TLDR:Fauci was warned as early as 1-4-2020 that Covid 19 was engineered in a Chinese labHe always denied those claims and said that C-19 jumped from bats to humansHe sent emails to colleagues in April 2020 that suggested the virus was engineered [despite these emails, he still stated publicly that the virus was transmitted naturally]Fauci got a personal 'thank you' for backing the “natural origin” theory from the head of a nonprofit that used a $3.4 million government grant to fund research at the Chinese lab suspected of creating the virus, emails showLots of the emails are blacked out, so a lot of his opinions can't be exactly stated, fwiw

Are any legitimate news outlets reporting anything that truly damages credibility here, because I'm not seeing it.Personally, I'd love the lab leak to eventually prove to be correct so that maybe China could finally be held accountable by the world for their recklessness. "Owning Fauci" is not part of my motivation. In working with Chinese colleagues, I'm sure he had to be diplomatic at times. Chinese scientists are not immune to state retribution. Just like that doctor who tried to warn people and got in trouble with the authorities and then eventually died.I don't get why Fauci is some sort of boogeyman to certain conservatives. And I'm sure he'd only need to be wrong once to permanently lose all credibility. At worst, he gave his opinion based on the evidence available to him at the time. Being willing to change your mind when presented with compelling countervailing evidence is not a sign of weakness, but of intelligence. It's hard to argue with people who don't think this way. If there's really something nefarious in his actions, let's see it.]

I can't believe he parroted not to hoard masks when it started.I can't believe he parroted the latest opinions of medical professional community.I can't believe he endorsed safe and effective vaccines.

The people that want him to be wrong already think he's been "wrong" repeatedly, so it's just more fuel for the fire.

When people were hoarding at the beginning he said you didnt need a mask

I don't trust this guy. Back when the virus was brand new, he didn't yet know everything about it. That reeks of fraudulence.

Yeah, he kept making new recommendations, based on "the science". I mean, isn't he supposed to be a "doctor"?
8/11/2021 12:17:59 PM
Fauci is just a Dr acting in good faith trying to roll with evolving knowledge of a new virus and balance that persuasion tactics and challenging greater good calculations. He's neither demi God nor villain, but he seems like a very kind level headed person trying his best to do right. What more can you ask?

Here's The Intercept's article regarding the two coronavirus research grants that have opponents of Anthony Fauci so outraged:https://theintercept.com/2021/09/06/new-details-emerge-about-coronavirus-research-at-chinese-lab/The article links to both the 528-page "Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence" grant and the 386-page "Understanding Risk of Zoonotic Virus Emergence in EID Hotspots of Southeast Asia" grant.Without having thoroughly read the grants, it seems like the various explosive quotes that I've read about the story come not from the grants themselves but from the interviewees who had been asked to interpret the grants for the article. The Intercept interviewed three individuals: Gary Ruskin, executive director of U.S. Right To Know; Alina Chan, a molecular biologist at the Broad Institute; and Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist at Rutgers University. The interviewees seem credible enough; however, I wonder whether they may be chasing the lab leak theory to an extent that could call into question their objectivity.Richard Ebright posted this Twitter thread (https://twitter.com/R_H_Ebright/status/1435053505169944579), in which he concludes:

Honestly I don't associate Fauci with the lab leak theory. Even if he was instrumental in getting Coronovirus research implemented there, it's not like he was in the lab when a leak happened.Gain of function research should be done. Any blunder here was trusting it to the Chinese for implementation.

So what's the opinion on Fauci now? Is he still fully credible? Seems not. Is he a bad guy? Don't know, haven't kept up.I know this is going to be full of conspiracy theories obviously, but I also need to make time to watch this to find out how many and which truths it contains:https://freedomplatform.tv/the-real-anthony-fauci-the-movie

"I need to make time to feed myself conspiracy theories."Interesting tactic. Kind of like how Superman needs to find time to expose himself to kryptonite. Are there any specific points you'd like to raise?]

Not sure about Fauci's credibility, but someone needs to go down for the whole "get vaccinated and stop the spread" propaganda after Pfizer admitted they didn't know if it would stop the spread or not.Because people lost jobs over not getting vaccinated on the basis that them not getting the vaccine would further the spread of COVID.Also, someone needs to take ownership of the millions of children who are now years behind on academics because of school shutdowns.[Edited on October 26, 2022 at 8:46 AM. Reason : eweh;]

A lot of that time is a blur now, so maybe I'm misremembering, but I don't recall ever hearing that the vaccine would completely prevent covid and stop the spread. Almost from the beginning, I thought I remember hearing that it would lessen the likelihood of catching it, lessen the severity, and may make it less transmittable.... I've never been under the impression that the flu-shot would completely prevent someone from catching and spreading the flu.

I don't know what kind and how many lb's of flesh we need. Some teachers wanted to teach remotely, some teachers wanted to be in the classroom. It was a perfect solution to let those who had at-risk family members to opt in to remote schooling, and those who didn't want it could go with the teachers that wanted in-class instruction. We knew that children, especially those most affected by the lack of education in 2020, were damn near immune to COVID, and we had a pretty good idea that they weren't very good carriers of it.And for the record, I was never anti-mask or anti-vaccine. But I knew that school closures were going to be disastrous. At this point, I feel like everybody who is in the current grade just needs to stop and start with the previous grade's material. it’s almost as if there were some tough, non-perfect decisions that were made in the middle of a once in a century global pandemic wanting repercussions for those non-perfect decisions is absurd

10/26/2022 12:09:36 PM
Yes, I also wasn't aware that we "knew" that kids were "damn near immune" and "weren't very good carriers of it".I have seen (mostly biased right-wing) people and media that keep repeating "there's not data to support that it spread among kids at school"... but I have to imagine there's not much data because schools would have to have been wide-open to get that data. But schools were shut-down, so no data was collected. I don't know for certain, but I think you've been getting some biased info.
10/26/2022 12:36:35 PM
teachers quitting over fear of catching and spreading covid combined with right wing lunatics threatening them over all kinds of insane things probably contributes to the education-gap, toojust a hunch[Edited on October 26, 2022 at 1:05 PM. Reason : .]
10/26/2022 12:40:15 PM
Kids definitely get it/spread it to adults (and to each other). The people saying otherwise were denying/downplaying COVID for political reasons.BTW masks work too, but only if everyone wears the right kind--consistently-- and practices social distancing and good hygiene. There's a lot that we didn't know and a lot that still don't know, but the revisionist history is lame AF and it will just make the next pandemic worse since people have bad memories and are lazy and selfish.
10/26/2022 12:44:14 PM
Fauci has no power to order school closures. Why would he be the bad guy for that?
10/26/2022 7:30:28 PM
Because Rand Paul said so! Rand 3:16!
