please don’t continue to work if positive and you work around other people

Maybe he works from home or in an isolated role. Or maybe he is trolling you and the other people in this thread.

^ get testedIt's actually really depressing how many people I know who have tested positive at this point. Only one or two boosted people, but the rest either didn't get the booster, or get a second dose, which blows my mind since they've been gathering and socializing for the past 3 weeks.
12/29/2021 11:44:39 AM
I've gotten 3 shots. I think I'm gonna get tested tomorrow or the next day if I feel worse. I'm also going back to avoiding people.

I have a question for a majority of you.Why are you so scared if you test positive? Especially those that are Triple Vaxxed? Were you ever this scared when you got the Flu when you were younger? I am just really curious because I get the feeling that there is an overwhelming sense of fear in this thread. The data just doesn't bear out the fear especially if you are vaxxed. And before you ask, yes I am vaccinated as are most of the people I interact with regularly.

Passing it to others (pregnant wife, immunocompromised dad, non vaxxed coworker, children in my family that aren’t vaxxed) is more my fear. Plus the complications of testing positive - needing to quarantine would be less than ideal. I’m not deathly afraid of it. It would be a pretty major inconvenience in my life at a minimum. And a more dire scenario would be me passing it to somebody far less healthy than myself.

In my case, it's mainly because I don't want to accidentally kill my parents who both have preexisting respiratory weaknesses and don't need a case of pneumonia at their age and condition regardless of root cause. Also, "long COVID" seems like it sucks, even though that appears to mostly affect women.
12/30/2021 7:56:16 AM
^^so your wife and Dad aren't vaxxed? As for your Co-Worker he made his/her choice. Children really aren't at high risk and every person's kids I know that have tested positive have been asymptomatic. So really its all about quarantining for you which I can understand since that comes down to providing for your family. ^Do you live with your parents? Are they vaxxed and boosted? Long COVID would suck but is their data that you can get that while Vaxxed. I haven't seen much on Long COVID since last year so not aware of how common it still is. Thanks for explaining your rationale.

Dad is vaxxed but immunocompromised (my understanding is that the vax may be less effective for him than it is for me). Him getting covid could be bad. We work together. Wife is vaxxed. But if she or I are positive, that’s gonna really fuck with doctor appointments. Especially would be bad if she (or I) were positive while she’s actually in labor and in the hospital. Would it kill her or the baby? Almost definitely not. Would it be a major pain in the ass? Definitely. Like I said, im not deathly afraid of getting it. It would be a real inconvenience. I don’t live in constant fear. I try to limit my “risky” behavior. But to be honest, that’s not super difficult for me and my wife. Outside of work we are mostly home bodies, we don’t go out to concerts or ball games or big parties all that often (regardless of covid). I’m vaxxed, most of those around me around are vaxxed. I mask up when I go out to the grocery store or places like that. For me it’s not a constant, crippling fear. If I was single and circumstances a little different then I’d be willing to take more risks. Everybody’s risk tolerance is different. And everybody’s circumstances are different. I don’t judge anybody for going out to football or basketball game, for example. But it’s not something I feel particularly comfortable doing.

I've got high blood pressure.

^^Valid reasons

I don't live with my parents full-time, but I do visit a lot (especially during holidays), and want the flexibility to stop in as needed without isolating for some period of time beforehand, whether that be for the frequent tech support requirements or something else. They are both vaccinated and boosted (3X Moderna). Regardless, they don't need pneumonia.I'm an introvert and I don't particularly care about going back to the way things used to be. I would be happy to permanently do away with shaking hands and other stupid social customs. I don't enjoy crowded places, so I don't feel any great loss if I can't go to concerts, bars, and sporting events. The pandemic and the whole series of events reacting to it have further confirmed that I cannot possibly trust my fellow man to act in society's best interest in any future scenario.

So here is my story..we (me, wife, 2 year old son) managed to avoid the covid..wife and I are both double moderna'd. We drove to WI on the 13th to visit wifes family (all vaxxed too) and managed to get back to NC covid free( while there my wife got her booster..I havent yet). Son went back to daycare, life back to normal. Then on christmas eve we get an email from our sons school letting us know that one of his teachers has tested positive but is asymptomatic (she tested before visiting family just in case). She is also vaxxed and they wear masks at school. Two days later we notice our son has a little cough. I had some at home tests so we tested him and sure enough, he was positive. Wife and I tested negative. So that was on Sunday..Since then my son has coughed maybe 10 times..that was the full extent of his sickness.. fortunately. Tested him yesterday with another at home test and he still showed positive..although he has been pretty much asymptomatic through the whole week. Wife and I tested negative..today. Should we be concerned that he is still possibly contagious? He started showing symptoms on friday of last week and positive test was sunday. Its been almost a week since then..what do you people think?[Edited on January 1, 2022 at 11:30 AM. Reason : ..]

My understanding is the at-home antigen tests are basically tests for contagiousness.

long covid only affects people who think fibromyalgia is real
1/1/2022 11:00:23 PM
^^^ you obviously can't isolate your son from you and the wife. If after 10 days of being exposed to him, you don't test positive, then you are most likely not going to get it. End quarantine after 10 days and resume normal life... whatever that is for you.[Edited on January 1, 2022 at 11:01 PM. Reason : wtf, MrGreen random]

^^Yeah, well I said it mostly affects women, so. . .

2 coworkers have it, one if not both vaccinated. Gonna do 4th at home test since dec like 18th tonight. Our company doesn’t pay for workers to quarantine. Not sure if they never have or stopped

it feels like everyone has covid right nowthat shit's everywhereif you went to a new years party with friends, you basically attended all of their family holiday celebrations indirectly and might as well have sucked off all of their antivax uncles

Finally popped for the first time today. Feel absolutely nothing, not even the slightest bit sick. Have had 3 Moderna jabs though, so maybe they're working.
