A great role no doubt, but I gotta go with Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade.

Gotta go with Sweeny Todd here

"Jack Nicholson- Jack Torrance"

There are a few options here, but Melvin Udall gets my vote.

Jack Nicholson: gotta go with R.P. McMurphy
Matthew Broderick: Ferris Bueller
Clint Eastwood: Man with No Name
Henry Fonda: The President (Fail Safe)
Peter Graves: Mr. Phelps
Will Smith: J
Schwarzenegger: Terminator
Brent Spiner: DATA
David Hyde Pierce: Niles Crane
Lon Chaney Jr: David Talbot
Richard Burton: Mark Antony (or Thomas Becket)
Peter O'Toole: Henry II (Becket or in Lion in Winter)
Paul Scofield: Thomas More

and, whilst not a "role" per se,

Rod Serling: Night Gallery (host)

Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, but I don't know if it was a role he was born to play as much as a role he was molded to play due to life choices.

I'd say Michael Corleone for Al Pacino, definitely, with Tony Montana a close second. Then maybe Carlito... after that I find most of his characters pretty annoying.
