Nothing ruins a weekend like a damn wedding

Except maybe a funeral.

are my fiance and i party poopers for not wanting to do the first dance and father/daughter dance and all that shit? like...just drink and eat and have fun and let's forget about all this over the top formal stuff. that's our approach to wedding and reception planning.

We didn't do any of those dances and the wedding was better off for it. Honestly, no one cares about watching those things, they just want to drink beer and have a good time.

yup that's where we're at. we want it to be as relaxed as possible...for our sake but also the guests.

It's your wedding, do whatever you want.

Do you think your parents will be mad about not having the dances? If so, then I guess it would depend on how much that bothers you. For instance, I hate Rascal Flatts but my mom chose them as the her song to dance with me. I just sucked it up and didn't tell her. She did find out later and we laughed about it.

yeah, our parents are pretty much on board with whatever we wanna do. i do think it'd be a different story if our parents were very adamant about certain things. but we both have older siblings that are married...so since they've experienced a child getting married before maybe their perspective is a little different.

just seems like a lotta couples say the same things about their weddings..."we barely got to spend time with each other all day", "everything was so rushed", "we couldn't enjoy it because of x, y, z", etc. and while i know, to a degree, those things are fairly unavoidable...but we wanna try to avoid the stuff that feels forced, stuffy, or unnecessary. we wanna be able to relax and enjoy the moment as much as possible. probably easier said than done, overall.

God Only Knows, which was the Big Love theme song at the time.

We don't really take things seriously.

We didn't have a DJ. Trying to wed on the cheap. I spent a few days putting together a playlist and we rented some speaker equipment. We had a friend change music when necessary, but otherwise we let it run. I was the friend running the music at a recent wedding and it went great. They asked people to request songs on the RSVP. It was a great idea.
