Pretty sure Harris could transfer down a level and play immediately if playing time was all he cared about. Did those new transfer rules ever happen? I remember reading about being able to transfer and not sit out but he probably wouldn't qualify anyways since he already did it once.
3/28/2019 10:02:35 AM
Yeah could definitely transfer to d2, but I can’t really keep up with all the transfer rules
3/28/2019 10:28:07 AM
3/28/2019 11:09:27 AM
well i mean if we're just talking about "threats to leave" then you might as well list the entire roster.
3/28/2019 11:52:18 AM
I heard Keatts misses Wilmington and is mad that tww I mean to him
3/28/2019 12:01:26 PM
While on topic, sorta, I’m sure Markell will do the testing the waters thing. Bryce too possibly. No reason not to, right?
3/28/2019 1:13:34 PM
Correct. They can now declare & withdraw from the draft twice. Pretty much every sophomore+ player should do it, there's absolutely no downside. On a related note, every single college player should enter their name in the transfer portal, unless they are completely 100% happy with every aspect of their current situation. Again, there is no downside to entering the portal.
3/28/2019 1:20:53 PM
I am not sure Bryce and Daniels have NBA prospects at this time, no offense
3/28/2019 3:31:20 PM
Yeah not at all. Markell is the only one that might get a look but his 2017 numbers were way better than 2018. I think him staying another year would have a huge impact on his salary potential. Hope he realizes that too.
3/28/2019 3:34:36 PM
Nowhere did I say it was LIKELY that Bryce or Daniels would go pro, I only said it's more likely they go pro internationally than transfer out. Bryce will be 23 this year with minimal NBA prospects. He probably has his degree already as a RS-JR, so he's essentially in the same boat as Trevor Lacey where coming back is fun and all, but he could potentially take his degree and get paid to play somewhere. Devon Daniels is less likely because he'll only be 21 this year and probably hasn't graduated. He has 2 years of eligibility left, likely hasn't graduated, so transferring seems like a bad idea at this point so I'd probably put him very unlikely to go pro. Blake Harris could transfer out, but I doubt he'd make any decision until Markell makes a choice, but even then, Harris was playing more down the stretch and has a good chance to at least be the 2nd string PG next year with good chances to take over the starting job the following year. If Markell leaves early, Harris is in line for a BUNCH of minutes next year.
3/28/2019 3:47:11 PM
Sources say the entire team is going pro

If you look at his per 40 mins stats, the only thing down is rebounding (by less than 1) and assists. He had less assists because he took on more of the scoring load. Shooting %, FT%, 3PT% all went up and that’s all on more attempts (FT attempts were basically the same and his FT% went up by 14%!)
3/28/2019 4:50:21 PM
Really hoping next year we're in a position where we can run an offense where Beverly doesn't have to play PG...like, at all.

This stuff is harder now since everyone can come back, but Ky Bowman has an Instagram post that seems pretty clearly that he is in the draft to stay.
4/2/2019 1:11:21 PM
^ he's signing with an agent
4/2/2019 1:52:48 PM
Now you can sign with an agent and still come back. There are certain stipulations to the new rule, but you can be represented by an agent and then return to school now.
4/2/2019 2:07:07 PM
^^That by itself doesn't matter anymore I think. You can sign with an agent to get evaluation help and still come back.[Edited on April 2, 2019 at 2:07 PM. Reason : E]

Markell put his name in. We're DOOOOOOOMED

4/5/2019 4:52:39 PM
yeah i wouldn't worry about this (yet). he was always gonna put his name...just like dorn did last year and just like a lot of other upperclassmen will be doing. deadline to decide is 5/29
4/5/2019 6:31:33 PM
Somebody create a Markell bojangles sandwich
4/5/2019 7:16:17 PM
Well someone seems to know that we will be returning a fairly experienced team next year. Lunardi has us as a 5 seed in the South Region in his first bracketology for next year.
4/10/2019 12:18:22 AM
Lunardi is a lunatic for coming out with 2020 tournament seedings right now
4/10/2019 12:26:32 AM
its the only thing he does. ESPN makes him do that shit regularly
4/10/2019 12:44:03 AM
Lunardi is a moron. His only job is drive website traffic. Also, his degree in bracketology isn't even real!
4/10/2019 2:44:01 AM
a 5 seed seems kinda crazy. assuming everybody comes backs and we add a grad transfer...it'd still take big steps forward (imo) by Daniels, Funderburk, Bryce, and Harris (or Lecque taking all of Harris' mins i guess). not that Bryce and Funderburk were bad or anything...but they need to be more consistent and more assertive
4/10/2019 6:26:52 AM
Acc should generally be worse so IF Markell and lecque are here, we schedule a little better, the acc schedule isn't brutal/top heavy, Bates gives us anything, then I think we should be quite a bit better, resume wise, than last year's bubble team.Buncha IFs there but that's the optimistic take
4/10/2019 7:31:02 AM
Yeah the ACC will probably be a little down. Duke, UNC, UVa will still be good for sure, but probably can be reasonably expected to take a slight step back. Teams like Wake, BC, GT will still suck. If Nwora goes pro, UL will take a step back too. We do stand a chance to benefit from all that. But like you said, it’s contingent on no unforeseen attrition and the team improving and developing.
4/10/2019 8:05:58 AM
I'd worry more about our roster than the rest of the ACC. Duke and UNC look worse on paper but UNC is likely to land 1, maybe 2, more 5* guys and they'll be in the grad transfer market. Duke will have a talented squad, Jones coming back helps. If all of our guys return, Lecque comes here, and we add a post-grad shooting option, we'll be a tournament team on paper. But that is a lot of stars aligning for NC State basketball in one offseason, and how often does that happen for us?
4/10/2019 9:30:16 AM
A post grad shooting option would be nice, but, with my other caveats, I don't think it's necessary to be a tourney lock.
4/10/2019 10:23:26 AM
I mean...we were basically a tourney team on paper this year too. When I say we can take advantage of a weaker ACC, I’m not saying we’re gonna contend for a title. I just mean it might make it easier to win a couple of those games vs the top of the league.
4/10/2019 11:24:05 AM
I don't see any reason to think we will be much better or much worse than this year. We have 19-21 wins and either barely miss the tournament or get a play-in game.
4/10/2019 3:54:30 PM
undefeated national champs
4/10/2019 4:14:55 PM
If we have 19-21 wins and end up on the bubble again, I would have some serious concerns about Keatts ability to put together a winning OOC schedule.
4/10/2019 4:27:04 PM
4/10/2019 6:08:22 PM
If Braxton goes from his abysmal second half of the season shooting performance back to somewhere near his normal average we win a lot of the games we barely lost this past season. And we're looking for some new blood shooters, which I hope can pan out.
4/11/2019 10:49:40 AM
Yeah BB was slumping bad the last half of the season...if he can get back to just 38% or so that’d be great. He was 38% his freshmen year, but that was on fewer attempts.
4/11/2019 11:07:42 AM
I think decreasing his usage may help his efficiency (just spit balling without stats to back it up )
4/11/2019 11:40:55 AM
^yeah that probably wouldn't hurt...but his usage wasn't way up from his freshman year. this year his 3PT attempts increased by 1.3 attempts/game. that's probably not insignificant. but he was still shooting 5 3PTs/game his freshman season too. and his overall FG attempts/game was basically identical.
4/11/2019 12:12:58 PM
I think everyone can agree that breaking his hand was terrible for his shot
