The thing about Ozark is that, although it is a fictional drama, I would imagine that somebody randomly showing up to a tourist haven with a ton of money to launder would run into the same types of problems that Marty ended up facing. Namely, issues with local competition, the mob, and the FBI hot on his trail.Breaking Bad, although it was a fantastic story, reaaaalllly pushed the limits on reality vs fiction. Walter was in no way an accurate representation of how a brilliant chemist would go about things if he had to get into the meth game, and the DEA would realistically have had him on their radar much sooner than depicted in the series. In terms of good people getting their hands in the mud because they have to survive, yeah I get that their is a similarity there, but there's not much for a comparison beyond that IMO. They are both great slow burners though.[Edited on April 15, 2020 at 4:41 PM. Reason : a]

I'm through S3 E3, about to bail on the series. Does it get better this season? The whole goofy hippy brother thing bothers me. And each episode is some type of scavenger hunt or "do this for me" thing. It's like a GTA video game.

The brother issue was inevitable seeing as how "Marty just can't catch a break" is a dominant theme in this series, and don't act like you ain't got a crazy sibling or in-law that's always just fuckin your shit up.[Edited on April 16, 2020 at 3:00 PM. Reason : h]

We finally got around to binging through Season 3. I couldn't get into it at first, but it grew on me as it progressed, and I enjoyed it for the most part. But there was just something about it that kept me from really liking it. It just had too many things that were too unbelievable. Not to be lazy.... but compared to Breaking Bad: BB had a lot of unbelievable things in it, but it just seemed to be done in a way that made them more believable. Not sure how to describe it, but there just seemed to be something off about it. But I am looking forward to Season 4.(and people think Ruth is hot??)

I've always felt like, even though I really enjoy the show, the events were always just entirely too unlikely to happen. I think what did it for me was when they moved the bodies that were buried under the poppy field in one of the previous seasons. They moved the bodies to their family graveyard, and nobody in law enforcement decided to do DNA testing.Still really liked the show.

Thoughts on season 4?

I though S04 started a bit slowly but they amped the suspense / action near the end and went heavy on the murders - some fairly major characters from past seasons wiped outOverall it was a good part 1 although I'm not a fan that they split it into 2 partsI haven't read if Ozark is already extended past S04 but t seems like they are starting to point to potentially moving S05 or wrapping up this season in chicago

I've been watching this and have gotten through a couple episodes of the 4th season, and I think it's alright, but there's a huge"suspension of disbelief" required. So many things just aren't fleshed-out and aren't believable.Edit: Like rjrumfel said, but it's just not specific things like that. There's so many things. Like recently, the FBI agent decides to stay at there house to meet a cartel member? I mean, I know most shows require a suspension of disbelief, take Breaking Bad for example. But that just seemed to be done so much better. Some of it was very unbelievable, but they made efforst and just fleshed-it out so much better (I can't think of exactly what I'm trying to say here, but it just feels different)[Edited on January 26, 2022 at 11:20 AM. I liked s4 pt 1 more than season 2 or 3 I think. Of course there were the wtf plot moments where its like enemies just all the sudden become friends or the story is kinda too outrageous, but i found it less so than season 2 and 3. Just seemed less zig-zaggy, more congruent.^^i think they announced s4 is last season, broken into 2 partsSpoilersWonder if/how voting machine thing will come up in season 4 pt 2. There was this “dun-dun-dunnn” vibe about it when they realized why the former R senator wanted the info about his son, then they never touched it again. Thought the famous chef that od’d plot line was pretty pointless. Thought Navarros nephew Javi did a good job being like real sinister. I feel like if Javi didn’t kill Darlene, KC mob would have. I found it humorous how bitchy laura linney was versus how calm Marty was almost the whole season. Dude was so chill about everything. I expect the new sheriff to keep digging, especially after something to the effect that she doesn’t just leave things unfinished like last sheriff, and like to see how the PI plays into things. With this show almost seems impossible to guess how it goes…as much as the people involved making it want it to be compared to breaking bad, i see it kind of the opposite. Marty lives and the rest of the family is gone. But the flash forward at beginning of season 4 kinda makes one wonder.[Edited on January 27, 2022 at 12:40 AM. Reason : -]

[spoilers]"If you wanna stop me, you're going to have to fucking KILL MEEEE!" Man, that gave me chills. Love RuthJust finished last night. Really enjoyed part 1. Glad part 2 starts next week. I don't feel as bad for Wyatt after his dumb decision to marry Darlene. Ruth going to return to run the farm now that Darlene is out of the way? Still wondering where the car wreck comes into play. Series finale maybe. Seems weird to tease it.

Hard to believe this show started with so much promise and got so crappy by the end.
5/2/2022 5:40:56 AM
Finished last night. One thing that continued to stand out to me was defiance of the cartel then a surprised Pikachu face when they actually show up and threaten/kill someone. Like Darlene was a regular thorn in their side for a long time. Why would it be a surprise that they would kill her (even though it was more Javi acting alone, but still). Even moreso when Ruth and Rachel wouldn't play ball and refused to cooperate with using the casino to launder cartel money. Then their thug shows up and puts a gun to her head telling her he'll kill her if she doesn't. What did she think was gonna happen?

The use of Nas and Ruth explaining why she doesn't sleep ("you know") and the subtle Killer Mike Cameo was pretty cool[Edited on May 12, 2022 at 12:13 PM. Reason : i enjoyed it, but as i've explained a couple times, and ^, it was just too hard to find believab ]
5/12/2022 12:11:51 PM
How's it a subtle cameo when the man is playing himself in an entire scene with lines with a principal actor?
5/12/2022 3:41:21 PM
Because his name is never mentioned, or even that he's a rapper. She just randomly sees him in a diner and says "I admire your work", or something like that. If you didn't know who he was, you'd just assume he was some random actor (and the entire scene is only a couple minutes)
5/12/2022 4:38:03 PM
I just finished season 1 and show is only mildly entertaining so far. Unless I’m missing it the directing is far below breaking badBut I heard killer mike is in season 4 so I’m sticking it out
5/12/2022 10:31:12 PM
I really enjoyed the last season. But definitely agree a lot of the series, in general, can be unbelievable.
6/2/2022 12:37:27 PM
Wendy was so terrible. Marty deserves better.

So both Snells keep saying what happened to "our" family, are they related
10/6/2022 10:47:44 PM
Never thought of it that way. Rather, I would have said one inherits the history of the other through marriage.
10/7/2022 6:39:28 AM
If my partners family is from Greece I say "her family is from Greece", if both our separate families are from Greece I say "our families are from Greece.""our family is from Greece" means we're related.*mic drop*

Improper comparison.
