So I wonder how many of those 50k jobs would be WFH?Ingesting 50k+ more people into downtown as it is seems like it would be a nightmare.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt the 50,000 new employees over a 10 year period? So we will have some time to build infrastructure to help with the inflow. However, I am not sure how that 50,000 is spread over the 10 years.

Except we're probably already 7-10 years behind the infrastructure that should already be in place.

I'm sure some of those people would work remotely or travel.

^^ what infastructure exactly are we behind on?
6/1/2018 11:45:12 AM
Parking, for one. Assuming they'll be building their own tower, likely they'll have a parking deck, but still, there isn't enough parking in downtown Raleigh. Roads leading into Raleigh are way behind. Live in southern Wake? Good luck getting anywhere around Ten-Ten road. 401 is a cluster going north into Raleigh as well as coming south.

there is loads of parking in downtown raleigh, parking in raleigh is great

^^ so traffic congestion during rush hour means our infrastructure is 7-10 years behind?
6/1/2018 12:19:14 PM
your roads are fine
6/4/2018 11:12:37 AM
^^^ yeah but it's not free like it used to be...But compared to most other cities Raleigh does have good parking, we're just not use to paying for it like in other places, or having to walk 3-4 blocks from our parking location.I think it would be cool if we had efficient mass transit from suburban areas into the Raleigh, sort of how the the Long Island Express in New York works, that would relieve a lot of the vehicle traffic issues.

Monthly parking for workers in downtown is not good. We recently hired a couple new people at my office, and they had to pay for daily parking every day for like a month before being able to get into a monthly lot
6/4/2018 12:39:50 PM
^Yup. And looks like no intention to build more parking even with more skyscrapers being built. Going to push the need to use park and ride services to keep downtown from getting too congested.
