I've never heard of "hoteling". I've never shared desks but I can see how it could catch on. They encourage "telecommuting" now at my current job just because they ran out of desks for new hires. My previous job was actually 100% work from home, I never met my coworkers in-person. It gets old after awhile though. I think a mix of at home and office would be ideal. IBM did work-from-home every Friday, and I believe Cisco does Monday + Friday as the norm.

for us the difference between teleworking and hoteling is that with teleworking, you still have a reserved office on campus in Alexandria...when you switch to hoteling, you give up that office to work home full-timethere are offices available if we have to go to main campus and work from there, we basically just take our laptop and there are already docking stations, dual monitors, printers, mice/keyboards in placethose offices smell bad though

My job stress is very personal as an attorney. I've got clients that are hurt and out of work with tons of bills, so if I can't get them paid, then they're fucked. It was much worse when I was practicing family law...kids, child support, alimony...fuck. With tough cases, I was getting maybe two or three hours of sleep a night...I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I'd like to think it helps me, because I've never fucked up a case. And the older and "more sure" I am in my practice, the better I feel about decisions I make. Hopefully one day the stress will be almost non-existent...but we'll see.
