Recruiting has never really been an issue. Gott has had how many top 25 classes? Sidney Lowe got talent here while barely making NIT bids.
1/11/2017 11:36:17 PM
There's no doubt its Sean and Archie Miller.Bring both of them on...pair it with with Hodge now that he has some coaching ties and recruiting under his belt.Pay whatever it takes. We have the m0ni3$

In all honesty, I think Archie would come, but we need to strike soon. Don't want to lose him by passing like we did with Sean

Has Archie ever said anything positive about nc state publicly? Or are people just assuming he might want to coach here because he played here? I get why the job might be attractive for someone like him, especially with K, Roy, pitino, and Boeheim all on their way out in a few years, but it's also pretty unattractive for a lot of reasons that I'm sure he's aware of. Not defending gottfried, but you're not sending a good message if you're willing to fire a guy who took 2 teams to the sweet sixteen in 4 seasons or whatever. If your star is still rising it just seems to me like you might be better off holding out for a better gig.
1/12/2017 9:19:21 AM
I think he's been around the program some

^exactly... and I dont want any coach (no matter how big the name) that has any thought of possibly replicating what we've done the last 1.5 years. so if any candidates think its harsh, then move onto the next one please. I want a coach that hates to lose. Winning is easy, who doesnt love to win. Gottfried, right now, doesnt seem to hate losing the way we are. Hopefully thats not the case outside of what we see in the media.
1/12/2017 9:41:42 AM
just like with Doeren, Yow isn't going to fire anybody before she retires. it's also unlikely that a new coach will want to take the job when they don't have any idea who the new AD will be. Doeren and Gott both probably have at least two seasons left, like it or not.

^what was funny about it? care to share any insight?are you one of those that says teams that are ranked ahead of others are better places to coach just cause they are currently doing better??? you realize choosing where to coach doesnt mean you get to keep their current coach... would you really rather coach at baylor or creighton if you had the option. just as institutions with a basketball program. i mean am i getting through at all???come on step up and say something[Edited on January 12, 2017 at 4:25 PM. Nc state ranks lower than you think when you consider 1) very demanding fans 2) no recent success to speak of 3) 3 other local ACC teams to recruit against, 2 of which are powerhouses 4) a demand by (1) to semi-regularly defeat those powerhouses

Who the fuck is Jim Brey? You mean Mike Brey the ND coach? No reason for him to leave South Bend with the recent success they've had.
1/12/2017 7:16:03 PM
Syracuse is not a better job (private school in shit area with one head coach ever). Nor is UConn (shitty conference with little chance of that improving).Obviously UL is. As is Indiana, UCLA, Michigan, Michigan State, Florida, etc..[Edited on January 12, 2017 at 7:27 PM. Reason : Maryland is a good gig too now]
1/12/2017 7:26:32 PM
UL is a better job. But it shouldn't be. We should atleast be on par with Loserville
1/12/2017 7:28:11 PM
Louisville is a shitty community college commuter school but it has history, a great conference, great facilities and a shit ton of money to burn. It's a better job than us and has been since V left.

Enough of the Brey Brothers. We all know who we have landed on as our next potential coach. His next greatest work is Death of a Used Car Salesman
1/12/2017 8:40:47 PM
No more alumni coaches please. We've had enough of them for a while. Graduating from NC State doesn't mean you'll coach NC State to glory. Les RobinsonChuck AmatoSidney Lowe
1/12/2017 8:54:55 PM
Alumnus or not, Archie is a good choice if we go that route. Hard to fathom his wanna be thug ass in college becoming the State head coach, but at this point it's time to start exploring replacement options.
1/12/2017 9:02:20 PM
It's funny because 2/3 on that list basically were the only people willing to take the job at the time. And the other best coach we've had in 20+ years in football. But yeah, Sidney Lowe was a known quantity when we hired him. He was already a well established as a terrible head coach in the NBA.
1/12/2017 9:02:36 PM
So if Nate McMillan wanted to coach here you would say no? [Edited on January 12, 2017 at 9:37 PM. Reason : V Demanding our team not lose to a school that lost to Hartford and Fairfield is really damn bad]

we can't outrun and outgun teams loaded with talent like Duke and UNC. We a coach who runs a slower paced Princeston style offense that play good fundamental team defense to counterwait a second.....

There might be 10 mid-major/non P5 jobs out there better than NC State.

1/13/2017 10:18:35 AM
^^^^ depends on what you define as mid-major. NBE and American are technically mid-major but have teams that shame or at least equal our history and facilities.I think conference prestige in this day and age does make a difference though.[Edited on January 13, 2017 at 10:19 AM. fan attendance and national championships 30 and 40+ years ago don't make the nc state basketball coaching job nearly as desirable as some of y'all think. get it through your fat fucking skulls.
1/13/2017 11:43:23 AM
^3 Don't roll your eyes. Herb actually recruited well, he had a number of MCD's players, and butt loads of talented 4 stars. Gottfried as taken it up a notch in recruiting to be sure, but it wasn't like Herb was getting all like ToBy 2 stars
