Maybe they can somehow metabolize air into mass? Or eat other mass? I don't think its ever shown a xenomorph actually eating a human, has it? Usually just kill and run.

This is a similar process to how things like Bromine damage people when it touches human skin, but yeah, I forgot about the dripping through iron part. It still could be plausible that there is a reagent in their blood that turns into an acid once it interacts with the right environmental conditions.

Saw it. All these alien movies are basically the same. Shit hitting the fan early, fast, and hard. Sci fi horror slasher movies. Nothing more. Who gives a damn how these things grow? There is no hard science to these movies at all. It's a monster movie. It shows what ever it is it grows fast after being attached to a live organism. I actually don't care about the "engineers" because they aren't crafting a good story around it imo.

My biggest issue with this movie is how no one has protective gear when they land on the earth-like planet. And then they are surprised when someone gets sick. It's not like they even sent some type of droid or anything to check out the atmosphere, biological makeup, etc.

Kinda took me out of the movie right off the bat.

Seriously. I mean the concept of them walking around without any gear is just so absurd, it strains all credulity. David and Walter could have made it without any, of course, but the humans? And then they set foot in an alien spacecraft again, without any gear. They also don't seem to be at all concerned about any kind of animal life forms on this planet. Shit, even earth has tigers that could really mess up your day.

Bad. I agree with everything hoops said. Prometheus was ok but this... David becomes god which is cool and all but they squandered it with pathetic characters and ugly action scenes. They just gonna kill the engineers like that? Shouldn't have fired Lindelof. At least he can do characters.
