Haven't played it but I'm getting a Spore like feelomg here, ambitious game that people put way too much hope and expectation into, but one that also didn't really meet the promises it made. Also, see basically every Molyneaux game.
8/10/2016 4:01:33 PM
^I thought the same thing. Spore was a let down for me
8/10/2016 6:00:50 PM
Can't decide whether to get into this or not. Looks relaxing though .
8/10/2016 7:45:34 PM
This is exactly what I thought would happen with this game. Everything looks basically the same after the first few hours so you basically see everything there is to see in the first part, then it's just grinding the same stuff over and over. That said, I would consider buying this game if it was priced properly at $20-25.

when this hits $10 on steam i'll check it out

I've got about 10 hours into the game so far. It's holding my interest for now. They do a really bad job of explaining what some of the goals you can do are. I didn't realize how much of an aspect of the game discovering and cataloging new plants and animals was. You can avoid it, but you can also make a decent number of credits by exploring and cataloging a planet.I stumbled upon a massive space battle too. There were a dozen huge ships on each side and a bunch of smaller ships flying around like crazy. I joined one side and took part in the battle.Mining for elements is very repetitive, and inventory space is a bitch until you get a bigger ship. All in all, I'm happy with the game. I didn't decide to pick it up until after i watched a stream of gameplay, so I knew what i was in for.
8/12/2016 2:19:05 PM
kinda makes me not interested anymore. I'd still love to see a game mode / update / patch or whatever that makes it really small and more faction/battle oriented. Right now it looks like the tedious parts of WoW without any of the fun parts.
8/12/2016 2:26:36 PM
It really boggles my mind how people can have such a misunderstanding of what this game was going to deliver. From day 1 it has been advertised as a huge sandbox. Its not an eve, wow, xwing vs tie figher, etc. Its a sandbox about survival and exploration.I am also about 10 hours into it and I can understand the gripe about it not really explaining much; it just drops you on a planet. Thats part of the charm to me though; figuring out what you can do, what the most rewarding things to do are, and how to be efficient.I am curious if the alien artifact lore items you find are procedurally generated as well.
8/13/2016 9:39:54 AM
Seems similar to Eliteangerous. Basically a game where you just run around collecting resources so you can upgrade your ship so that you can......continue to run around and collect resources. Not my bag
8/13/2016 3:11:44 PM
I just want another Freelancer, is that too much to ask?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freelancer_(video_game)Maybe when Star Citizen eventually comes out it will fill that void.
8/13/2016 4:40:42 PM
Amen.
8/13/2016 7:13:33 PM
I am in my 3rd star system and still haven't come across a way to get a damn Atlas Pass.
8/14/2016 11:57:48 AM
Finally got the Atlas pass v1. I am 12 warps in and still a very long way from the center of the galaxy lol. Anyway I am enjoying the game overall but yes some of it is quite repetitive. I have had three battles one of which I lost.
8/16/2016 8:13:57 AM
I'm pretty far into the game at the moment and still enjoying it.The atlas passes are hard to come by, and I still haven't found a v2 or v3. The cool thing about the atlas pass vs bypass chips is that the pass isn't consumed. You can use it as many times as you want.I'm on my 4th ship now, and my exosuit has a bunch of extra slots. Being able to carry tech and resources is getting easier. The thing I'm searching for most right now is better multi-tools with more slots.
8/16/2016 10:09:28 AM
I cant stop playing this game.I do think, however, once i hit 48 slot suit (done) 48 slot ship (nowhere close) and a 24 slot tool (20 currently) my desire to play will be cut by a lot. I haven't found any compelling progression outside of those items for myself. I suppose I also want to find all of the blueprints for improving the suit/ship/tool as well.I am only on my 3rd star system too; OCD prevents me from moving on until every planet is cataloged and any life forms are discovered.
8/16/2016 12:45:17 PM
I am on the Atlas Path as we speak. Is there any way to increase your ship's inventory slots in the ship you already have?
8/16/2016 12:57:40 PM
not that ive found. You can only do that with your suit; ship and weapon you have to find bigger ones and upgrade them.
8/16/2016 2:54:28 PM
That is what I figured. I have upgraded to warp reactor tau which kicks ass. I am only my second ship but I just found a virtual ATM with a terminal and a huge tower of emril.
8/16/2016 5:44:23 PM
Anyone getting bored with the repetition that I've read about?
8/17/2016 8:30:26 AM
For those playing is this game kid friendly? I have an 8 year old that really likes minecraft and was looking for a new game for the ps4 from the small sample I have watched seems like minecraft meets space a little bit wondering if thats how others feel.
8/17/2016 8:32:13 AM
Visually and audibly its kid friendly. Some of the lore can be strange and a bit weird. No cursing or vulgarity, but gross or sometimes violent actions are described; but never shown.
8/17/2016 9:03:02 AM
Finished the Atlas path and all it did was birth a star on the edge of the galaxy and a new traveler will begin there. I am not sure it will have implications for later. I then warped a million light years through a black hole only to end up around 400-500 light years closer to the center.
8/17/2016 12:45:51 PM
fucking dying. someone embedhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvAwB7ogkik
8/17/2016 10:57:32 PM
I have warped 40 times and quite frankly I am now growing tired of it. I am 165,000 light years from the center (started somewhere around 175,000). There is nothing new at this point. It feels like an endless loop of mining resources.
8/19/2016 2:16:02 PM
^^hahaha

This explains the lies of the developer vs. what we actually ended up with:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTTPlqK8AnY

This might be better on the topic of Sean Murray's lies:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Wgolc1rRro

^ Those are both entertaining videos. Here's the stuff Murray lied about in list form, from reddit:

Sales have dropped 81% already. It is a disaster.
8/22/2016 6:45:31 PM
^They've already made over $30 million with about a dozen people.
8/22/2016 7:49:01 PM
Play on Steam has dropped 78% already.
8/23/2016 2:44:42 PM
I figured it out. It is a metaphor for the emptiness that Capitalism brings to our lives along with the plundering of resources on a finite planet .
8/23/2016 7:25:58 PM
^ Haha, are you mocking the Gamespot review? I actually think I like that sentence better for a grand statement to help sell this shit game.
8/24/2016 10:39:10 AM
^totally random but I had a game written about on kill screen yesterday. I was wondering if anyone ever read that site I wonder why NMS enrages people so bad. I get that the developers occasionally said there might be features in the game that later got cut. Isn't that the nature of software/game dev?
8/24/2016 8:57:10 PM
Gameplay is down 90% now.
8/24/2016 11:01:03 PM
I think once everyone saw the spoiled "ending", they probably smashed their box/TV. Probably a major contributor to the sharp drop in players.
8/25/2016 9:42:45 AM
Don't know anything about the game but just saw thishttp://www.gamezone.com/news/advertising-standards-authority-is-investigating-no-man-s-sky-for-false-advertisement-3444032
9/28/2016 2:47:11 PM
As much as I think its karma, I really dont want to see that go anywhere as I think it would screw up so many other games that would not be able to advertise to their potential.
9/28/2016 9:47:08 PM
they would be able to advertise, just not make up a bunch of features that aren't actually in the gamewhich is totally fineanother thing that would help stop this problem would be if morons stopped buying games before anyone has seen it
9/29/2016 6:37:29 AM
This "disaster" is currently sitting at #3 on top sellers on Steam. Ya'll funny.
11/30/2016 8:41:33 AM
Helps that it was recently part of the Steam Fall Sale. Also - that they release a pretty big-time update with a good amount of new features.

$36. About double the cost of most of the higher quality indie games.
11/30/2016 7:17:56 PM
Now that theyve announced a patch. you can get a "preowned" version from Amazon Warehouse for 17 minus a 25% coupon (they add it at checkout). The preowned with amazon are mostly returns, reports have it a lot were not even opened, and most include everything the origional came with. This price is slowly going up due to demand (2 days ago it was 15). So get it fast if you want it.

The VR version of this game is great so far. They could make a whole game out of spaceship mechanic alone. Also I’m not having any motion sickness issues.
8/20/2019 3:23:40 AM
I have this for xbox. Good time killer.
8/22/2019 2:35:55 PM
i also got it for xbox. Target had a deal where it was half off and you could buy one and get the 2nd copy half off of the half off. So I ordered two copies for 41 bucks. But the target i ordered from only had one copy in stock, so I ended up getting it for like 20 bucks and some change. Ive put ~45 hours into it and i've barely scratched the surface. Its a good time. Especially with some star wars music in the background.
