Aidy Bryant is not very funny. She has a schtick that is funny like one out of five times. So while she has a few moments...they are few and far between....although I guess you could say that about most SNL cast members for the past 5 or so years.

So I guess "What's Up with That" is dead huh?
9/29/2014 3:08:52 PM
I like Aidy Bryant in the best frends talk show, but I haven't seen it in a while.
9/29/2014 5:02:36 PM
^^ kind of hard to do it when everyone who was in it other than Keenan has been gone for going on two seasons nowwouldn't shock anyone if they all came back for Keenan's last show, though

There's only room for one funny fat chick at any given time, and the big bitch from Bridesmaids has that throne, though Tammy gave reason to envision her decline.

Looking forward to tonight's show. Too lazy to look at the guide to see who the host and musical guest are, but looking forward to some of you people claiming that the current cast members are just-as-funny/just-as-good as Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, etcBut now that i look, Sarah Silverman could be good, she's pretty funny. And while I don't care for Maroon 5, they're talented, when they're not ripping off Finley Quaye.[Edited on October 4, 2014 at 10:44 PM. Reason : .]

they need a Jason Sudeikis in the worst waydude was the last good cast member
10/4/2014 11:22:14 PM
This episode reminded me of State's performance against Clemson today
10/5/2014 1:19:58 AM
I thoroughly enjoyed the opening monologue and the movie trailerthen I fell asleep after the Joan Rivers roast (which was decent, but Silverman was a little sloppy in her delivery)[Edited on October 5, 2014 at 12:03 PM. Reason : the cold opening was terrible]

For modern snl, last night was a great ep

Could have just been the Hulu version, but disappointed in the number of pretaped sketches.
10/5/2014 8:41:27 PM
i would still murder SS in the sack.
10/6/2014 9:02:37 AM
^^ There are 2-3 live bits missing from the Hulu version.P.S. TT, Steve Martin was never a cast member.[Edited on October 6, 2014 at 2:49 PM. Reason : 3]
10/6/2014 2:48:19 PM
He guest starred dozens of times. Might as well have been a cast member.
10/6/2014 3:01:11 PM
current cast members are never as good as past ones. just as movies aren't as good these days as they used to be. and kids use to be so much politer to their elders. and you could actually pick-up hitchhikers without fear of being murdered. and houses just aren't built like they used to be.but Dan Akroyd sucks, and always sucked. And I never found Steve Martin all that funny. But my dad thinks he and Gilda Radner were the best. REmember that funny skit where Steve Martin Walks Like and Egyptian? And he wishes they could make horror movies like wolfman and frankenstein in the 50s.
10/6/2014 3:06:07 PM
people who always make an effort to complain about the current state of SNL tend to only put weight into the post-SNL career of previous cast members, not in their output while on the show, which is all you have to judge the current cast membersit's always been an uneven show. I'd be interested to know how much of the first 5 seasons people who reference them have actually watched (and not just the highlights, the entire episodes)when it comes to SNL, Lorne Michaels has a pretty flawless record.[Edited on October 6, 2014 at 3:41 PM. 10/6/2014 3:39:31 PM
I just can't comprehend how some people can act like the current cast has anything on people like Chris Farley and Will Ferrell.I was one of the people who was like "oh no, Ferrell isn't gonna be back next season". Not someone like "omg did you see this movie featuring this unknown actor named Will Ferrell? Wow he sure is funny in movies, wonder where he came from"[Edited on October 6, 2014 at 4:19 PM. 10/6/2014 4:12:55 PM
who has said any of those things?
10/6/2014 4:23:40 PM
you and vinylbandit have pretty much said "it's always been great until last season"and anyone who knocks the current cast either hasn't actually watched old shows, etcwhy so defensive about SNL anyway? it's not as good as it used to be. why does that hurt your feelings or hinder your ability to enjoy it?
10/6/2014 4:25:26 PM
it was a known transition year. there have always been transition years."SNL sucks now" is a lazy argument and has always been a lazy argumentsimply saying "this cast (and writers) is still learning/getting better/gelling" does not equal "this cast is as good as the all-time greats", which is the argument you've been attempting to make, even though nobody has said that
10/6/2014 4:31:24 PM
vinylbandit thinks 90% of the people who say the show is not as good as it used to be are wrong, and only say that because they don't watch every weekit's simply not as good nowadays as the Carvey/Myers/Nealon/Farley/Spade/Sandler/Hartman/Meadows/Rock/Schneider days. It just isn't. [Edited on October 6, 2014 at 4:39 PM. Reason : .]

and for the beginning of their run, people said the exact same thing about them in relation to the previous casthell, even at the end of their run, "Saturday Night Dead" was a phrase that was used to describe that cast
10/6/2014 4:44:55 PM
I think some of the cast members are funny as individuals...I just don't think the skits are funny...which leads me to the writing being worse. I don't think there was one funny joke in the Joan Rivers skit. The vitamix one was abysmal. The weekend update was horrible. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking with the "Supportive Women" tv show bit...holy fuck that was bad. I actually thought the Obama/60 minutes opening was decent. But they had a pretty solid comedian as the host and completely struck out.Even if the episode as a whole was weak, you use to always be able to count on a couple very funny skits to make it worthwhile. I feel like that rarely happens now.

10/7/2014 12:57:08 PM
^^I don't know how they thought that would actually be funny. Does that work better for you?You do know that you just have a different taste in comedy? Those skits aren't clever and don't involve critical thinking that only you and a few select individuals who must be extremely intelligent can understand. Or are you that dense?

AV Club has "Forgotten TV Gems" as the best sketch of the week. http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/saturday-night-live-sarah-silvermanmaroon-5-210107Nearly every other review liked the performances, but not the pacing/framing.Obviously, reviews are not definitive, but I'm not crazy for thinking that sketch was great.
10/7/2014 6:37:16 PM
Oh look, I found a bad review for the skit:http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2014/10/saturday-night-live-review-sarah-silvermanmaroon-5.htmlSo I'm not crazy to think it was bad.I did forget the Ebola/love movie skit...I thought that was pretty good.
10/8/2014 11:21:00 AM
Not a bad episode. I enjoyed the San Diego public access show. Whoever made that and the After School Special in the season premiere needs to get air time each week. Not the same played out premise that's contributed to dwindling ratings, but something that's both creative and funny. Although I don't know how much mainstream appeal those particular sketches had. But mainstream appeal and good sketches don't necessarily have anything to do with each other.[Edited on October 12, 2014 at 1:28 AM. Reason : .]

10/12/2014 7:54:13 AM
I don't recall seeing Good Neighbor last week
10/12/2014 9:58:49 AM
last week was the one where the guy tried to pick up Silverman in the boyfriend stepped in and it was like he was the bully of his dreams
10/12/2014 11:08:16 AM
So I exaggerated a little, but there were 12 Good Neighbor pieces in 21 episodes last season, and there's been one in each of this season's episodes. Here are all of them from last year, including the one that was cut after dress.http://www.starpulse.com/news/Jeffrey_Malone/2014/09/21/every_snl_good_neighbor_comedy_skit_shI think the ranking is way off base, but that link is easier than digging them all up.
