^That isn't a bad rule. I've seen too many times where someone with a beat up car is out there and starts leaking oil which causes some dominating drive to lose when he is about to win his first race, or break a long losing streak.

Why are they adding rules the week the season starts? No other sport operates this way.

simplifies the crash cart.

plus, with the last handful of places getting the same points there's a lot less incentive to drive around in a beat p car to go from 39th to 36th if a few more wrecks happen.

as for the fix damage rule.........i can't wait til we have a 15 car pileup and about 12 cars are hitting pit road at the same time to fix their damage and then we have a 8 minute caution riding around trying to figure out who went over 5 min and who didn't...lol

think they are going to use the pit road entrance and exit lines to make it easy to use the computer timing and scoring. but yea, im sure it will be an issue somehow

I run a fantasy NASCAR suicide league. You pick one driver a week and then can't pick them again. It makes watching the races really fun bc you have an extra drive to pull for every week, and all the other picks to pull against. And it's really easy to follow and keep up with. Picks come to me and I send out a spreadsheet to everyone at the start of the race.

If anyone wants to join, let me know. We all pay in but it's not high dollar.

^cool. in a season with 36 weeks and only 40 cars that would be tough. i do draft kings every week and have not lost that much. $3 can win you $30k next week. top 25% pay out $5 at least

not too mad the clash got rained out last night. day time should make them have to lift more and wheel it

That's part of what makes it fun...being strategic about when and where you pick the bottom drivers...plus there's always a few drivers (waltrip, Bowman, vickers, reed, etc.) that run a limited schedule so the pool is greater than 40. It's a marathon instead of sprint but it makes watching each weekend really fun. Our buy-in is $75 for the season if anyone wants to join. Top 5 pays-out, maybe more depending on the league size.

Supercross comes close to selling out NFL stadiums. Bought tickets day of the event at the Indianapolis Colts' stadium a couple years ago and I was way up in the rafters. Based on live attendance, they also get a ton of teenage and young 20s boys and girls that buy tickets and NASCAR or IndyCar or Formula One would love to have.

I consider Supercross the best-promoted racing series globally as far as being the series that comes the closest toward reaching their maximum potential. Something like the top 8 to 10 riders are all millionaires off of dirt bike racing.

OK. Time to start these races with all the heartbreak and drama wrapped around D.J. Kennington, Reed Sorenson, Timmy Hill, and Randy Lajoie's son. They're the only ones these races matter for. (I miss 60 cars showing up for Speedweeks.)

Results of the Twins:

In race 1, Randy Lajoie's son spun out Reed Sorenson sending him into the inside wall past the trioval and him qualifying.

In race 2, D.J. Kennington of Ontario barely beat out Elliott Sadler on the last lap to qualify. Sadler and Brendan Gaughan made the race on speed. Sorenson and Timmy Hill do not qualify.

I'd like to seen that data too plz. They didn't even come close to selling out the PNC Arena last time I saw them. In fact there was nobody in the upper level.

^^that was pretty dumb to admit it. he wrecked the one guy he was racing to make the race

duels were good. i dont mind plate racin as much the last couple years now that track position seems to matter more. the cars were loose even at night so they are going to be a handful sunday in daytime

people complaining about monster girls on twitter is NOT a news story. you can find people whining about anything on there

I showed the girl in Victory Lane to my wife and a friend of hers last night and said "does her outfit offend either of you". They both said no pretty much and I explained that some people were up in arms about it. I hope those people don't go to the beach and get a heartattack when they see a bikini for the first time.

There is a huge difference between the stadium and arena events though. At PNC they start and then hit the brakes to stop about a second after they push the gas. At football stadiums they actually race in circles on a track and have enough room to make big jumps. It's a pretty popular event in some of the stadium cities.

This Xfinity race has not been a good advertisement for the segment system. Race has had caution after caution, plus 2 red flags. They had a red flag right after another and then threw the green flag at lap 28...for the yellow to come out at lap 30, which then lasts 5 laps.

2 things is for the Xfinity Series and Trucks, it's going to make green flag pit stops almost extinct and lapped cars because they're slower, not because they wrecked, far more rare on the larger tracks.

The 5 minutes rule eliminated Elliott Sadler who was the best car all day and evening because their saw saw didn't have the battery charged to cut off the fender. Reason for the rule was to eliminate wrecked cars from creating cautions, it still happened twice. Sadler though still got points for leading at the two checkpoints. I don't mind that part of it outside of they create a caution, but that's the unstated reason why they have the segments to begin with is to create a caution.

Ryan Reed won. About half the field running at the end. Race was longer than any other 2016 Xfinity Series by 20 to 30 minutes.

^one could say its fuckin dumb to lead the most laps and get turned near end and be 30th in points

^^i would put way more blame on plate racin than the stages for bad race busch race. part of problem was they took a lot of spoiler off and the drivers didnt compensate, tried to push like they did last year. i know i'm in minority but i wish they would go back to tandem racing so the cars can get away from each other.

its daytona day!

Why did that caution take 7 laps? That's 17.5 miles.

Take the caution at end of lap 60. Catch pace car at end of 61. Come back from commercial at end of 63, then they come to pits at end of 63, start of 64. Another commercial. Then take the green at beginning of 68. 7-lap long caution with nothing on the track to clean up. That should be completed at a huge track like Daytona in 3 to 4 laps.

That is worse than the NFL's commercial-touchback-commercial.

And 5 laps after green? COMMERCIAL! I watched the Xfinity race yesterday on DVR, which thank God I did in hindsight. But that's the issue with NASCAR races (and NFL games as well) is it's beyond frustrating to watch the damn things live.

They just want to have a long break because NASCAR has determined that stoppages will draw more people since most people don't have the attention span to watch an entire race. The problem is cautions actually slow down the race and they cause other cautions which actually makes the race longer. Working to make a race as caution free as possible would actually be better for the sport.
