alt National Park Service

Quote :
"The Trump administration told the Supreme Court that Elon Musk and the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) were just “advisors” to the president, not part of the federal government. That lie was enough to pause Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests about DOGE’s activities. But now a federal judge has found the truth may be very different and a new case is moving forward.
A group of 14 states, led by New Mexico, sued Musk, DOGE, and Trump for violating the Constitution. Their claim? Musk isn’t a Senate-confirmed official and DOGE was never authorized by Congress, meaning neither had the legal authority to gut federal agencies or access sensitive government data.
Trump’s legal team tried to dismiss the lawsuit by painting Musk’s role as temporary and purely advisory. But Judge Tanya Chutkan wasn’t buying it. She ruled that:
- Musk appears to “exercise significant authority” across the executive branch,
- DOGE has accessed “private and proprietary information” without authorization, and
- The states presented enough evidence of real harm to proceed with the case.
Here’s the kicker: all you have to do is visit DOGE’s own website. They claimed to be a government agency not an advisory panel. That’s a major legal difference. Advisory panels can make recommendations. Agencies can make decisions, spend money, and access private data. If DOGE was acting as an agency without Congressional approval, that’s a constitutional crisis.
And now, after already misleading the Supreme Court, the Trump administration is staring down a case that may head back to that very court this time with evidence that Musk and DOGE were never just “advisors” after all. The statements the Trump administration already made will now work against them. The Supreme Court only blocked the FOIA request temporarily
This isn’t just a legal technicality. It’s about unchecked power, data misuse, and a shadow “agency” led by a billionaire megadonor with no democratic accountability."
