Yeah, Vegas homeboy clearly brought his 3D printer along with him for target practice at Mandalay Bay last night.
10/2/2017 10:33:16 PM
How much does a marijuana seed cost? How much does a 3D printer and the materials needed cost?
10/2/2017 10:34:20 PM
How much does a field of opium cost?
10/2/2017 10:44:38 PM
Probably less than producing the amount of weapons it would take to satisfy the same amount of demand as the field of opium

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_printed_firearmsIt's obviously early in the game, but you can get a 3D printer at Walmart for $160 https://www.walmart.com/ip/2017-Upgraded-High-Precision-Anet-A8-Reprap-Prusa-I3-DIY-3D-Printer/174657725?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=2342&adid=22222222227062049768&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=166027920153&wl4=pla-274826698457&wl5=9009977&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=113515901&wl11=online&wl12=174657725&wl13=&veh=sem and it's about $25 worth of plastic to create a gun https://www.forbes.com/sites/andygreenberg/2013/05/20/25-gun-created-with-cheap-3d-printer-fires-nine-shots-video/And if someone has already created the "blueprint" and you can just plug it into some software, it doesn't seem like it would take a ton of technical know-how. It's not as far-fetched as it sounds.
10/2/2017 10:54:48 PM
When you put it that way, neither does Elon Musk's hypoerloop!Too bad he got these guns legally and not a DIY 3D printer job.
10/2/2017 11:03:38 PM
He got the machine gun legally? Link?Ok, I haven't checked for updates lately, they are indeed saying they think he bought them legally and modified at least one, we'll see. But assuming they were all purchased legally, if he had zero history of any criminal past or mental issues, what different gun control measures would have changed his ability to purchase them?[Edited on October 2, 2017 at 11:35 PM. He had 23 weapons in Vegas and 19 at home in Mesquite. That $160 3D printer must've been one hell of a work horse...My point goes back to the whole "Gun control won't ever be perfect, so let's not try" logic.It's dumb. [Edited on October 2, 2017 at 11:41 PM. Reason : .]

Mass murders are rare. If you ignore the aboriginal wars, Australia hasn't had a lot of them in its history, so it is probably too soon to say whether the change in laws has had any effect on mass murders. In Vegas, he could have just rented a big truck and driven through the crowd. That has proven effective in Europe. Switzerland has almost as many personal gunowners (gunowners as % of population) as the US - with a million or so militia keeping their service arms (the only ones that are automatics) at home and with option to purchase at end of militia service. They have about 15 gun homicides/year (avg less than one due to service arms). A gun homicide rate of 0.21/100,000 vs the US at 3.6/100,000. Guns are generally illegal in South America, they still manage to kill each other far more than the US does. Meanwhile, Vermont is the state with our lowest gun homicide rate, yet gun ownership is again prevalent. Most of our gun violence is in major cities, which just happen to be the front lines in the waging drug war. As such, in my opinion, ending the drug war will do far more to reduce gun violence in America than starting a second war, this time on guns. Americans want their heroin and will kill to deliver it. American also want guns, and will similarly kill to deliver them. No doubt a war on guns will reduce the gun suicide rate. But they'll just kill themselves some other way. Meanwhile, the number of deaths from illegal gun cartels will skyrocket.

10/3/2017 9:53:01 AM
Dont feel like typing it all out but in nutshell Chicago doesnt exist in a vacuum;
10/3/2017 10:05:41 AM
america only has 2 borders; 1 border is with a country with tightly controlled firearms and the other is a country that is a net importer of american firearms and has an increasingly monitored border. the reason that examples like chicago or france don't work as comparisons to america is that they don't have the same kind of isolation, this is also why gun control needs to be a federal issue and not left to states or local municipalities. gun laws were effective in australia because of it's isolation. we've talked about all of this before; gun nuts were okay with children being murdered in newtown and democrats still pushed for ineffective deal breakers, nothing about vegas is going to change anything[Edited on October 3, 2017 at 10:55 AM.
