I've been using Sling since it came out early in 2015, been pretty happy with it. But YouTube TV is pretty attractive with all of the channels, especially all of the additional sports channels and ACC Network. Only channels they don't have but Sling does is A&E, Comedy Central, History, EPIX, Lifetime, Viceland, AXS & Fuse. I can live without it for the dozens of channels YT TV does get instead. The only issue is $50 per month instead of $25 with Sling. How does account sharing work? I'm sure I can get a family member here in Raleigh to split with me to bring the cost back to $25 each (he uses Sling as well). I know my mother in Greensboro would be very interested but not sure how it would work in separate cities. Thanks in advance for any insight

You just add a separate email and that person has their own dedicated dvr, channel lineup, etc. You can have up to 5 or 6 I think

never using AT&T again.Charged me for not returning my DirectTV equipment even though I did. I call and explain this, they admit they received it in time, but didn't record it as returned until after the deadline. So it's my problem? FTS.

^^ yeah each person has their own account and profile/DVR etc.they allow up to 3 concurrent streams[Edited on August 23, 2019 at 11:42 AM. Reason : also fwiw you can buy 300Mbs from at&t fiber for around $55/month (post tax) on their normal prices...dont have to the full gig]]

^Does reddit have section on group shares for youtube TV? They do for Cricket, saves me a ton.
8/23/2019 11:44:16 AM
^I tried to check on reddit for my questions on using multiple accounts in different locations, it looks like that sub reddit is policing the spreading of that info and removing posts. I knew I could count on TWW for the real info. I know it was cool to do over a year ago, but wasn't sure if they had cracked down on it or not. Gonna give YouTube TV a go in a few weeks once my Sling subscription is up for the month. Thanks

^ yeah that's one reason i'm probably gonna switch over to spectrum. they got me for like $40 a few months ago on an overage.[Edited on August 24, 2019 at 5:30 PM. Reason : but most households won't come close to using 1TB]]

I stream quite a bit due to PS Vue, prime video, roku channel, and crackle. Occasionally download torrents but not as often as my college days. I think I’ve hit 400gb once. I think PS Vue streams at 720p though, which may be why my usage is so low.I pay about 52/month after taxes/equipment fees for uverse 25 down, I think 5 up. I am only able to have Uverse at my apartment for internet. The apartments signed a contract that only allow Uverse.

8/26/2019 7:07:26 AM
^ you wouldn't come close to a 1 TB cap either imo. Its video downloading that gets you there.
8/26/2019 10:55:45 AM
i only had trouble with the cap because of my plex server that I use and share outside of the house (so download video and upload for streaming), and due to offsite backups.with overages I don't think I ever paid more than the cost of the gigabit, but I was paying the equivalent cost of gigabit frequently enough that it made sense to upgrade.

planning to cancel comcast tv+internet and moving over to at&t internet once disney+ goes live in november
8/26/2019 1:46:21 PM
cut the cord a few years ago. by using my parents' log in i could still access watchespn until last year. that's when we got sling and generally enjoyed it. we don't watch a ton of live tv other than sports, and i cancelled/paused the sling subscription once basketball season ended. sling doesn't have ACC Network as of now, so i'm looking at other options for football season.youtube tv is $5 more than hulu + live tv and generally the channel lineup looks pretty similar for which channels i'd be interested in. would anybody recommend one over the other or are they virtually the same (other than the few channel differences)? we already pay the $8/month for regular hulu so i'm leaning towards hulu + live since we use hulu with some regularity. i'd also like to split this cost with my parents since they're in the same boat as me (looking for ACC Network)...it looks like hulu supports 2 streams at once and youtube supports 3. and we've been using a Roku, which i'm sure would still support either of these.[Edited on August 27, 2019 at 6:44 AM. Reason : d]
8/27/2019 6:43:15 AM
I'd recommend YTTV as I know they have all the sports I've ever tried to find...if someone can confirm that Hulu+live has the same depth of sports channels then I'd say go for it. (Hulu has a DVR built in like YTTV right?)Hulu is better with all the on-demand content though...so if you use that a lot probably stay with Hulu.https://www.cnet.com/news/youtube-tv-vs-sling-tv-vs-directv-now-vs-hulu-and-more-live-tv-channels-compared/[Edited on August 27, 2019 at 11:10 AM. Reason : seems like lots of games i watch come on those regional sports networks (RSNs)]]
8/27/2019 11:09:54 AM
I was thinking for ACC and NC State purposes, the acc network would replace the need for RSN channels. Any idea if that’s the case?
8/27/2019 11:35:33 AM
I don't know the answer to that...somebody might though. I'm thinking for ncsu basketball games at the least the RSNs will continue to be involved.[Edited on August 27, 2019 at 12:28 PM. Reason : ]
8/27/2019 12:27:44 PM
Quick look at the schedule...and football game 2 vs WCU is on RSN. The ACCN can only show so much stuff, RSNs aren't going anywhere.
8/27/2019 3:13:25 PM
^ oh yeah, duh...I could’ve just checked the schedule. Thanks. So YouTube TV it is for me.

anybody have any issues with sharing their YoutTube TV with family members? i've read some about them cracking down on using the YTTV away from your "home location". because my parents are olds, i'm tasked with figuring all this out for them. i figured we could just split the YTTV, but if they're cracking down on that we might as well just get two separate subscriptions.
8/28/2019 6:32:56 AM
^^nope. on D+
8/28/2019 6:50:47 AM

Disney +. Hulu. ESPN + are rumored to be in a package for 14 bucks. Im all over that if so
8/28/2019 1:35:28 PM
make it ESPN-actual and i'm down
8/28/2019 1:46:40 PM
I can't believe ESPN hasn't done a standalone all-encompassing ESPN everything (1, 2, 3, News, Plus, etc) yet. There's definitely demand for it, so there's obviously some kind of other reasoning why it doesn't exist.

8/28/2019 6:04:13 PM
^If you make an account for you and your parents, I would gladly pay a 3rd to try it out. I just bought a bunch of PSN cards at 15% discount have about 4 months left in my wallet for PS Vue, but if it worked out, I could always save that $ for games, if I ever get back into gaming. If not, I understand, no hard feelings.
8/28/2019 6:47:59 PM
I guess normally 5 days, ending today youtube tv is offering 21 day free trial. Epix and a hand full of other add ons for 21 days too. Auto renew for PS Vue is 10th, so canceled to try for 3 weeks. Got all my shows added to DVR. So far only recorded show was 60 minutes. Did not like the fast forward option compared to PS Vue, but not a huge deal. On PS Vue, you can fast forward the exact amount of time you want, can touch forward until its about 4 minutes and past the commercials. On YoutubeTV, you can only fast forward 15 seconds at a time, and have to wait half a second, then another ff 15 seconds, and so on.Seems like their on demand feature may be better though. Real test is tomorrow for MNF on mobile, and the other TV shows I watch, to see if first 30 seconds/last 30 seconds are cut off or included. And i believe Around the Horn is on ESPN 2 Monday, so will be nice to see how it handles that. pS Vue is usually pretty good, not always though. Don’t really care about NFL network, their games are on Fox or Amazon now. Like that I don’t have to pay $5 extra for TCM

^same here, when trial is over me and a coworker are going to split it.You can sometimes find google play store giftcards 7-15% off too, and use them to pay[Edited on September 16, 2019 at 7:09 PM. Reason : Giftcards]

ESPN finally cut off my free access, last time I opened the app it asked me to verify

still holding strong with no subscriptions (other than prime). really wish I hadn't packed up my antenna though.
10/1/2019 7:14:08 AM
What about sportsballs?
10/1/2019 6:48:29 PM
Just play with my own now. Other than the home games I went to, I've been busy every weekend with no time to watch.Although in fairness to TWW, I did have a guest a while back that logged into a certain device of mine in order to watch certain programming / channels. I cannot confirm nor deny if that guest logged out upon their departure. But... I don't think I've even used those apps since.[Edited on October 2, 2019 at 8:00 AM. Reason : .]

I'm going to head this route after I called up Spectrum looking to lower my bill and getting completely rebuffed. My bill for TV + Internet has crept north of $250 and I'm done.I'm looking at the Disney+ /Hulu/ ESPN service and HBO Go.I have Amazon Prime and I share Netflix with family.YouTube TV looks like a decent service. Are there other services I should be looking at? Are there must have devices? I have a new Fire TV stick and a 1st gen. Chromecast and that's about it. I haven't messed with OTA TV since the 80s.My family doesn't watch a huge amount of TV. My wife and I will probably watch from an hour in the evenings. We'll try to follow 1-3 shows but they could be on network TV or a streaming service to HBO... no real consistent trend. The kids will watch kids stuff; mostly movies. The only sports I pay much attention to is college football. I'll watch the NFL while it live every now and then. What are people paying for just ATT fiber service?
4/13/2020 11:09:34 AM
in raleigh i pay 70 for 1gbps fiber from att. on comcast I pay 100 for all but the highest tier of cable and 1000/40 cable (own my modem, use a cable card so no boxes). all the streaming services just serve to fragment the content I'm after in a shitty experience so I don't use any. if you get $70 internet (so you don't have a cap) and add almost any streaming service you're really close to a double play promo price. I'd say just cancel all your service while there's nothing on, deal with using your phone as a hotspot, then sign up as a new customer. I did this when I went on a 3 week trip to europe and lowered my bill $40/month
4/13/2020 12:19:41 PM
With the wife and I both working from home plus the kids doing online learning, I can't really afford the downtime with no internet to try to get a new customer price from Spectrum. Besides, fuck 'em.
4/13/2020 1:46:12 PM
There isn't downtime. Use your old service till the new service is running. Connect to new service, get warm fuzzies then cancel the old service.[Edited on April 13, 2020 at 10:27 PM. Reason : Assuming you have another provider available ]
4/13/2020 10:26:43 PM
I don't have access to fiber at my location in raleigh, and my options are either 200/20 for $70 with spectrum or 50/5 for $50 with t-mobile, so I have spectrum.I typically sign on with youtube tv in september to get college football and keep it through march for college basketball. With youtube tv, you don't need to worry about OTA stuff at all. Kids mostly watch pbs stuff through amazon prime. My wife also never really got on board using youtube tv, mostly streams amazon prime.I do have OTA and a dvr setup with plex running at my house (although this is within the last 2 months, previously we were using something else for the past 5 years). I was pretty close to just buying one of the home dvr things for my wife to use to record bachelor and young sheldon, but plex worked out fine. Most of my friends without cable have youtube tv. I love youtube tv, but I don't watch any live tv from march until september.
4/13/2020 10:32:26 PM
^^ smoothcrim was talking about Canceling Spectrum and then signing back up under a different name. I assume that would come with some down time.
4/14/2020 10:30:05 AM
with the same name it has down time and that was my only choice because I live alone. if you want to sign up under your wife's name instead of yours, you could probably do it without downtime.

BOIIIIIIIII you got lucky all the sportsballs got cancelled But wait how did you watch Tiger King etc?How are you surviving the Rona with only Prime video?DID YOU EVEN WATCH THE MANDALORIAN?Dude u know there's a new Westworld season out rn right? What about Saturday Night Live?
4/27/2020 10:45:37 AM
youtube tv adding viacom channels in summer. hope $50 rate doesn't increase or not by muchreally missed comedy central the past few years
5/8/2020 12:52:27 AM
We're really happy with YouTube TV. It's nice when the power goes out, I don't have to worry about something not recording. Plus no physical DVR hardware to worry about or having to reboot etc. The most annoying thing is the live guide only goes out 24hrs on most devices.
