So I had the twins 7 weeks early. One twin spent 15 days in the NICU and the other spent 21 days. They will be 4 months old this week. And I still have a hard time believing they are mine.

What if they aren't yours? What if they got switched in the hospital?

I just turned 44 and have a 5 and 10 year old. I’m always tired. I couldn’t imagine twins, raising two the same age at the same time. Just shoot me.

If I had twins, I'd make them box each other

I spend more time that I care for keeping mine from boxing each other.

^I knew a woman who gave birth at a veterinary hospital. Her actual child somehow got mixed up with a german shepherd pup. She now has to take her "son" out for walks to use the bathroom, while her actual real son is herding sheep in Austria. As you can imagine, it has been traumatic for the mother. And the sad thing is, no one seems willing to help her out.

As a dad who had kids right after college, I did miss out on some cool shit that other friends got to do when they were younger. But now that I'm 42 and have only a year and a half of high school left with my youngest, I'm super glad that I'm not having kids now and almost through that phase of my life. My boss who is 41 and got married a lot later in life than me (during the pandemic) has been trying to have kids and it has been a LOT harder on them. They had to resort to IVF and lost one quite early, but his wife is pregnant again now. Meanwhile me and the other guy in my team who is in his 30's and has one kid are both done and got snipped. My boss is very excited about having a kid and is in a much better place financially to have one, but just on the physical energy side, I'm glad I'm not the only looking to end the year with a crying baby waking me up at night, having to change diapers, etc. I just don't know that I would have the energy for it in my 40's, and to be dealing with colleges when I'm 60 sounds rough.

I'm 41 with a 0.25 year old and a 2.75 year old. Almost every day I ask my myself what I'm going to be doing at age 59 with one starting college or going to trade school. If I die before then, I hope I can have them set up with good life insurance and my Roth. I wouldn't have been ready for kids 5-6 years ago though. It's all working out with the perfect wife/mom for me. awwww

What is hard about "dealing with college" as a dad at 40 versus 60?

Much harder to fuck your kids girlfriends when you're 60

^Not that there’s anything wrong with that

I have had three kids in my mid to late thirties and I deal with the above situation by saving for retirement since I was 23.
