I feel as though that's the case for almost every hero in this game. Given the right situation and team composition, any one hero can feel out of control overpowered if you fail to counter it.

Bastion is a common example of a character that people like to call OP, as it can feel pretty terrible when he burns you down in three seconds while in sentry mode. But if you put a sniper or Symmetra's charge shot on him or flank him he's a sitting duck.

agreed. i was in a match where i got merc'd 5-6 times by mccree. but that's probably the best part about overwatch. any toon you play can feel "powered".

this is probably the first fps i've played in years that i haven't gotten pissed off enough at to just write off forever.

So, is anyone playing this on Xbox One? Playing with randoms is just painful. I don't know if my chat function is broken or I'm too stupid to activate it but I can't even hear anyone discussing the game. I at least expect to hear some kid yelling in the background or some idiot spouting rap lyrics. All I have is complete silence each and every game...

that's kind of his specialty. he's not on my short list of "needs a nerfin" though. he does a lot of damage, but far away it does require skill to hit folks directly (and do the majority of his damage). otherwise you can just heal through his splash damage and kill the wheel before it gets to you.

now mcree and his fan+roll+fan combo is just obnoxious.

It has great controller support too on PC, if that's why you prefer console. I even used my DS4 to play via Steam in-home streaming on my living room TV. Now, you're at a massive competitive disadvantage playing against people with kb+m, but there are certain heroes where it doesn't matter as much due to auto locking weapons or whatever.

For every hero out there, someone thinks that it needs to be nerfed. The thing is, in the right situation, any given hero can make your life miserable. I've been killed by Junkrat's tire too many times as Pharrah when I've already boosted into the air. So, I kinda wish they'd nerf the damage radius of that thing but in the end I guess that's just his strength. It's what he's good at. When you describe a situation that plays right into another hero's strength and call for a nerf...well, that's what they're supposed to do.

Symettra is possibly the most situational hero but on certain defense setups she can be downright unfair. Her ultimate charges very fast and a well placed teleporter can almost end a match before it begins.

I still can't figure out a good strategy for the end on attack. I'm pretty sure the whole team needs to build their ultimate and release at once to push the payload but without communicating it doesn't work. I've tried using Winston and throwing up a shield but get crushed in 2 seconds by Bastion or Junkrat.

I found that Pharah is a terrific Bastion counter but last night the defense setup Bastion behind Reinhardt and I couldn't do fuck all. Switched characters and tried to flank, dead.

if you've played tf2 or similar, you should generally be fine. sure you have to learn the characters, but the general idea is the same.

I wouldn't worry at all about being "disadvantaged" or "behind". There are still tons of noobs playing. Probably more noobs than any other FPS because it's more mainstream. I've never been that good at FPSs, but I was able to hold my own after just a few games. Start with Soldier 76 then branch out to the other character types to get a feel for them. Team balance is pretty important, but the game does a good job of telling you what your team needs, plus you can change characters mid-game. I'd say it's worth it for $39.99 on PC.

Eh there are things you can criticize Blizzard for, ignoring balance issues and neglecting patches isn't one of them.

I'm pretty sure I've seen them say that given the control differences they will be patching the PC and console versions like they are 2 different games.

Competitive mode is out.

I just completed my 6th competitive game and am 0/6 now in season one. Several have been blow outs and several have been very close. Either way, I just get shit luck, shit teams, or I'm just shitty.

I've played 4 so far. I'm 3-1, with the loss coming down to the wire (maybe 3m from the last goal). also had a 300-0 skunk. matchmaking is definitely a crap shoot

Little irritating on the competative mode so far. Lost 6 of my qualifying matches, 4 of which I had quitters. Had a good run to start out but then a string of losses due to players quitting or when I've got 3-4 gold medals and lose all my progress.

I understand it's a team game and all and winning counts a lot to rank, but I would prefer not immediately losing a rank whenever teammates quit and I'm holding the best stats in 4 categories.

My fav part is the msg that says you can leave with no penalty but a loss. I have to imagine that is still gonna hurt during placement . Maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah I was confused with this. We got down to 3 people so I figured I'd quit and save rank, but the "without penalty" apparently only refers to the potential for getting blocked from competitive play not a ding to your ranking. I was kinda WTF when I saw that leaving dropped me a rank.

I understand they don't want to encourage playing for stats at the expense of winning but I really don't feel like you should lose rank when you are balling out on a losing team. I mean what am I supposed to do if my squad wants to roll 4 torbjorns on offense?
