i think east village location was bought for new construction, but perhaps they moved as well?
4/2/2020 2:14:50 AM
Thought they were gonna open in the bottom of the new construction
4/2/2020 6:23:26 AM
^I'm fairly sure that's what is happening. It's just closed until the new construction is done. I'm going to miss seeing the wall that multiple cars drove through though.
4/2/2020 7:45:40 AM
Hope they're gonna have a deck somehow

Even though they're not on there (and to piggyback on earlier discussion, it was totally a restaurant with a bar,) I've got Hard Times Café winning it all.

except for the alley, those bars suck!(shoulda been Sadlack's, Crowley's, The Brewery (I guess), and Jackpot (imo, of course)
4/3/2020 2:16:59 PM
What was Red's? Seems familiar, but i cant place it.
4/3/2020 2:26:34 PM
Red's beach club. It was the shag bar
4/3/2020 2:28:23 PM
^^On Capital, just past Faircloth coming out of downtown. I think it' Capital VIP Nightclub now, although that may be closed too.
4/3/2020 2:35:41 PM
oh shit! with the checkerboard ramp! where all the crime happened![Edited on April 3, 2020 at 2:57 PM. Reason : never stepped foot in there. seemed too sketchy]
4/3/2020 2:56:54 PM
Yeah. I was driving by one night not that long ago and the place was surrounded with cop cars with their lights on.
4/3/2020 3:03:07 PM
I just counted to make sure, but i been in 23 out of 32.places i never went, or dont remember going:-The keg (hillsborough?)-Felsons (never even heard of it)-Crowleys (avoided it because everyone said underage frat guys went there)-Fosters (drawing a blank)-The Wolves Den (unless this is the place i got chicken tendies in college)-Spikes (never heard of it)-Back bar (where was this)-Red room (was this glenwood south where high 5 was?)-Reds (crime)
4/3/2020 3:35:29 PM
I can't believe (rhetorically... i actually know it's the truth) that these are all CLOSED bars. This was the list of places to go when I was at State.
4/3/2020 3:48:12 PM
Foster's was the frat/yuppie bar in Cameron Village.I liked Crowley's because I lived within walking distance (it was in a neighborhood), it was kinda dark and seedy, and the food wasn't bad (most of the time).[Edited on April 3, 2020 at 3:56 PM. Reason : ]
4/3/2020 3:50:55 PM
my buddy was a bouncer at crowleys. also a couple girls i met (through him) were bartenders/servers (he married one) there. I only went there a handful of times but it seemed pretty relaxed the times i went there.
4/3/2020 3:54:59 PM
The Keg, iirc, was on Hillsborough by the '5 oclock bar, and a bunch of other bullshit that popped up in and around that spot where brothers was. Felsons, is actually the nickname for Nelson's at Cameron Village. That bar opened up right where Foster's was. Crowley's was off dixie trail and the dive of the Felson's crowd. Redroom was right on Glenwood, with Bogarts in between it and High 5. No clue about spikes, reds, or back bar. I never found my way to Keg, Red's, Cuevo de lobos, back bar or spikes. And anyone who voted Oxford over East Village has some serious issues. But if this thread highlights anything else it is that far more bars have closed than have remained opened since that time period. Far more.[Edited on April 3, 2020 at 4:03 PM. Reason : .]

I'm just saying when a good group of us dorm folks went to the Wolves Den we could get a pizza and pay for it with our "bucks" (student meal plan)and we pretended it was a sports bar without beer.
4/3/2020 5:24:37 PM
why would you get pizza when you could get mozzarella sticks coated in pretzel crumbs[Edited on April 3, 2020 at 5:25 PM. Reason : i think i do remember having their pizza as well, but usually spicy chicken sandwiches]
4/3/2020 5:25:35 PM
I too wondered why wolves den was on the list of bars
4/3/2020 7:55:02 PM
i'd usually get the chicken sandwiches and fries, but if there was a group of us we would take turns buying the pizza. honestly i preferred the dining hall over by the X shaped building, but i was in Wood Hall and the Wolves Den was the closest thing to walk to!
4/3/2020 8:15:27 PM
You couldn't order beer there though, right?

Rum Runners was the piano bar, correct?I have never even heard of The Oxford.

4/4/2020 12:59:45 PM
man that final is garbage
4/4/2020 1:06:12 PM
^also very true.
4/4/2020 1:08:24 PM
B4C must be poll-skewing for Rum Runners
4/4/2020 2:02:53 PM
That's like the Kentucky/UConn final from a few years back
4/4/2020 4:41:54 PM
I've been to 27-28 of these bars. Some extremely frequently. Probably why I'm a borderline alcoholic. The Alley killed some really great spots. In all honestly I remember PBs most fondly. Cheap as hell shots and an almost nihilistic crowd that just wanted to get fucked up. Red Room wasn't bad. There was always a more diverse, educated crowd. I wish I had spent more time at JackPot but I couldn't breath in there, being asthmatic and whatnot.Rum Runners, however, was trash. Good riddance. Friends in Low Places screamed by rednecks in polos. NO THANK YOU. Oxford really had nothing original.1. PBs2. East Village3. Fosters Honorable Mention: Jackpot - I saw my TA fucked up out of his mind in there
4/4/2020 6:17:56 PM
^so do you know if there was a Wolves Den bar (not the on campus place that was definitely not a bar)?
4/4/2020 6:41:23 PM
No, like most I only got chicken tenders on campus. I don't remember Spikes. White Collar Crime was aight. You missed Ess Lounge. It now serves chocolates.Hell on Earth Bars:1. City Limits2. Rum Runners3. Buckhead[Edited on April 4, 2020 at 7:12 PM. Reason : .][Edited on April 4, 2020 at 7:16 PM. Reason : .]
4/4/2020 7:08:48 PM
damn. had completely forgotten the name of Ess Lounge. whole lotta turds hung there.Rum Runners is the only bar I’ve ever gotten kicked out of. was taken there the Monday after I turned 21 for $1 shots night. [Edited on April 4, 2020 at 7:22 PM. Reason : it involved Mike Commodore. ]
4/4/2020 7:20:24 PM
if only Jkumar923 could answer our Wolves Den question(s)
4/4/2020 7:47:08 PM
I loved Rum Runners! Has anyone been to the new dueling piano bar? Is that the same people? Rum Runners closed and claimed they were looking for a bigger place because their lease was up.
4/5/2020 1:02:47 AM
I quit this as soon as RR won the first round. Ya done got trolled. Also, Farmhouse was da real MVP
4/7/2020 7:24:05 AM
^3 or post the winner. And, yes, farmhouse should have gotten way more play. Great memories. Great times that should be memories but or super fuzzy instead.
4/7/2020 12:20:17 PM
^ I remember small, shitty pizzas and stale beer in probably a 6 oz. cup.
4/7/2020 12:32:26 PM
^ I remember paying $5 for a wristband and drinking unlimited busch light and telling them we wanted a shut up and eat it pizza (akin to shut up and eat it at sadlacks). they made us a BLT pizza and it was huge.
4/7/2020 1:16:45 PM
Mostly drank there and rarely ate, but I had a great experience any time I did eat. The first time I had that buffalo chicken sandwich my brain exploded. The Michelle's Munchies literally brought me back from the verge of blackout on my 25th to feeling full on sober. Definitely partook in the $5 all you can drink. The $0.50 PBRs. The almost any other beer for $3 or $4. My only beef with that place was that the bathrooms were never really cleaned and would have flies and the urine would reek of ammonia, especially in the summer.
4/7/2020 2:32:55 PM
Most of my Farmhouse memories were good, but wasn't there a controversy about the confederate flag at their place at one point?
4/7/2020 11:05:24 PM
the bar and fraternity were not associated in any way. the fraternity was a bunch of rednecks and the bar was named after the Phish song.
4/8/2020 7:21:27 AM
Had i known the name was a phish reference i wouldve never stepped foot in that place
4/8/2020 10:43:32 AM
I used to love Farmhouse. i heard a bluegrassy band there one time and really liked them. I can't remember their name right now though ugh!something habits maybe?but they also had these "trash plates" that were such good hangover food.
4/8/2020 1:54:01 PM
^Old HabitsI used to love getting trashed and watching them.I liked Farmhouse but during my prime years when I should have been going there all the time it seemed like they always had a cover. That was a period of time where my broke ass would rather die than pay a cover (unless it was a band I really wanted to see like Old Habits, or was some deal like PB's thirsty thursdays)
