The Baltimore riots were organized by city officials. There were rumors that kids were organizing at Mondawmin mall after school to "purge". Mondawmin mall is one of the busier locations in West Baltimore for kids transferring buses. Someone in the city requested MTA to shut down bus and subway operation for "safety" reasons, resulting in kids getting dropped off at the mall but not being transferred to their next stop. This effectively trapped kids there, whether they wanted to purge or not. The city had also sent riot police to the scene, but then followed up with an order to stand down to the trapped mob that was probably growing angrier and more startled due to the situation.

Whoever at the city made the request to shut down the MTA and followed that up with an order to riot police to do nothing / retreat to protect downtown was either wanting to orchestrate a riot or too incompetent for their job. The city has tried to blame the MTA shutdown on the school system and BPD, but a state agency isn't shutting down major transportation operations in a city without input directly from the mayor's office.

Raleigh isn't going to riot over some dumbass shooting out of his garage - they'll just lock him up for a long time and go back to business as normal.

So if you sue a police department you know you will get paid, the local government can find the money to pay ir their insurance will. What happens if you sue a private citizen for something that happens on their property? Will the homeowners insurance cover a murder or accidental shooting? I don't think the copleys are the kind of people to have hundreds of thousands of dollars sitting around.

Any concealed carry class instructor or law enforcement official will tell you that you never point your weapon at someone or fire a shot unless you plan to use deadly force and you must absolutely feel like your life is in immediate danger. The concept of a "warning shot" is absurd. It'd get you thrown in jail in a heartbeat.

The only justified situation I've heard similar to this is basically someone standing outside your door or window threatening to bust in and kill your or your family. Basically someone on a drug-fueled rage or otherwise unstable/pissed off.

Based on all accounts, this homeowner seems to be reckless and quick-tempered. Perhaps other facts will come to light, but at this point I have a hard time understanding how this situation should have cost this young man his life.

Yeah this sucks. We have large gatherings at my house and cars wrap around the neighborhood like what is explained by one of the witnesses. I could easily see a situation where some of my friends went back to their car to get something and could be seen as hanging out in front of someone's house. Hopefully there are no crazies that close to my house.

damn this is in my cousin's neighborhood. Massey Preserve. a lot of young families there. at least on his street the neighbors are all close friends and they have a lot of cook outs and stuff.
