I didn't watch the end, but apparently they benched Jalen Hurts in the 4th quarter, and the new QB immediately had a couple turnovers. Then rather than go for a game tying FG late in the 4th, they went for it and didn't get it. Would make sense to give them a better draft pick, and potentially screw over their main division rivals at the same time.

Hurts was 7/20 with a INT. I didn’t watch it, but that benching seems totally justified. And not going for the tying FG...maybe they wanted to try to win instead of go to OT? I’m just kinda playing devils advocate, I don’t actually care if they did lose on purpose. But a 4 win team playing shitty and then maybe playing to win instead of go to OT in the final game of the year doesn’t really scream “they threw the game” to me. But again, I didn’t watch it. Like you said, sounds like sour grapes from a shitty NYG team that maybe should’ve won more than 6 games.

It was the 3rd quarter when the eagles decided to go for it instead of kicking the FG to tie. Not late in the 4th. May have been the right call because if they get the TD there, maybe they win 21-20. If they kick the FG they lose 20-17. I know there are a lot of variables there that change if they kick instead of go for it but still. And we beat Philly for 3 quarters with Hurts in the game. People act like they were winning and then benched Hurts.
1/4/2021 10:48:19 AM
^^ he wasn’t having a good game but wasn’t playing bad enough to be benched, especially considering who they benched him for
1/4/2021 10:53:20 AM
The last half of the Eagles-WFT game last night was an abomination to the game of football. Forget Tulsa-Mississippi State, last night's game was worse. Both teams just threw pick after pick and had turnover after turnover, sloppy playing, neither could get a drive together
1/4/2021 11:12:51 AM
^^ and ^^^ thanks for the clarification.
1/4/2021 12:29:28 PM
I'm pretty sure it was the 4th quarter when they went for it on 4th down instead of kicking a the tying FG. Hurts was still in the game. Sudfeld came in on the next drive. It was obvious that the eagles had no intention of winning at that point. But o don't care that they did it. There's honestly no reason to risk injury to your potential franchise qb in a meaningless game. This is no different than playoff teams resting players. At all. It was in the best interest of the eagles to lose. They get a better draft pick while at the same time prevent a division rival (WFT) with no long term QB from getting a high draft pick in order to draft a QB in a draft which will probably have ~5 first round QBs
1/4/2021 3:42:46 PM
Yeah that’s fair imo. I’ve got no problem with it
1/4/2021 3:47:20 PM
^^It was at 2:01 in the 3rd.
1/4/2021 5:16:32 PM
Ah ok. Either way it was painfully obvious they were not trying to win, even before they pulled hurts.
1/4/2021 6:01:25 PM
the Skycam or whatever in this Saints Bears game has gotten some pretty sweet angles
1/10/2021 7:35:36 PM

Buccaneers is like Heat of NBA last season. With Tom Brady they can do anything. Could win the Super Bowl Championship.
1/11/2021 11:32:12 AM
Tom Brady = Jimmy Butler ??
1/11/2021 12:40:48 PM
Much bigger figure than Butler, pretty much like Lebron.
1/11/2021 12:56:04 PM
Loved watching the Steelers get burnt
1/11/2021 8:08:32 PM
Chiefs deserved the win for being aggressive Browns deserved to lose for not being aggressive
1/17/2021 6:10:27 PM
I hope Terry Bradshaw's prediction of Saints by 17 comes to fruition
1/17/2021 6:44:11 PM
For Panthers fans, I think this game comes down to does your hatred of NFC South rival, Saints, outweigh your hatred of Super Bowl XXXVIII MVP/6X champion/likely cheater, Tom Brady?
1/17/2021 8:01:11 PM
yeah, basically I dislike Brady more than I dislike Brees. I won't lose any sleep either way.
1/17/2021 8:15:29 PM
Bucs > Saints but Brees > Brady for meWhich means I don’t really have a strong rooting interest at all.
1/17/2021 8:32:32 PM
don’t remember Tampa fans ever cheering after Cam got hurt, so go Bucs
1/17/2021 8:57:44 PM
lol, Brees playing like shit in the last game of his career

Advocare is worse than the TB12 system, so the lesser of two evils won.

NFL really needs to change the stupid fumble into the end zone = touchback rule. Makes absolutely no sense.
1/18/2021 9:57:30 AM
in theory, i'm ok with the idea of encouraging ball security near the goalline and discouraging recklessness with the ball at the goalline. that said, i do think the rule is too punitive
1/18/2021 10:49:42 AM
I think the rule's fine as is, especially given who rarely this is a problem.. Encourages ball security. The last thing the defense needs is another rule change that makes their lives harder. Fumbles also are placed at the location where the team fumbled it but giving possession back to whoever controls the ball. Obviously it'd be unfair to give the offense a TD for fumbling in the end zone, so the ruling is 'dead ball in the end zone with no current possession' -- the only similar situation is after kickoffs (since punts are a change of downs and would result in a turnover either way). And what does a dead ball in the end zone on a kickoff result in? A touchback.I guess theoretically you could put it on the goal line but that just encourages offensive players to try crazy dumb things with more frequency and hope they work.[Edited on January 19, 2021 at 12:54 PM. 1/19/2021 12:54:22 PM
Yeah I could be convinced to give it back to the offense but spot it back at the 5 or 10 (or 20, maybe) instead of at the 1 inch line.
1/19/2021 1:15:28 PM
Why not just treat it like you do literally everywhere else on the field and give it to the offense where the ball was fumbled. The offense is being punished for being in a better position on the field. If I run the ball out of my own end zone to the 1 yard line and fumble the ball 98 yards forward and it goes out at the other 1 yard line, the ball is placed back where I fumbled it and we maintain possession. But if I'm diving to the pylon and the ball comes loose an inch before breaking the plane and rolls an inch behind the pylon, it's a turnover. The defense never even touches the ball and gets rewarded possession. ridiculous.edit: ^ I'd be fine with that. That would be 1000 times better than the current rule.[Edited on January 19, 2021 at 1:24 PM. Reason : ^]
1/19/2021 1:22:20 PM
I think that a fumble out of the endzone should be given back to the fumbling team at the 20 yard line and whatever down it would be after the fumble. So a fumble on 1st and goal would give you 2nd and goal from the 20, or a fumble on 4th down would give the defense the ball at the 20. Fumble it on deep pass play? 1st and goal from the 20.]
1/19/2021 1:26:57 PM
I'd be fine with that. Anything is better than turnover.I'd even be okay if they changed it to where if you fumble out of the back of the end zone, it is a turnover but if it goes out on the side, offense maintains possession. You could argue the defense would have had a much better chance at recovery if that was in the middle of the field. [Edited on January 19, 2021 at 1:32 PM. Reason : .]
