From my personal experience, a lot are just uniformed and somewhat proudly ignorant. They get their news (propaganda) from right-wing sources which distorts and ignores reality, so they're not even seeing some of the crazy stuff that's happening, and if you tell them, they outright don't believe you (because mainstream media is just mean and they lie about things he says and does).
