I'd argue that this is the best receiving corps, as a whole, we've had in my lifetime.

In terms of raw talent and potential for guys I've been alive to see pay, I'd actually see it as Rivers, Wilson, Finley, Brisette, and then Glennon.

Rivers should have multiple rings but stayed on a Spanos run Chargers team too long. Wilson is excellent. Finley has great vision, a good arm, pretty sound judgement, and good accuracy. I think he has more NFL potential than Glennon ever will. Brisette is interesting with his added run element and I think he should be starting somewhere. I like Glennon, but he fits a very particular system and I think he's been under tremendous pressure every start he's ever had - either behind our dogshit o-line and butterfinger receivers, or in some play to win the starting job type of ordeal with the media/fan favorite right at his heels. I hope I'm wrong and he becomes a true starter somewhere but I see more potential in Finley or Brisette for that.

We've been saying it for two years.. Just easier to point it out to everyone else when we lose.. He's a good college qb.. Not anything great

The only people that think he's superstar are imaginary. Most of us think he's a good college qb, and the Justin et al think he's garbage

Er I mean, FINLEY IS GREAT. DRAFT WORTHY.

He has generally played a little worse this year. Not having much of a running game didn't help. Two really bad picks at BC. All that said, he wasn't bad today. Lots of bad drops. The first pick hit the receiver in the hands. Second he threw into coverage but maybe expected Emezie to beat out a LB. Receivers were covered pretty well all day (and being hit early IMO) so his job was pretty tough.

Also, PFF isn't perfect but also isn't a state fan and they've rated him pretty well. I would also bet alot that he gets drafted, whether he's "draft worthy" or not

Of course he's going to be drafted. But if he's a first round pick he'll be a massive failure.

He is still terrible. But he also has the physical attributes desired in a modern NFL qb.

GNSP. He reminds me of Chad Pennington, not much arm strength and if he anticipates well he can look good, but was late on most everything today. Unfortunately I think he cost himself some serious money today in draft position.

He does this every year though....when we have big games against the top teams he shits the bed. And this is the best group of WRs probably in NCSU history.

I can't imagine what RW Glennon or even Brissett could have done with this group.

Having said that....he is still probably the 2/3 best QB in the ACC and we will be favored in every game left.

Finley shit the bed but I don't recall RW winning very many of our big games either. I do remember him losing a game to ECU.

[Edited on October 23, 2018 at 12:45 AM. Reason : this years WR group dropped a few key opportunities early in the game]

Pretty sad if the "best WRs in school history" have that many drops off their hands and balls they let the defensive backs rip away from them

Maybe in 2016, but he was pretty solid in all the big games last year.

He threw for 338 yards and 3 TDs last year against Clemson. Not what I'd call shitting the bed.

He also had 367 yards in the game against Louisville, going against the heisman trophy winner on national TV.

Glad to see he finished strong. It seems like the last few games he has been throwing too high. I know he likes to let our receivers go up and get the ball but some passes seem to be floaters.

Saw this in the comments section on a backing the pack article

Quote :
"Since Finley took over the reins we have had 8 games where we entered the last 5 minutes of the game tied or down by a possession or less. We are 0-8 in those games.

2016 ECU 2 possessions 2 turnover on downs
2016 Clem 2 possessions missed field goal, interception
2016 BC 1 possesion interception
2016 FSU 1 possession turnover on downs
2017 SC 2 possessions 2 turnover on downs
2017 Clem 1 possession interception
2017 WF 2 possessions fumble, interception
2018 Syr 1 possession interception"

So Finley is 0-8 on game winning drives. That's pretty good, right?

Even at first glance, 2016 clemson and 2017 WF, while technically true, are a crock on that list. So your argument is that with a competent kicker and a goal line camera, finely is a much better qb?

I'm not making any argument, I just said I copy and pasted that.

Just saying it doesn't surprise me that Finley is not clutch. My eyes have been telling me that for almost 3 years now.

That was your cue to stop taking anything this guy says seriously. How anyone that lived through the Davis, Stone, Beck, Evans years can so easily compare that atrocious QB play to what we have now is beyond me. Ignore him as if he were a troll.

I'm sorry that I'm realistic and not on the OMG FINLEY FOR #1 DRAFT PICK hype train. I watch us play and see a guy who is plenty smart and usually takes what the defense gives and makes good reads, but he's never going to put a team on his back and go win a game. He doesn't have elite accuracy, which hurts in the redzone when the passing windows get smaller. His highlight reel passes are a bunch of jump balls to Harmon, not threading the needle to hit a guy in stride.

Also he does have best WR group I've ever seen, even though he routinely tries to kill them by throwing high over the middle to them. And I stand by that statement - these receivers would make anyone look good.

He's clearly better than Davis and Stone and Evans and Pete Thomas, but he's also clearly nowhere near the QB that Rivers (or Wilson) was.
