Playing the national anthem at sporting events (I can make an exception for the Olympics) is pointless and dumb imo

This has confirmed my original post ittThe dumbest shit I’ve heard and read in my life has been in English. Therefore I dislike it the most.
7/6/2020 2:40:21 PM
Nope. I grew up poor and thanks to this nation and capitalism being the second in my ancestors (my older brother being the first) to graduate college made a life for myself. So no. I am none of your assumptions.

And also thanks to being white (I can tell you're white by your idiotic posts itt)

You can be patriotic and grateful of the opportunities in the US while also being very critical of the country’s shortcomings, sins, and failures[Edited on July 6, 2020 at 2:58 PM. Reason : I’m honestly not even sure what’s being argued anymore ]
7/6/2020 2:57:28 PM
what's y'all's favorite verse of the anthem? i like the 3rd verse for sure, can't believe they don't play that verse before ball games
7/6/2020 3:47:54 PM
Qs at a super bowl party popping a vein as nobody stands for the anthem
7/6/2020 3:48:54 PM
Hey guys, EMCE here. Just checking in to make sure everyone knows that the national anthem and patriotism have absolutely nothing to do with football.
7/6/2020 3:57:01 PM
You just hurt America's feelings
7/6/2020 4:00:53 PM
By the arguments maybe the best resolution would be to not play the anthem at football games at all. It would make me sad but I’m tired of the conflict
7/6/2020 4:04:48 PM
You can listen to the anthem as much as you want on your own time. I'm sure you probably listen to it 6 or 8 times per day already, unless you're not a true patriot.
7/6/2020 4:23:33 PM
What’s the argument for playing the anthem before football games? What does it accomplish and would we actually lose anything by no longer playing it?I already know my opinion, I’m just interested in hearing what the argument for it is...aside from “its tradition”. Because sure, it can be tradition, but it’s an odd one imo

I have heard nothing but false attacks albeit a few . EMCE actually approached like a gentleman. We have our opinions. But to defend the terrible behavior of many people is unimaginable to people who think we should come to a peaceful agreement and not a destructive society.

Hey quiksilver what is a false attack?

A troll post that you have mastered. You just started and I was at your kitchen table with a pot of coffee and a pack of Newport’s after doing push-ups in your driveway.
7/7/2020 8:36:12 AM
Lol WTF does that even mean?]

Is this guy JCE reincarnate?

Back to the topic. For different varieties of Chinese, Mandarin is pretty much alien language, while Cantonese is fine b/c it’s mixed with some western words, kinda like Japanese.
7/8/2020 4:43:25 PM
I’ve heard mandarin is one of the most if not at top of list hard to learn. Know a Mormon girl that had to learn it for her mission and I was impressed.
7/8/2020 4:45:37 PM
I know a guy who has married a Chinese lady for many years but can only use Pinyin(pronunciations) to communicate with his wife. He is a senior engineer. Learning the characters is hard because you have to understand the culture behind it. Or understanding the culture helps a lot. Even learning Hindi or Arabic is easier. Concurring Mandarin is probably like concurring Himalayas.

Probably easier for her to learn his language. Had a friend from Korea that works for Doctors Without Borders that travels all over that region (Nepal etc). I don’t know how he did it. Travels to little villages and has to pick up the languages/dialects.Updating post: just learned from another friend he died. Picked up something while treating others. He was a gamer friend so I didn’t have tight connection when he went abroad. Just when he could get signal. Saddening. Don’t know why I’m posting this other than to say be appreciative of what you have and those around you. [Edited on July 8, 2020 at 5:30 PM. Reason : . ]

Pinyin is the key. It’s like the Silk Road connecting Chinese with English. First master pinyin to be able to pronounce correctly, then get into the complicated characters. I was once Chinese teacher of a lady living in Cary. She posted a bulletin outside international student office in Daniel Hall looking for someone teaching her some Chinese because she was gonna travel there during the Olympic Games. Watching her learning it was tough. It’s like craving chicken bones.

French is the worst language. It somehow manages to take the few bad points of Spanish (randomly gendered nouns) and mix them with the worst parts of English (pronunciation that makes no sense) and then adds in some insanity of its own, like not having numbers that go past 69. All of this done with two principle vowel sounds, "uhn" and "ay."This, they proceed to hurl at you with an air of contempt and superiority as though they were important. They aren't, except as a shaky crutch for Germany to hold up the EU.Meanwhile, they have inflicted this nonsense on countries around Africa and the Caribbean, almost invariably the least-developed countries in these regions, because the French are atrocious colonial masters in addition to being linguistic morons. Also, the entire language is governed by some kind of imperalist cosplay club, the Academie Francaise, which dresses in this uniform:

That's a strong argument.

why is nancy reagan dressed like a matador?

Ha on French. I am 1/4 French and never cared to learn the language. Took Spanish instead. All relatives on my moms side have French names 2 Madelines, Renee, Odette, etc. but I never liked the language. My great grandfather was a French chef who was the head at Waldorf Astoria New York when he got off the boat immigrating over. I take pride in my heritage but don’t care for the sound of the language.French and Irish heritages i guess I’ll always be conflicted.[Edited on July 11, 2020 at 4:59 AM. Reason : .]

<--Born in France but left really young. When I'm around my French-speaking cousins, I think it sounds cool as hell. Most of the SE Asian languages are really nasal and annoy me (Thai, Lao, Vietnamese, etc). It's like they're pinching their nose shut while speaking. Hindi can be pretty nasally, but it seems to depend on the person.
7/11/2020 9:36:05 PM
There are several things I choose to dislike. I really don’t give a fuck what language you speak, I just try to speak the truth

Russian is fucking hard, yo
3/8/2023 3:21:07 PM
We have a coworker who speaks english but has the thickest Russian accent it borders on funny. It's like all of the Eastern European villains in movies all rolled up into one.
3/8/2023 4:26:35 PM
I too have a Russian coworker. He started 2 months after invasion of Ukraine. At first we all thought he was Ukranian, upon speaking he seemed more Russian. I honestly think he is sympathetic to Russians. When Gorbachev died I said something how won Nobel peace prize etc. He said it is all bullshit, whenever US is happy means bad for Russia, and from like 90-99, Russia was awful. He left in like 92. He said in Soviet Russia, he was at one point stationed in super upper latitudes, and was cold as a motherfuck.
