Just a heads up, if you wanna play Steam games on a Quest you will need either a link cable or virtual desktop.

Anybody here played around with VorpX with any Oculus platform? I'm curious to check it out; it's only $40 and has a pretty impressive supported games list ( https://www.vorpx.com/supported-games/ ), I'm just wondering how much of a pain in the ass it is to tweak things so they run smoothly (and how well the games run overall).

Target came in stock and decided wanted. Not sure when i will be delivered. Hope porn is awesome. Some guy on nyt said a fitness game thats like $20 a month was fun and gave awesome work out.

Any must have games? Got 64gb version because many people said the games are relatively small and could delete unplayed games and reinstall later etc

^ If you are looking for a workout, Beat Saber is awesome. You can download a mod package so you can install custom songs. There are thousands. I played it a lot over the summer. Once you get to the point that you can handle expert levels, you can easily burn 4-500 calories in an hour. Put some wrist weights on and you'll burn even more.

Half Life: Alyx is prob the number one must have game. I'm a big fan of Superhot VR and Lone Echo too. Lone Echo is Oculus exclusive though.

I briefly mentioned this in the last page but Star Wars Squadrons is INCREDIBLE in VR if you have an accompanying joystick/throttle. If you get a full squad on voice chat the amount of immersion/teamwork is some of the best I have ever seen in a video game. Not much movement since you are still playing while sitting down, but this game is exactly what you would hope for with a Star Wars based space flight sim. Anyone else playing this that would be interested in flying together sometime?

I am awesome in like 80% speed lol

^it's pretty involved and Youtube will be your best bet for instructions. Hopefully, you're pretty comfortable with tinkering around. My only advice is to be patient with button clicks in BMBF; they take a moment to register at times.

I cancelled my HP Reverb G2 because of all the bad press and it seems like you have to jump through some hoops playing certain things. Sometimes, you seemingly have to load 3-4 programs in order, shit just doesn't work with WMR because Oculus is #1, etc.

I grabbed a Quest 2, a halo strap, some controller straps, and never looked back. I thought being untethered was going to be no big deal, but it was a game changer! I made the right decision.

Is the default headstrap on the Quest 2 no good? And how necessary are the controller straps?

I haven’t used straps on controller yet. Saber beat only needs slashing motion not much button pushing. I will say head strap is annoying. Maybe 30-45 minutes and my eyes or head feel shitty. I got it pretty loose now too. Eyes cause it makes them more open than normal, head cause its just like fatiguing my head, like some bluetooth devices do to the ear

^^^^The oem strap kind of smashes your face into the headset. The top strap doesn't control the "pitch" of the headset, so you make up for it by tightening the sides. It's not bad for sit-down games; I played 2 hrs of racing sim easily when I first got it. With the halo strap, most of the weight is transferred to your head, and the headset sits lightly on your cheeks. I'd definitely try to live with the oem strap first, especially if you don't have to share with friends/family players to where you're constantly adjusting it.

The controller straps are really useful for me, especially in Beat Saber. It's got that secure feeling giving you a bit of extra confidence you're not going to fling the controllers. I use both the oem and the grip strap at the same time. Imagine taping your hands to the Touch controllers and you'll get the idea lol.

I always sucked at guitar hero and i can’t see ever being good at beat saber. Although no fail setting makes it way much more fun

Do they have demos for anything? I don’t see where if they do

Saw something that said if you play a game less than 2 hours you can get refund if you don’t like it. Also saw there is a free game similar to beat saber, moon rider, go to browser and put moonrider.xyz

Got any zelda type games? I was the shit at that on snes and n64. Next game probably going to be a boxing game. Probably thrill of the fight.

Beat Saber has the largest following and mod support. The other music games will be no-contest. The biggest thing (imo) is that you can load custom songs onto BS. There's even a website (BeatSage) that will do it automatically for you. Just find a song on Youtube, copy the link, paste the link, pick your options, and download. I think the "free" version limits you to 10-minute songs.

No idea on Zelda-type games. Check out some gameplay for Moss. It's consistently the highest-rated platformer I know of. It was free in the Fall at some point and I missed it

For boxing, it looks like people go between Thrill of the Fight (70%) and Creed (30%). I haven't tried either one.

If you haven't tried them yet, get Aircar (PC). It's free and awesome!

Got 25% off code off next game.

https://cogconnected.com/feature/7-games-play-oculus-quest-2/2/

This puts moss number 2. Watching first 3 min of youtube made me think zelda for 64

Def don’t want to waste code for thrill of the fight which is only 10. Fitxr also 30, seems most good games are $30

^I played the first episode when I first got my headset, it def is a great game. I remember just looking over Mustafar with the tie fighters flying around and being amazed. The lightsaber dojo is really fun too. I never got around to the other two episodes but they are on my list.

If you haven't already, you should check out what's available on SideQuest; there's quite a bit of interesting stuff on there, much of it free/cheap. I just got Warplanes: WW1 Fighters earlier tonight (It's only 10 bucks). Haven't had a chance to play it much yet, but it looks pretty cool.

quarantine boredom and increased interest due to reading this thread convinced me to order a quest 2 this weekend. Supposed to arrive today, and I am looking forward to playing around with it. Think I’m probably going to pick up beat Saber, cause I’m hoping the wife will like that too, and also thinking Vader Immortal might be another fun one to help get my feet wet in the VR game

There's a new peripheral for the Quest that lets you control your avatar with your mind alone. Here's a demo video; aliens with pulsing brains are being blown up by a guy's mind:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMXfyZc_Gvg

It costs $399. I'm tempted, but at this point I expect the software support is too limited to justify that expense to myself. FWIW, the developer's website is here, but it's been down for the past 20 minutes so I haven't had a look yet:

Probably going to return mine before Sunday, last day possible. Been paying some hooker too much lately so need the money and novelty wore off. Not a big gamer anyway but thing feels kinda uncomfortable after like 15 minutes. Like pressure against eyes or something, feels like pulling back skin and drying them out. Plus my small ass apartment. Returned beat saber and walking dead game for refunds. Got both so at least that process is easy. Figure target might say can return in 30 days if unused. Kinda wanted to try thrill of the fight, and still could I guess in next 24 hours, $10 not a big waste of money, compared to 30 walking dead was after 25% coupon, but would prob hit my tv or run into my coffee table. Beat saber seems way overpriced at 30 when there are other similar games for free, but ability to add your own music is something I never felt like messing with before I decided other similar free game was sufficient.

^what are the free versions of beat saber? Are they side loaded? I’ve been loving my oculus 2 so far (only like 5 days in), I’m really impressed, but the novelty could very well wear off in the future. I did buy actual beat saber and enjoying it quite a bit, probably won’t try side load hacking my own songs for awhile though. Anyone played Phantom: Covert Ops? That may be my next purchase

there's a few hoops and some clunky interfaces to jump through to get custom songs onto Beat Saber, but I think it's well worth it to play songs you actually enjoy. Again, that custom songs website is teh wins. It's not perfect (some combos on expert are impossible due to box placement), but still great.

I never tried making my own songs on Beat Saber but once you get the mod pack set up with it (only takes ~15 mins) the website makes it really easy to add more that other people have made. You literally just go to the website, search for the song, then click on the add button. Then next time you load up Beat Saber, it is there.

Played the demo for Super Hot today, and then quickly bought the full game, having a whole lot of fun with it. (I also knocked my headset completely off my head and across the room while ducking from bullets or punching someone or something, and thought I broke it. It appears to be ok though)

^it can be used both independently (nice mobile processor) or fed from your PC, using your PC's hardware to do the work. Feeding from PC can be done wired or wirelessly. The wireless actually has better colors but you'll need 1) PC hardwired to router and 2) good 800+ mbps 5ghz connection from Quest 2 to router.

Quest-specific titles ain't much. You'll have access to Rift titles once you connect to PC. Quest and Rift have different capabilities, thus different titles available to them. You'll need Rift software installed on PC.

Still rocking out with my Rift S. Had to get a new link cable last year but Oculus sent it to me for free. Playing Lone Echo 2 right now and it is every bit as awesome as the first one. Beat Saber is also a great workout, especially if you download some mods. I have like 200 songs.

I've been using Supernatural for my workouts. combines boxing and beat saber and some lower body stuff. I like it so far. 11 ping pong is good as well. it's crazy how well they're able to capture the physics of the game. definitely feels accurate in terms of how I serve / spin IRL. Thrill of the Fight is another awesome game. Hoping for multiplayer in the sequel on that one.

Walkabout Mini Golf is still my favorite game but I don't do as much VR stuff as I used to

Has anyone played Skyrim VR using a Quest 2 connected to a PC and SteamVR? That seems like it would be fun but I've heard you have to use a lot of mods to make it playable and that the vanilla SkyrimVR isn't very good.
