yeah, i've listened to that record a ton over the past few weeks. Very, very good. But I loved Age of Adz too for entirely different reasons.

Just listened to Toro Y Moi's new album...pretty rocky. Don't think I like it nearly as much as his Anything in Return.[Edited on April 7, 2015 at 11:09 AM. Reason : I really like his Les Sins album though]

new passion pit is pretty 'meh'. I enjoyed the last two to some extent; good and catchy, but not great. But this just lacks a lot of feeling.New Mew album is taking some warming up to as well.[Edited on April 30, 2015 at 4:20 PM. Reason : ]

^^Me too. Also liking the new Mikal Cronin.
5/3/2015 7:02:10 PM
the new Mikal Cronin is excellentand as much as I hate to admit this, I kinda like the new Mumford and Sons album. I'm sure I'll be sick of these songs by the end of the summer when the radio overplays everything
5/5/2015 2:59:04 PM
i'm already sick of Believe.

I haven't purchased an album in years, but I might have to grab this one when it drops. Slum Village - Expressive:http://www.audiomack.com/embed4/2dbz/expressiveIs that an old Dilla beat or does he just have shit piled up like Tupac tracks?
5/14/2015 10:18:28 AM
New BTBAM song was released yesterday. I dig it.
5/14/2015 3:03:31 PM
^yeah should be an interesting record for sure. Will check out as usual even though I don't listen to them that often anymore.I finally picked up the Kamasi Washington album and, GOOD LORD, it is one hell of a contemporary jazz album. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys jazz.

Another year, another solid album from thee oh sees
5/22/2015 3:14:58 PM
^Was just about to mention that record. I had only been peripherally aware of Thee Oh Sees previously but a friend turned me on to this new album--really quite good. got Best Coast and Waxahatchee lined up to check out tonight
5/27/2015 6:11:51 PM
love that Waxahatchee albumthat Best Coast album bored me. at least we'll always have her debut.
5/27/2015 6:53:00 PM
yep. The Waxahatchee album was solid. Best Coast was decent - I can see myself listening to it in the background without focusing on it too much. Nothing special but still enjoyed some of it.Also, since I've been out of the loop, I thought maybe a new Beach House record was out based on your previous post. I was sad to find out last night that a new album won't be out until the end of August
5/28/2015 2:39:13 PM
I continue to be obsessed with "Chateau Lobby #4"
5/29/2015 8:27:54 AM
swans are recording a new album in september. i will be thrilled if it comes out before the end of the year. probably not likely though
5/29/2015 5:16:08 PM
^^that entire father john misty album is so damn good.
5/29/2015 7:00:47 PM
sure is. Definitely one of my favorites so far this year.i'm spinning Frog - Kind of Blah and Hope Along - Painted Shut tonight.
6/1/2015 7:43:47 PM
This Vola record, Inmazes, has really been growing on me this week. The first time I ran across it I thought they were really confused as a band: It's Meshuggah meets Depeche Mode meets deftones. And, while I like those individual bands, I just wasn't sure what to think of all of it rolled into one. However, the more I listen, the more I enjoy it and realize they actually pull it off quite well and it's wormed it's way into my brain.[Edited on June 4, 2015 at 4:21 PM. Reason : ]

Loud Places + I Know There's Gonna Bepretty damn good back to back songs
6/4/2015 11:33:26 PM
went ahead and bought that album last night. I do enjoy several tracks from the simple standpoint of being catchy. Loud Places is probably my favorite song on the album after one listen. Overall it's not something I can get super into but it's not a regretful purchase at all; I definitely see myself spinning it more but I just don't think I can enjoy it to the extent of giving it any consideration for top albums of the year like other people. TPAB was similar for me.
6/5/2015 8:38:46 AM
Picked up Tenement's Predatory Headlights today. First listen is quite positive. Think Dinosaur Jr/Thin Lizzy/Replacements/Hot Rod Circuit all thrown into a blender.

6/9/2015 11:40:13 PM
We'll always have The Monitor.
6/10/2015 12:14:15 AM
I really like it. But I also liked Local Business pretty well.
6/10/2015 7:56:32 PM
I think for most people this one is gonna rank up close to The Monitor. It's miles ahead of Local Business.
6/10/2015 9:16:50 PM
picked up the new Snarky Puppy. Impressed as usual upon first listen.

trying to figure out how i feel about the new beck single
6/15/2015 1:28:19 PM
new mewithoutYou is out today. It's a very solid record - maybe one of their best but I'm just not as into them as much anymore after 13 years. Still worth the purchase. Also bought today:No Joy - More Faithful (pretty solid record on first listen. noisy shoegaze in the vein of stuff like A Sunny Day in Glasgow)Sorority Noise - Joy, Departed (emo revival)Vattnet Viskar - Settler (post-rock/post-metal with a bit of black metal)Finally got around to pre-ordering the new Tame Impala as well.[Edited on June 16, 2015 at 5:26 PM. 6/16/2015 5:08:28 PM
That Vattnet Viskar album is nothing super original in terms of post-metal mixing in BM but I don't even care because they managed to make it extremely enjoyable. My one main comment is that at times the gritty production suits the songs well and other times I wish there was more clarity on some of the melodic parts. But still, fun record and a step up from their previous. Definitely glad I picked this up on a whim yesterday as I believe it will be one of my favorites of the year. The No Joy album was also a pleasant surprise. I had heard their name but never actually listened to them. It is also very enjoyable and has gotten better with subsequent listens.
