I feel as though a douchebag steve meme is needed here...>Buys $400 cooler>Uses to keep $12 24-pack of beer cold

My yeti hat kept my head so hot I had a stroke
10/20/2015 6:40:49 PM
Overheard this gem"If you make, like, a Bloody Mary at night, when you wake up in the morning you'll still have ice in your tumbler"
5/13/2016 1:52:56 PM
i keep my yeti cooler inside of a igloo cooler. ice for weeks son

large yeti soft cooler. bigger than a suitcase. barely holds a 12 pack.
5/16/2016 8:58:34 AM
But it's coooldWas tempted to get one of the soft coolers, until I opened the zipper, reached inside, and left a sleeve of arm skin inside the cooler as the zipper teeth tore the flesh from my appendage.
5/16/2016 9:29:25 AM
you have to get the Yeti Gauntlets (sold separately) to avoid having your arm mutilated for a cold one. I've been pushing the ends together to get it to open wider. Seems to work.

Probably worth it to check out the Ozark trail stuff from wal mart. The cups are identical and I would assume the coolers are made the same.
5/16/2016 11:07:01 PM
Or them RTIC alternatives
5/16/2016 11:34:30 PM
RTIC has a huge wait

Who sips on a drink for hours on end?

^do tell

5/17/2016 10:04:52 AM
Yeah I've never even felt the need for a beer koozie. The one exception for coffee is when doing some outdoor cold weather activity I like to keep a large thermos of coffee with some type of whisky or Irish cream in my backpack. Makes for good sipping throughout the day.
5/17/2016 10:11:03 AM
beer koozies are for keeping your hands warm while holding a cold drink
5/17/2016 10:39:05 AM
yeti koozies are the bubba kegs of fountain drinks
5/17/2016 10:47:32 AM
^^That's silly. Why would I want warm hands on a hot summer day? I grab a nice cold beer because it not only cools me down but feels nice in my hands. I usually associate koozies with people who drink beer very slowly or who don't enjoy the feel of a nice cold beer.
5/17/2016 10:51:32 AM
What if you are at a football tailgate in december? you gonna wear gloves like a pussy? no, put a koozie on your beer like a pussy.
5/17/2016 10:55:13 AM
5/17/2016 11:10:20 AM
I mean, if you like those wet hand feels...
5/17/2016 11:15:57 AM
Only time I use a koozie is in a boat
5/17/2016 11:34:32 AM
the only real "functional" koozies are the old school thick ones. They prevent your beer from tipping over on the beach and getting sand all over it.
5/17/2016 12:25:23 PM
5/17/2016 1:00:06 PM
5/17/2016 1:19:23 PM
That was one scenario. IF I'm sitting by a fire and it's 35 out I still like having a cold beer in my hand because the fire is hot. Would you like every IF scenario? In general I typically don't like using a koozie. TreeTwista10 brought up a good exception. If I'm on a boat or floating in a lake then it's nice to have an insulator so the lake water doesn't immediately warm the beer. Something like this haha: http://beverageboy.com/

Ski resort hot tub protocol
5/17/2016 5:49:22 PM
Well on the ski lift I usually always have gloves on and you're chugging the beer in the 7 minutes it takes to get to the top of the lift. In the hot tub it's nice to have a cold beer to cool your hands because you're hot from the hot tub. I would say each scenario is different. I didn't miss to diss the koozie overall. I personally rarely use one. Of course other people have situations where they might prefer or benefit from one. I just wouldn't lure synapse to troll me unless I made a blanket statement about koozies. Soon I'll have enough data to put together a response time metric so we can score him under/over whenever he responds.
5/17/2016 6:13:30 PM
i think beer koozies are fine.
5/17/2016 6:19:06 PM
I'm on the side of those who like to hold their beer bottle with bare hands in the winter. It's nice to drink a beer while standing in a giant fridge.I think we all chug light beers, but it is nice to sip on a $6 high falutin beverage.
5/17/2016 6:21:01 PM
Speaking of $6/bottle beers he's my new favorite sour:
5/17/2016 6:26:05 PM
Brace yourselves. We're just a few posts away from him bragging about $200 whisky flights.
5/17/2016 7:05:38 PM
Seriously, people have a thing against koozies? Like, I'm judged by someone if you see me hanging outside my house with a koozied beer in my hand?
5/17/2016 7:08:35 PM
^^Which would be very appropriate in a thread about $400 coolers. As I recall I commented on my cheap ass Igloo cooler on page 1 which I find very appropriate as well.^Yeah because then I can't judge you because I don't know what beer you're drinking so I assume it's a cheap beer. ^^look at that pussyCroakies are another thing that I only use on boats[Edited on May 17, 2016 at 7:11 PM. Reason : .]
5/17/2016 7:11:14 PM
So I actually just bought some Croakies because I realized when shooting it's much easier to just let your sun glasses dangle around your neck then try and find a place for them. Super handy.
5/17/2016 7:12:53 PM
where's kingdouchebag when you need him?
5/17/2016 7:15:29 PM
If anyone is still seriously considering a Yeti you can pick them up at REI May 20th - 30th for 20% off.
5/17/2016 7:24:16 PM
^^ I've wondered the same for a long long time

true story, i tried to get the password for KDB from the alias but they ignored my request. Now he's just a memory.
5/18/2016 3:00:14 PM
Yah I would have declined as well
5/18/2016 3:06:32 PM
Does anyone have any experience with an RTIC cooler? They're a lot cheaper, and look like they hold up just as well.
5/22/2016 10:40:38 PM
From what I understand they're a straight rip off of Yeti made in China. Yeti is a good company out of Austin and most of their coolers are made in the US. I can't speak to the difference in quality but if you're in it just for the cooler then i'm sure it's fine. Pelican I heard is a notch above Yeti in terms of performance.
5/23/2016 11:51:28 AM
i thought you guys were joking about the yeti soft coolers and having the skin ripped off your arm until I used one this weekendthey need to figure out another solution because that thing sucks
5/23/2016 12:19:18 PM
Field and stream did a big consumer reports style comparison of the various cooler brands and I think Pelican was near the bottom. Cabelas house brand cooler was number 1.
